Part-Time Jobs in Madrid for International Students

Taking a part-time job gives you a dose of what it’s like to work in the future. Luckily for you, Madrid is brimming with countless opportunities for part-time work.

As per the 2022 QS Best Student Cities lists, Madrid took the top spot in Spain. And one of the reasons for this is the high employer activity in the country.

Knowing this, a part-time job experience can give your profile a boost. It’s also a way of showing that you’ve gained valuable skills needed in the workplace.

Here are some part-time jobs you can take in Madrid as an international student:

Hospitality Jobs

We all know that Madrid is a global magnet for thousands of tourists around the world. This is why many hotels, restaurants, and resorts look for a helping hand in the place.

If you have a natural charm and great communication skills, consider applying as  a receptionist. You can also take the role of a waiter or waitress to enjoy great tips from customers.

Catering jobs are also open for students who know a bit about culinary techniques. One of the most common jobs is being a catering assistant for small to medium businesses.

Language Tutor

If you speak a language other than Spanish, you can use it to your advantage. Plus, as a native speaker, you can charge higher per hour because of your top-notch proficiency.

You’ll earn around €8 to €35 per hour as a private tutor. Your target market can be anyone from young kids to adults and other students who are interested in learning a second language.

You can also offer your services online and agree on a virtual setup. This would be better for you if you want to juggle work with your part-time job.

Au Pair

Being an au pair is perfect for students who don’t have any technical skills yet. Basically, in this job, you’ll help around the household with various duties. You can be asked to take care of kids or lend a hand with chores.

In this job, employers usually offer a spare room for an au pair to stay in. But of course, you can always decline if you’re not comfortable with the setup.

Freelancing is the best avenue for students who have a talent for creating. This could involve a range of services such as language translation, blogging, or graphic design.

The best part about this setup is that you can tap into other markets beyond Madrid. This exposes your skills to potential clients on a global scale.

You can create a profile on Upwork, Fiverr, Toptal, Behance, and more. Just take note that some of these websites have a monthly subscription requirement so you can bid on projects.

With its thriving industries and rich life, Madrid offers many wonderful opportunities for international students. You can check out our other resources here at MSM Unify to learn more.
