Here are five UK scholarships that offer fully-funded scholarships to aid the cost of studying in the UK.

 

British Chevening Scholarship

The Chevening Scholarship, funded by the Foreign and Commonwealth Office, is a highly sought-after scholarship opportunity open to applicants from over 140 countries, including India. These scholarships provide financial support for pursuing a full-time Master’s degree program at any university in the UK. 

The scholarship covers tuition fees, living expenses, a return economy class airfare, additional grants, and allowances. Applications for the scholarship must be submitted by 6th November annually.

To be eligible for the Chevening Scholarship, applicants must meet the following requirements:

  • Be a citizen of one of the 162 countries on the Chevening eligible countries list.
  • Agree to return to their home country for a minimum of two years after the scholarship period has ended.
  • Have at least two years of work experience.
  • Acquire an acceptance letter from a UK university.
  • Provide proof of English language proficiency.

 

Gates Cambridge Scholarship

The Gates Cambridge Scholarship is one of the most sought-after opportunities for Indian students in the UK. Offered by the University of Cambridge, it recognizes academically exceptional individuals with the potential to make a significant impact.

The scholarship is available to citizens of countries outside of the UK who are interested in pursuing a Ph.D., MLitt, MSc, or one-year postgraduate course at Cambridge. The award covers the full cost of study, including tuition, travel expenses, living allowances, family allowances, and fieldwork.

Applications are due annually on October 10th for US students and December 5th for other international students.

To be eligible for the Gates Cambridge Scholarship, the following criteria must be met:

  • The applicant must be a citizen of a country outside the United Kingdom.
  • The applicant must be applying for a full-time Ph.D., MLitt, MSc, or one-year postgraduate program at the University of Cambridge.

 

Clarendon Fund Scholarship

The Clarendon Scholarship, while not as well-known as the Chevening Scholarship, is a highly prestigious scholarship offered by the University of Oxford in the UK. Each year, over 140 scholarships are awarded to international students with strong academic backgrounds and demonstrated potential.

Eligible courses include all full-time graduate and master’s programs, excluding PG diploma and certificate courses. The scholarship covers all tuition and college fees, as well as a yearly allowance of £14,777 (INR 1,471,323) for living costs for the duration of the course.

To be eligible, applicants must have an outstanding academic background and show potential as a graduate student. The deadline for scholarship applications is January 25th each year.

 

Warwick Chancellor’s International Scholarship

The Warwick Chancellor’s Scholarship is a postgraduate research competition offered to international students accepted into a Ph.D. program at the University of Warwick in the UK.

The scholarship covers the full tuition fees, up to £22,860 (INR 2,276,135), and provides a maintenance stipend of £15,044 (INR 1497908) for 3.5 years. This award is available to all Ph.D. students in any discipline at the University of Warwick.

The application deadline for the Warwick Chancellor’s Scholarship is January 18th each year.

To be eligible for the Warwick Chancellor’s Scholarship, the following criteria must be met:

  • The applicant must be accepted into a Ph.D. program in any discipline offered at the University of Warwick.
  • Students already in the first year of their Ph.D. at Warwick can also apply.
  • The applicant must be a student from outside of the United Kingdom, with no specific country requirements.

 

Westminster International Scholarship

The University of Westminster in the UK offers scholarships, known as Westminster International Scholarship, for students from developing countries who have been accepted into a full-time Master’s program (excluding MBA). The scholarship covers tuition fees, living expenses, accommodation, and airfare to and from London. The deadline for scholarship applications is October 13th each year.

To be considered for the Westminster International Scholarship, applicants must meet the following requirements:

  • Origin from a developing country listed in the scholarship’s eligibility criteria
  • Acceptance into a full-time Master’s program at the University of Westminster.
