Finance is a specialist field that focuses on problems. A school with a strong business program, such as marketing entrepreneurship, does not always have a strong financial program. It’s no surprise that several of the schools listed below are also ranked among the country’s top business schools for undergraduates, given how finance is nearly often available within a university’s business school.
The institutions below consistently rank at the top of national rankings for undergraduate students in finance majors. All of them offer outstanding graduate programs, and they usually provide undergraduates with research opportunities.
Boston College
Boston College, which is located in Chestnut Hill, Massachusetts, is one of the country’s high-ranking Catholic schools, and given the institution’s Jesuit background, it implies that its finance department supports multidisciplinary study that emphasizes leadership, ethics, and analytical abilities. Students major in business and then select one or two areas of focus from eleven other alternatives.

As MIT is one of the world’s premier engineering institutions, it may not immediately spring to mind when considering the nation’s best financial schools. The Sloan School of Management at MIT, on the other hand, consistently ranks near the top of business school rankings.
Microeconomics, Accounting, Corporate Finance, Probability, Statistics, and Managerial Finance as well as seven pertinent electives, are required of all Finance majors at MIT. Undergraduates acquire considerable hands-on experience through internships, externships, and undergraduate research, and MIT takes pride in its exceptional job placement record.
The admittance bar is extremely high. Only 7% of applicants are accepted and SAT math scores of 800 are commonly present.
Georgetown University
Georgetown University’s McDonough School of Business in Washington, D.C., offers seven majors in finance. Six of their available 1.5-credit courses are required of all financial students.
Georgetown’s finance programs, both undergraduate and graduate, are well regarded, thanks in part to the university’s outstanding professors and resources.
McDonough students frequently compete in business case contests around the world, and Georgetown’s curriculum has a worldwide focus. Internships, study abroad, and summer programs are all available to students all over the world.
Admission to Georgetown is extremely competitive, with just 17% of applicants being accepted.
Carnegie Mellon University
Finance is a concentration within the undergraduate business major at Carnegie Mellon University’s Tepper School of Business, located in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Investment Analysis, Corporate Finance, and two finance-related electives are required for students pursuing the finance concentration.
If you want to be admitted, you’ll need a solid academic record and a compelling application; the admittance rate at CMU is only under 17%.
Indiana University
With 59 study abroad programs in 29 countries, the Kelly School is proud of its worldwide orientation. The Kelly School of Business offers 18 majors to students. Corporate finance, investments, banking, and international finance are the four major topics of study for finance majors. Finance-focused MBA and Ph.D. programs are also available at this university.
Students can enroll as current IU students or apply for direct admission to the Kelly School. Direct admit students will have a higher admissions hurdle than the rest of the university.
