What Clothes To Bring To Canada: A Guide To Its Major Cities

What Clothes To Bring To Canada A Guide To Its Major Cities e1644415244900

For example, the northern part of the country is known for its extremely cold weather, while its southern part is warmer. For international students, it is important to know which clothes one should bring to be prepared for the country’s different climates and weather. Moreover, if you don’t have plans of going around the country, then maybe, just preparing for the area where you are staying is enough.

Read below to know what clothes to bring to Canada while studying abroad

Toronto

Toronto and the areas around it have a continental climate. For students who came from warmer countries, Toronto’s climate may seem a bit extreme.

In winter, it is cold and snowy and could get as cold as 0°C. During summer, the weather is warm and humid, with a 26–27°C temperature.

The clothes you must bring to Toronto include:

  • Sweater or light jacket
  • Comfortable shoes
  • Thermal underwear
  • Gloves
  • Scarf
  • Pair of boots
  • Coat

Montreal

In 2019, Montreal ranked sixth out of 120 in the QS Best Student Cities Ranking in the world. Also, Canada’s famous McGill University is found there.

The city can be really hot in the summer, and cold in the winter. However, there’s a chance that weather in this city can also change quickly at any time of the day. For example, in winter, it can be freezing in the morning, and then hot after the sun rises. Thus, international students who will study in Montreal should bring clothes that can be easily layered. This way, it is easy to take off or add clothes depending on the temperature and weather.

Vancouver

If you are staying in Vancouver, Canada’s west coast has a rainy and temperate climate. Thus, you have to make sure you can keep yourself dry with the clothes you bring. Also, it rarely snows there, except in its mountains. Some of the clothes you can bring to this rainy city are the following:

  • Raincoat
  • Waterproof hooded jacket
  • Rain boots or any comfortable shoes that won’t get ruined when subjected to rain
  • A pair of sneakers, sandals, or slippers during sunny days

Ottawa

Canada’s capital city, Ottawa, is home to a big student population and numerous international students. Also, the city offers a lot of activities and events students can enjoy all year round.

Since the country has four seasons—winter, spring, summer, and fall—if you are staying for at least a whole year in Ottawa, it would be wise to bring different types of clothes for each season. Bring coats for winter and fall, and lighter clothes for summer. Also, don’t forget to bring comfortable shoes for your daily activities.
