Canyons Promise Program Now Accepting Applications For 2022-2023

The Canyons Promise program at the College of the Canyons is now accepting applications for the 2022-2023 academic year.

The program, which began in the autumn of 2017, gives first-time college students who expect to attend full-time more opportunities. By paying tuition and expenses during their first year of study, the initiative assists students in achieving their educational goals.

Key Takeaways:

  • For the academic year 2022-2023, applications for the Canyons Promise program at College of the Canyons are now being accepted.
  • The program, which began in the fall semester of 2017, provides more opportunities for first-time college students who plan to study full-time.
  • Aside from paying tuition, the program provides students with high-touch student support as well as ongoing academic and career counseling to keep them on track.

Canyons Promise benefits may be extended to a second year for students who meet the program’s standards.

With May 2 as the last day to sign up for the 2022-2023 school year, a student must be a first-time college student and a California resident (or AB 540-qualified student) to be eligible.

As a first step, candidates must apply as first-time students for the fall of 2022. Applicants will receive an email with a link to the Canyons Promise sign-up form once they have completed the application.

Students must complete all items on the new student checklist, including a 2022-23 FAFSA or California Dream Act application, by May 2, 2022, after signing up for Canyons Promise.

Submissions received after the deadline will not be considered. After the May 2 deadline, students can expect to hear about their acceptance into the program.

Accepted students must attend a Canyons Promise New Student Session during the summer and must complete program requirements for the fall semester.

According to Jasmine Ruys, associate vice president of enrollment services at Canyons, as a complete student success program, Promise is committed to building a community where students may feel at home, have easy access to resources, and receive the assistance they need to achieve their academic, personal, and professional goals.

In addition to paying for tuition, the program offers students high-touch student support as well as continuing academic and career counseling to help them stay on track. It also makes use of the many resources available to students throughout the campus to help them succeed.

Students have saved more than US$2.3 million in tuition and fees as a result of the initiative. Nearly half of the 4,421 Canyons Promise students who enrolled since the program’s inception achieved their associate’s degree or career certificate within two years.
