Your ETS account is the only place to see your official GRE exam results. Official scores appear there about 8 to 10 days after your test. ETS emails you when they are ready and sends them to the schools you chose. Scores run from 130 to 170 for Verbal and Quant, and 0 to 6 for Analytical Writing. The GRE result validity is five years from the test date.
Decide on test day: report or cancel
2026-10-20At the end of the test you choose to report or cancel your scores. Once you view them, you cannot cancel. You cannot cancel one section only, and ETS does not refund the fee for a cancelled test.
GRE Information Bulletin 2026-27 (official PDF)The GRE has no merit list, no rank and no pass mark in its GRE exam results. Your GRE exam results are scaled scores and percentiles. Each school decides what they mean for admission. Read the GRE 2027 cutoff page for how schools treat scores. The GRE 2027 dates page explains why there is no common result date.
Your GRE exam results arrive in your ETS account about 8 to 10 days after the test.

ETS releases GRE exam results for each candidate separately, because the test runs all year. The 2026-27 rules below cover tests taken until 30 June 2027. They apply to all GRE exam results 2027 candidates receive. ETS has announced no change to how GRE exam results 2027 are reported.

The steps for GRE exam results 2027 are the same for every candidate. Wait out the GRE result time of 8 to 10 days. Then log in to your ETS account and read three section scores. Then send the scores to your schools.
The GRE score range is 130 to 170 for both Verbal Reasoning and Quantitative Reasoning, in 1-point steps. Your GRE exam results show scores inside this range. Analytical Writing is scored from 0 to 6 in half-point steps. A section with no answers gets No Score. This GRE score range holds for every test taken in 2027. ETS does not report a combined total. The 260 to 340 total that students quote is simply Verbal plus Quant.
No. Every score from 130 to 170 is valid, and ETS sets no pass mark. ETS tells schools that a minimum GRE score should not be the only reason to reject an applicant. Each school sets its own targets.
GRE result validity is five years: a score is reportable for five years after the test date. The bulletin gives an example: a test on 3 July 2022 can be reported through 2 July 2027. Send your scores early if the five-year date is close. GRE result validity is counted from the test date, not from the day you apply.

The GRE result time is about 8 to 10 days after your test administration. There is no common date for GRE exam results, because each candidate tests on a different day. Your GRE exam results date is your test date plus 8 to 10 days. This GRE result time stays the same all year.

The GRE result time is about 8 to 10 days. This is the same for Verbal, Quant and Analytical Writing, because ETS releases them together. Official scores go to your ETS account and to your chosen recipients together. Plan your school's deadline with at least 10 days of buffer. The GRE result time for the essay is the same 8 to 10 days.
You can see unofficial Verbal and Quant scores on screen if you choose to report your scores. These are not your final GRE exam results. Analytical Writing does not show, because the essay still has to be scored. The test centre cannot print unofficial scores. Only official GRE exam results in your ETS account are valid for applications.
You check your GRE exam results by logging in to the same ETS account you used to book. ETS sends an email when official scores are ready. The GRE results login is that account, and there is no separate result portal. Your account is at ets.org/mygre. The GRE results login uses the same email and password as your booking.
If the email does not arrive, use the GRE results login after 10 days. Look for your scores in the account. The ETS page on how to get your scores explains each step in detail.
The GRE results login is your ETS account, at ets.org/mygre. It is the account you created to book the GRE. Registration and scores sit in one place. If you cannot log in, contact ETS.
Your GRE scorecard is called the Test-taker Score Report. You see your GRE exam results on it in your ETS account. ETS also sends an institution score report to each school you choose. The two reports are not the same.
The institution report shows only the scores you chose to send. It adds your essay and photo through ETS Data Manager. It does not show other recipients or your unreported scores. It also gives no sign that you took other GRE tests. That is why choosing the right ScoreSelect option matters. See the next-steps section for how it works.
The GRE scorecard shows your personal details, your test dates, your scores and your percentile ranks. It also keeps a five-year record, in line with GRE result validity. ETS lists these items on the Test-taker Score Report:
Check your name, date of birth and test date as soon as your GRE exam results open. If you see an error in your GRE exam results, contact ETS at once. A wrong detail can delay your application. This page does not describe the layout of the report, because ETS shows no sample on its public pages.
ETS publishes a fixed score-to-percentile table, and you read your percentile from it. Find your GRE exam results in the table below. There is no formula you apply to your GRE exam results. A percentile rank is the share of test takers who scored lower than your score. The table uses test takers from 1 July 2022 to 30 June 2025. It comes from the ETS interpretive data guide.
ETS converts your raw score, which is the number of correct answers, into the 130 to 170 scale. It calls this equating. It adjusts for small differences in difficulty between test editions. It also adjusts for the section-level adaptation. All questions in a section count equally.

The same score means different percentiles in the two sections. A score of 164 is at the 93rd percentile in Verbal and the 63rd percentile in Quant. A score of 160 is at the 82nd percentile in Verbal and the 50th in Quant. So compare your Quant score with the Quant column only.
The Analytical Writing percentiles for the same period are below.
| Analytical Writing score | Percentile |
|---|---|
| 6.0 | 99 |
| 5.5 | 98 |
| 5.0 | 93 |

ETS also publishes a separate table for test takers who chose MBA as their objective. It uses older data, from 1 July 2020 to 30 June 2023, and the figures differ from the main table. Always quote the period with any percentile you use.
| Scaled score | MBA Verbal % below | MBA Quant % below |
|---|---|---|
| 170 | 99 | 96 |
| 165 | 92 | 82 |
| 160 | 74 | 63 |
| 155 | 51 | 43 |
| 150 | 29 | 25 |
ETS sets no target GRE score range, and schools set their own. Class profiles show what admitted students scored, and they are averages and not cutoffs. Harvard Business School reports a Class of 2027 middle 80% of 158 to 168 in Verbal. For Quant it is 159 to 169. Wharton reports Class of 2027 averages of 163 in Verbal and 162 in Quant. IIM Ahmedabad's PGPX 2026-27 brochure reports an average GRE of 322. Use the GRE 2027 colleges page to compare schools. Your GRE exam results only matter in light of a school's own range.
ETS publishes no GRE toppers list and no rank list with the GRE exam results. It publishes average scores by group. The latest ETS data read for this page is for 2024-25.
| Measure | All test takers, 2024-25 | Indian citizens, 2024-25 |
|---|---|---|
| Verbal mean | 152.0 | 151.0 |
| Quant mean | 156.9 | 158.6 |
| Analytical Writing mean | 3.5 | 3.3 |
These means cover test takers who took all three measures. The all-candidates group had 206,004 people. The group of Indian citizens had 34,477 people. India is the third-largest citizenship group, after the United States with 80,508 and China with 43,541.
Indian candidates score slightly higher in Quant and slightly lower in Verbal and Analytical Writing than the global mean. For 1 July 2022 to 30 June 2025, the global mean was 151.39 in Verbal and 157.62 in Quant. The Analytical Writing mean was 3.46. Do not mix these two periods in one comparison of GRE exam results.
After your GRE exam results arrive, check each school's score rules and send your scores before the school's deadline. ETS sends four free reports, and any extra report costs US$40. Use this order for GRE exam results 2027.
ISB gives a clear example for the 2027-28 cycle. For Round 3, the deadline is 17 January 2027. Your GRE must be dated between 18 January 2022 and 17 January 2027. ISB also accepts an unofficial test-day score if you take the test by the round deadline. Official scores must still reach ISB.
ScoreSelect lets you choose which test scores a school sees. For the four free reports on test day, you pick Most Recent or All. For later paid reports, you pick Most Recent, All or Any. ETS reports the scores of a test administration in full. Some programmes require all your scores, so read each school's rule.
You can retake the GRE once every 21 days, up to five times in any rolling 12-month period. This holds even if you cancelled a score on an earlier test. Each attempt needs a new booking and the full fee. See the GRE 2027 fees page for amounts.
You have three official options:
No. Cancelled scores are not added to your reportable history and no one can see them. ETS does not refund the fee for a cancelled test.
Yes. Order an Additional Score Report at US$40 per recipient. ETS processes it in about five business days. You cannot cancel, change or refund the order once placed.
No. ETS publishes no toppers and no rank. It publishes score statistics and percentile tables only.
Only if you send those scores. The institution report shows only the scores you chose to send. It gives no sign of other GRE tests.
To plan a retake, read the GRE 2027 exam pattern page. Check the ID rules on the GRE 2027 admit card page.

Together they create guides for Indian students and parents on colleges, entrance exams, and studying abroad. Atul has built a step-by-step content process that uses AI tools with a human in the loop. Every page goes through several stages. It starts with research, where each fact is checked on the official source. A second, independent source is then used to confirm that the fact is correct and the latest. Third-party sites are used only to spot differences and are never treated as a source. Before writing, the team studies what students actually search for and what the top results leave out. This study covers Google, Bing, DuckDuckGo, ChatGPT, and Perplexity, including AI answers and “People also ask” questions. Pages written by Atul are in plain English that can be understood in one read, and they open with the question the reader is most likely to have. Before a page goes live, every number, name, date, and fact is checked again against its official source. Finally, an editor reads and humanises every page, however good the draft is. Atul believes that advice on education should be simple, honest, and based on official facts. Fees and figures should come with their source. A student should be told clearly when a college is not the right fit.
