MHT CET 2026 registration ran online from 10 January 2026. The CET Cell originally set 12 February 2026 as the closing date, with fee payment till 13 February 2026, then extended the window twice more to a final 24 February 2026 (no late fee) and 27 February 2026 (with late fee), before briefly reopening it once again on 19-20 March 2026 for late applicants. The State CET Cell, Maharashtra conducted it, through cetcell.mahacet.org. This page covers that completed 2026 cycle. It explains eligibility, the exact steps, fee by category, documents by candidature type, the photograph rule, and the correction window that followed. MHT CET 2027 registration has not been notified yet, as of 23 September 2026. For the full MHT CET 2026 exam overview, check the main exam page.
The State CET Cell, Maharashtra ran MHT CET 2026 registration entirely online. Every applicant needed a working Aadhaar number. Every applicant also needed an APAAR ID, verified through DigiLocker. The table below lists the figures that mattered most during that cycle.

A candidate could pick one group, PCM or PCB, or both. A candidate could also add a second attempt in the same group. MHT CET 2026 ran across two exam sessions, so this mattered. Once your form was in, most candidates shifted straight into revision — the MHT CET 2026 recommended books page lists what to study for each group.

MHT CET 2026 registration opened on 10 January 2026. It was originally set to close on 12 February 2026, per the State CET Cell's official brochure, with fee payment till 13 February 2026. The CET Cell then extended the window twice more, closing it for good at 24 February 2026 without a late fee and 27 February 2026 with a late fee (Moneycontrol, 10 and 23 February 2026; KollegeApply, 21 February 2026), before briefly reopening it once again on 19-20 March 2026, with an additional Rs 500 late fee, for candidates who had missed every earlier deadline (Jagran Josh, Careers360, 18 March 2026).

PCM: 11–20 April (excluding 12 April). PCB: 21–26 April.
Two independent reports confirm the correction window itself. Free Press Journal and Careers360 both reported it live from 5 to 7 March 2026. Shiksha's own tracker recorded the same three-day span. For the complete admission calendar, exam dates and result date, see the full MHT CET 2026 dates page.
A candidate needs Indian nationality to register for MHT CET 2026. A candidate also needs a pass, or an appearing status, in HSC (Class 12) or an equivalent exam. There is no upper age limit, per the CET Cell's official brochure.
General or Open category candidates need 45% aggregate marks in HSC. Reserved category candidates need 40%. The PCM group needs Physics and Mathematics as compulsory subjects. The PCB group needs Physics and Chemistry as compulsory subjects. These marks decide eligibility to register, not your final rank. For the topic-wise weightage behind each group, check the MHT CET 2026 syllabus.
The CET Cell defines five Maharashtra State candidature types. These run from Type A to Type E. A candidate can claim only one type at registration.
| Type | Who qualifies (per the MHT-CET 2026 Information Brochure) |
|---|---|
| Type A | Passed SSC and HSC (or equivalent, or a Diploma in Engineering/D.Voc) from an institution in Maharashtra, and is domiciled in or born in Maharashtra |
| Type B | Does not fall under Type A, but a parent holds a Maharashtra domicile certificate |
| Type C | Does not fall under Type A or B; a parent is a Government of India (or GoI undertaking) employee posted in Maharashtra before the CAP deadline |
| Type D | Does not fall under Type A, B or C; a parent is a serving or retired Government of Maharashtra (or its undertaking) employee |
| Type E | Passed SSC and HSC from an institution in the Maharashtra-Karnataka border area, lives there, and has Marathi as the mother tongue |

Not always. All India candidature candidates could skip MHT CET 2026 for B.E./B.Tech admission. JEE Main 2026 is preferred over MHT CET for that seat, under this candidature. The same applied to B.Pharm/Pharm.D, where NEET 2026 is preferred instead. Maharashtra State and Minority candidature candidates had to appear regardless. NRI, OCI, PIO and foreign national candidates are exempted from MHT CET 2026 altogether.
Yes. Candidature type decides which state-quota reservation applies at CAP counselling. It also changes which cutoff rank you are judged against. Check the MHT CET 2026 cutoff page to see how Type A–E candidature shifts the closing rank at a given college.
MHT CET 2026 registration ran in five stages on cetcell.mahacet.org. These were: basic registration, detailed application, document upload, group selection with fee payment, and a printed confirmation page. Each stage had to be completed in order.
The CET Cell used both to confirm identity, through DigiLocker, per the official brochure. Your Aadhaar photograph, name, date of birth, gender and address all had to be current. A mismatch between Aadhaar and the form could delay, or even block, your application. Several other entrance exams skip this check at registration. A candidate with an outdated Aadhaar record risked losing time mid-form.
The registration fee is not refunded for any error, per the CET Cell's brochure. A candidate who made a mistake had to fill a fresh form. That fresh form needed a different mobile number and a different email ID. The fee had to be paid again for it. This made the correction window, covered further down this page, the only cost-free fix after submission.
MHT CET 2026 registration fee for a general category candidate was Rs 1,300 for one group. It was Rs 2,600 for both groups, per the State CET Cell's official brochure. Maharashtra's reserved category candidates paid Rs 1,000 for one group, and Rs 2,000 for both.
| Category | One group (PCM or PCB) | Both groups (PCM and PCB) |
|---|---|---|
| General/Open, Outside-Maharashtra (OMS), J&K migrant | Rs 1,300 | Rs 2,600 |
| Maharashtra reserved category (SC, ST, VJ/DT-NT(A), NT(B), NT(C), NT(D), OBC, SBC, SEBC, EWS, PWD), Orphan, Transgender | Rs 1,000 | Rs 2,000 |

J&K migrant candidates pay the general-category rate. This applies even where they hold a reservation category certificate. Payment gateway charges apply on top, for card, UPI or wallet transactions.
The registration fee is non-refundable and non-transferable
The CET Cell does not refund the MHT CET 2026 fee for any error in the form. A candidate who made a mistake had to submit a fresh application with a different mobile number and email ID, and pay the fee again.
No, both groups are billed together, at the combined rate. A general category candidate registering for PCM and PCB paid Rs 2,600 total for MHT CET 2026. That is not Rs 1,300 charged twice. Practising with the MHT CET 2026 question papers for both groups before you pay can help you decide if the extra fee is worth it.
MHT CET 2026 candidates needed a working Aadhaar card at registration. They also needed an APAAR ID, verified through DigiLocker. Category and candidature documents are checked mainly at the CAP (Centralized Admission Process) stage, not during online registration itself.
The brochure states this directly. A candidate "will be required to submit the Caste Certificate, Caste Validity Certificate, Non Creamy Layer Certificate, EWS Certificate as per the State Government format, whichever applicable, at the time of filling in CAP Application Form to be considered under the Category." In plain terms, a category claim made at registration gets confirmed later, at CAP, against the actual certificate.
The document needed generally follows from what defines that candidature type. Independent CAP-preparation checklists, used here only to cross-check and never as the authority, list these as the typical proof documents.
| Candidature type | Document that typically proves it |
|---|---|
| Type A | Domicile certificate, or a birth certificate showing Maharashtra as place of birth, or a School Leaving Certificate confirming study in Maharashtra |
| Type B | The father's or mother's Maharashtra domicile certificate, not the candidate's own |
| Type C | Employer certificate confirming the parent's posting in Maharashtra as a Government of India employee, before the CAP deadline |
| Type D | Employer certificate, or a retirement/settlement document, for a Government of Maharashtra employee parent |
| Type E | A certificate confirming residence in the Maharashtra-Karnataka border area, plus a certificate confirming Marathi as the mother tongue |
Reserved category candidates need a caste certificate and a caste validity certificate too. This covers SC, ST, VJ/DT-NT(A/B/C/D), OBC and SBC. A non-creamy layer certificate, valid for the current year, applies where relevant. EWS candidates need the EWS eligibility certificate in the state's own format. PwD candidates need a disability certificate. It must state the disability is permanent, and at least 40% in extent, per the brochure's own appendices.
Every candidate needs the Class 10 (SSC) marksheet. The Class 12 (HSC) marksheet, or an appearing certificate, is needed too. A government photo ID and the scanned photograph round off the list. The Class 10 marksheet matters most for date of birth, since the CET Cell cross-checks this detail against it. These same documents carry forward into CAP once your scorecard is out. The MHT CET 2026 colleges page lists which institutes accept the score, and what each expects at its own verification stage.
MHT CET 2026's application form asked only for a photograph upload. It did not ask for a separate signature upload. This is stated in the Photo Specifications section of the CET Cell's official brochure. The photograph had to be 2-inch by 2-inch, or 50 mm by 50 mm. It had to be in colour, and cover about 80% of the frame.

The brochure lists more rules for the photograph. It must show the full face, front view, with eyes open. It must show the full head, from the top of the hair to the bottom of the chin. The expression should be neutral, and the head centred in the frame. The background should be plain, light-coloured or white, with no shadows on the face or behind it. A head covering is allowed only for religious reasons, and only if the face from chin to forehead stays visible. Eyeglasses are allowed. Tinted or dark glasses are not, and the brochure asks candidates to tilt the head slightly to avoid glare.
No. The CET Cell's official 2026 brochure does not publish one, unlike many other entrance exams. Several exam-prep websites quote signature dimensions and file sizes for MHT CET. These figures do not agree with each other. None of them trace back to a citable line in the CET Cell's own MHT-CET 2026 Information Brochure. Treat any such figure as unconfirmed. Instead, rely on the identity documents the brochure does specify for the exam centre: the admit card, plus an original photo ID such as a PAN card, passport, driving licence, voter's card, or Aadhaar with photograph.
It risks rejection during the CET Cell's own verification. That can delay your application, or force a resubmission. The correction window, covered next, was the only route to fix a rejected or wrongly cropped photograph after submission. Getting this right the first time avoids that risk entirely. Carry the same photo ID you registered with to the exam centre, and match it against your MHT CET 2026 admit card.
The MHT CET 2026 form correction window ran from 5 to 7 March 2026. It was a one-time facility, for candidates who had already registered and paid the fee, in the PCM and PCB groups. Free Press Journal and Careers360 both reported the window live on 5 March 2026. It closed at 11:59 PM on 7 March 2026.
Candidates could edit their name, date of birth, photograph, signature and gender. They could also add a second group, or a second attempt. This is per contemporaneous reporting on the window. Personal details such as parents' names, mobile number and email ID stayed fixed. The CET Cell treats these as permanent identifiers once verified at registration. There was no fee for using the window.
The CET Cell called the March 2026 window a one-time facility, for the PCM and PCB groups. No further edit opportunity was announced afterward, for that cycle. A candidate who missed an error after 7 March 2026 had to carry it forward. No fee-free correction route remained. This is a real planning risk. Check every field twice before the window closes. A wrong name or date of birth here can cause a problem all the way through to your MHT CET 2026 result, since the scorecard is issued against these exact details.
These are the questions candidates asked most often about the MHT CET 2026 registration cycle. For what comes after the exam itself, from the provisional MHT CET 2026 answer key to the final scorecard, see those pages separately.
Answers to what readers ask most often.
No, MHT CET 2026 registration is closed. It was originally due to close 12 February 2026, but the CET Cell extended it twice more to 24 and then 27 February 2026 (with late fee), and briefly reopened it again on 19-20 March 2026 for late applicants. The one-time correction window closed on 7 March 2026. As of 23 September 2026, MHT CET 2027 registration has not been notified by the State CET Cell. The MHT CET 2026 fee for a general category candidate was Rs 1,300 for one group and Rs 2,600 for both groups (PCM and PCB). Maharashtra's reserved category candidates paid Rs 1,000 and Rs 2,000. J&K migrant candidates paid the general-category rate. Data Sources: MHT-CET 2026 Information Brochure, State CET Cell, Maharashtra.
Not always. A domicile certificate is needed only for candidature Type B, C, D or E, or for reserved-category benefits tied to Maharashtra residence. Type A candidates can instead use a birth certificate or a School Leaving Certificate showing study in Maharashtra. Data Sources: MHT-CET 2026 Information Brochure, State CET Cell, Maharashtra.
Yes, MHT CET 2026 was open to all Indian nationals under All India candidature, but state-quota reservation applied only to Maharashtra State candidates. All India candidature candidates could skip MHT CET for B.E./B.Tech and B.Pharm/Pharm.D, since JEE Main and NEET scores are preferred there.
