MHT CET 2026 does have a formal, challengeable answer key process. The State CET Cell, Maharashtra, releases a provisional answer key for every session, opens a paid objection window, and then publishes a final key used to compute results. This is closer to how JEE Main works than to exams that skip a challenge stage altogether.
One thing sets it apart. The State CET Cell never posts the MHT CET answer key as an open PDF on cetcell.mahacet.org for anyone to download. Every version, provisional and final, sits inside your own candidate login, tied to your application number. This page explains what is actually published, how to read it against your response sheet, and how the objection process works, using the completed MHT CET 2026 cycle as the reference (State CET Cell, cetcell.mahacet.org).
MHT CET 2026 was held in two sessions for both the PCM and PCB groups, and results for both are already out. MHT CET 2027 has not been notified yet, so no 2027 dates appear on this page.

The State CET Cell released four separate provisional answer keys for MHT CET 2026, one for each group and session. It followed each with a paid objection window and a final key.
MHT CET 2026 ran two sessions each for the PCM (Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics) and PCB (Physics, Chemistry, Biology) groups. Every session got its own provisional answer key, its own response sheet, and its own objection window, because the CET Cell scores each session separately before combining results through normalisation. Check the MHT CET exam pattern page for how the two papers are structured.

Your raw score from the response sheet and answer key is the number you calculate yourself. The score used for the MHT CET result and merit list is normalised across sessions, and the CET Cell has not published the exact normalisation formula publicly.

The PCM Session 1 provisional answer key came out on 20 May 2026, and the Session 2 key followed on 28 May 2026. Each carried its own response sheet and question paper, and each had a separate objection window that closed two days later, per the State CET Cell's notices reported by the Times of India and Careers360.
The PCB Session 1 provisional key was released on 13 May 2026, with the final key out on 21 May 2026 after objection review. Session 2's PCB key followed on 23 May 2026, per Careers360 and Shiksha's live coverage of the CET Cell portal.
Yes, the final keys for both PCB sessions and PCM Session 1 have already been released, and results for all sessions are declared. The CET Cell used each session's final key, not the provisional one, to compute the score behind your MHT CET result.
You download the MHT CET answer key by logging in to cetcell.mahacet.org with your application number and password, not from a public link. The same login also gives you your response sheet and question paper.
The key is not permanently hosted
The State CET Cell keeps each session's provisional key accessible for only a few days around the objection window. Save your copy immediately after it is released, because it is not archived as an open download later.
You need the same application number and password you used for your MHT CET admit card, not the admit card itself. The CET Cell verifies you through your registered login, and a lost password can be reset through the portal's forgot-password option.
Three documents open together: the question paper for your exact shift, your response sheet, and the provisional answer key. The response sheet shows what you actually selected. The answer key shows what the CET Cell marks as correct.
The only official source for the MHT CET answer key is the candidate login on cetcell.mahacet.org. The State CET Cell does not maintain a public, ungated PDF link for any session's key.
Third-party exam portals sometimes host copies of past MHT CET answer keys for reference. Treat these as unofficial. A number that differs from what your own candidate login showed should always be checked against your saved copy of the official key, or against the MHT CET result page once your final score is out.
The response sheet and the answer key are two different documents, and MHT CET candidates often mix them up. The response sheet shows what you chose. The answer key shows what the CET Cell says is correct.
| Response Sheet | Answer Key | |
|---|---|---|
| What it shows | Your own selected option for every question | The State CET Cell's official correct option |
| Who generates it | Recorded automatically during your CBT attempt | Prepared by the CET Cell's subject experts after the exam |
| Can it change | No, it is a fixed record of what you clicked | Yes, the provisional version can change into a final version after objections |
| Used to calculate | Nothing on its own | Your raw score, once matched against the response sheet |
| Access | Candidate login only | Candidate login only |
No, the response sheet only records what you actually selected on screen, so it cannot be factually wrong. If a response looks unfamiliar, it usually means you clicked an option and moved on without noticing, which the computer-based format allows.
No, the answer key alone does not show your score. You get your raw score by comparing every question in your response sheet against the matching question in the answer key. Then apply the marking scheme to add up the total.
You can challenge any MHT CET answer key question by paying Rs 1,000 per objection and submitting proof through the candidate portal. The State CET Cell does not accept objections by email, post, or in person.
A subject-expert panel appointed by the State CET Cell reviews every objection against the textbook or syllabus reference submitted with it. Objections without a valid reference are typically not accepted, per the CET Cell's own instructions reported by Collegedekho and freejobalert.
No, the fee is non-refundable whether your objection is accepted or rejected, per Times of India, Hindustan Times and the Economic Times' coverage of the 2024, 2025 and 2026 cycles. The State CET Cell keeps the fee non-refundable specifically to discourage objections filed without real grounds.
The disputed question's correct option is corrected, or the question is dropped and full marks given to everyone, in the final answer key. The PCB Session 1 final key for 2026 dropped two questions after review, per Careers360.
Yes, the candidate login carries an Objection Tracking or Grievances section showing whether each objection is under review, accepted, or rejected, once the CET Cell finishes its evaluation.
It costs Rs 1,000 for every question you challenge, paid online and non-refundable. This fee has stayed the same across the 2024, 2025 and 2026 MHT CET cycles, per official notices reported by the Economic Times and Times of India.
You need a specific reference, usually the exact textbook and page number from the Maharashtra State Board syllabus, that supports the answer you believe is correct. A general disagreement without a citation is unlikely to be accepted by the review panel.
No, the State CET Cell does not accept objections once that session's window closes. Missing the window means accepting the result computed from the provisional key as final for that question.
You calculate your MHT CET score by matching every question in your response sheet against the answer key and adding up marks for correct answers only. There is no negative marking, so wrong or unanswered questions simply score zero.
Raw score formula, PCM group:
Raw score = (Mathematics correct × 2) + (Physics correct × 1) + (Chemistry correct × 1)
Worked example, PCM: a candidate gets 40 out of 50 in Mathematics, 35 out of 50 in Physics, and 38 out of 50 in Chemistry.
Raw score = (40 × 2) + (35 × 1) + (38 × 1) = 80 + 35 + 38 = 153 out of 200.
Raw score formula, PCB group:
Raw score = (Physics correct × 1) + (Chemistry correct × 1) + (Biology correct × 1)
Worked example, PCB: a candidate gets 30 out of 50 in Physics, 32 out of 50 in Chemistry, and 70 out of 100 in Biology.
Raw score = 30 + 32 + 70 = 132 out of 200.
Raw score is not your final percentile
The number you calculate from the response sheet and answer key is a raw score for one session only. The State CET Cell normalises scores across sessions and shifts before preparing the merit list, so your final percentile on the MHT CET result can differ from this raw number.
No, MHT CET 2026 had no negative marking in either the PCM or PCB group. A wrong answer scores zero, the same as an unattempted question. That means you lose nothing by attempting every question you can.
Your raw score is only for the exact shift you sat in, but the CET Cell normalises scores across all shifts and sessions before ranking. Two candidates with the same raw score in different shifts can end up with different normalised percentiles on the MHT CET result.
The State CET Cell does not maintain a public archive of past MHT CET answer key PDFs on cetcell.mahacet.org. Each year's key is visible only inside that year's candidate login, for a short window around the objection period, and is not republished afterward.
This is a genuine gap in what the official source makes available, not an oversight in this research. Multiple official-sourced press reports across 2024, 2025 and 2026 confirm the same login-gated pattern every year, with no standing public download page for older keys.
| Year | Objection Fee | Objection Window Length | Sessions Held |
|---|---|---|---|
| 2024 | Rs 1,000 per question, non-refundable | Around 2-3 days | One session per group |
| 2025 | Rs 1,000 per question, non-refundable | PCB: 19-21 May. PCM: 22-24 May | One session per group, plus a retest for 24,744 PCM candidates after a 27 April paper was cancelled |
| 2026 | Rs 1,000 per question, non-refundable | 2-3 days per session (varied by group and attempt) | Two full sessions per group, for both PCM and PCB |
The Rs 1,000 non-refundable objection fee and the short 2-3 day window have stayed consistent for at least three cycles. What changed in 2026 was the exam calendar itself: both groups got two full attempts, against one regular attempt plus a partial retest in 2025.
If you need a specific past year's questions and official answers for practice, check the MHT CET question paper page instead. It tracks what is genuinely available from the CET Cell and other verified sources, rather than relying on an answer key archive the CET Cell itself does not keep.
Before you plan your next step, check the MHT CET cutoff trends for your category, and see which HT CET colleges your expected raw score is likely to reach once your normalised result is out.
Answers to what readers ask most often.
Mathematics carries 2 marks per correct answer across 50 questions (100 marks). Physics and Chemistry together carry 1 mark per correct answer across 100 questions (100 marks). The official brochure does not publish an exact per-subject split within that combined block, so a commonly assumed 50/50 divide is an unofficial estimate. Total: 200 marks.
Physics and Chemistry together carry 1 mark per correct answer across 100 questions (100 marks). The official brochure does not publish an exact per-subject split within that combined block. Biology carries 1 mark per correct answer across 100 questions (100 marks). The brochure does not break this down into a Botany-versus-Zoology question count either. Total: 200 marks.
