MHT CET 2026 Application Dates

When did MHT CET 2026 registration open and close?

Registration opened on 10 January 2026 on cetcell.mahacet.org, for candidates applying to either the PCM or the PCB group, or both. The CET Cell first set 12 February 2026 as the last date, with a fee-payment-only extension to 13 February 2026. The Cell then extended the window twice more, to 24 February 2026 without late fee and 27 February 2026 with a late fee (Moneycontrol, 10 January 2026; KollegeApply, 21 February 2026, citing the CET Cell's final-extension notice). It briefly reopened registration once more, for candidates who had still missed every earlier deadline, on 19 and 20 March 2026 with an additional Rs 500 late fee (Source: cetcell.mahacet.org revised notice; Jagran Josh, Careers360, 18 March 2026). It then closed the window for good ahead of the April attempt.

A candidate registering under this window applied once for the whole cycle. The Cell did not reopen registration separately for the May attempt. For the fee amount by category and the document checklist, see MHT CET registration and application form.

Was there a separate correction window?

Yes, the CET Cell opened an online correction facility after registration closed, for candidates to fix photograph, category or subject-group errors before admit cards were generated. The exact correction dates sat inside the same notice that confirmed the final registration extension, so a candidate who registered late also had a shorter correction window. Details of what could and could not be corrected are on the MHT CET registration and application form page.

MHT CET 2026 Admit Card Date

MHT CET 2026 never had one common admit card date. The CET Cell issued its first notice on the hall-ticket schedule on 17 March 2026, and then released each group's admit card separately, 3 to 4 days before that group's own exam started.

Group and attemptAdmit card releasedExam startedGap
PCM, attempt 17 April 202611 April 20264 days
PCB, attempt 117 April 202621 April 20264 days

PCM, attempt 28 May 202612 May 2026 (window later extended to 21 May)4 days

Sources: Jagran Josh (7 April 2026); Times of India and Indian Express (17 April 2026); Indian Express and news reports citing the CET Cell (6 and 8 May 2026 releases).

Why does the admit card come out so close to the exam?

Because MHT CET runs across many shifts and cities, and the CET Cell finalises each candidate's centre, date and shift only shortly before that shift begins. A city-intimation slip goes out first, followed by the actual admit card 3 to 4 days before the exam. A candidate registered for both attempts received two separate admit cards, one for April and one for May. Full download steps and the ID proofs to carry on exam day are on MHT CET admit card 2026.

MHT CET 2026 Exam Date and Timings

MHT CET 2026's first attempt ran PCM from 11 to 20 April 2026, skipping 12 April, across 16 test sessions. About 4.54 lakh candidates appeared, out of roughly 4.79 lakh who had registered for that attempt. PCB attempt 1 ran from 21 to 26 April 2026 across 11 sessions, with about 2.63 lakh candidates appearing (source: the CET Cell's official PCM and PCB Attempt-1 press notes).

The second attempt reversed the usual order. PCB attempt 2 ran on 10 and 11 May 2026, and PCM attempt 2 ran from 12 to 21 May 2026 (excluding 16 and 17 May), after the CET Cell revised the window from an initial 12-16 May 2026 schedule set out in Public Notice No. TED-1125/C.R.56/CET 2026/703/2026 dated 16 March 2026, due to the high volume of PCM registrations (Source: cetcell.mahacet.org revised notice; Careers360, Jagran Josh, late April 2026). Each day carried two shifts, a morning and an afternoon session, as in earlier cycles.

Did every candidate have to appear for both attempts?

No, appearing for the second attempt was optional. The rule for 2026 is straightforward: a candidate's best percentile score, from either attempt, counts for the final merit list. A student happy with an April score could skip May entirely. The exam is a 100-mark, 90-minute-per-subject-group computer-based test with no negative marking. The full section-wise breakup sits on MHT CET exam pattern 2026.

Did MHT CET 2026 have any exam-day changes from previous years?

The two-attempt, best-of-two-scores structure itself was not new. It has run since 2023. What did change in 2026 was volume: PCM attempt 1 alone accounted for 16 separate test sessions, a scale the Cell needed to manage across hundreds of centres statewide.

MHT CET 2026 Answer Key Date

Yes, MHT CET runs a formal, challengeable answer-key process. The CET Cell releases a provisional key first, opens a fixed objection window with a per-question fee, and only then publishes the final key after reviewing every valid objection. This runs separately for each subject group and each attempt, never as one combined national key.

PCB, Attempt 1 (exam: 21-26 Apr 2026)

Provisional key: 13 May 2026. Objection window: till 15 May 2026. Final key: 21 May 2026. (Source: Times of India, Economic Times.)

PCM, Attempt 1 (exam: 11-20 Apr 2026)

Provisional key: 20 May 2026. Objection window: till 22 May 2026. Final key: 30 May 2026. (Source: Times of India, Outlook India, Economic Times, 20 May 2026.)

PCB, Attempt 2 (exam: 10-11 May 2026)

Provisional key: 23 May 2026. Objection window: till 25 May 2026. Final key released in the run-up to the group's result.

PCM, Attempt 2 (exam: 12-21 May 2026)

Provisional key: 28 May 2026. Objection window: till 30 May 2026. Objection redressal for this attempt was completed by early June 2026.

Each objection costs Rs 1,000 per question challenged, paid online through the candidate's login, non-refundable if the objection is rejected. A candidate needed a textbook reference or an equivalent proof to support a challenge. The CET Cell's subject experts reviewed every valid claim before the final key went live. Full download steps, the exact scoring formula and how to file an objection are covered on MHT CET answer key 2026.

This confirms, for anyone comparing MHT CET with other entrance exams, that it does not skip straight to a single final key. Every group and every attempt got its own provisional-key, objection, final-key cycle in 2026, matching the pattern the Cell also followed in 2024 and 2025.

MHT CET 2026 Result Date

MHT CET 2026 results were declared group-wise and attempt-wise, not on one common date. PCB attempt-1 result came out on 9 June 2026. PCM attempt-1 result became accessible from 15 June 2026. PCB attempt-2 result followed on 18 June 2026, per the State CET Cell's own press note No. TED-1226/C.No.05/PCB Result/CET/2026/1441, dated 18 June 2026 — the official date to rely on over any third-party listing of 17 June. PCM attempt-2 result followed on 19 June 2026, per the CET Cell's press note No. TED-1226/C.No.05/PCB Result/CET/2026/1447.

A candidate's final percentile is the better of the two attempts, so the result that actually decides admission chances is whichever score is higher. The scorecard carries subject-wise and aggregate percentile, not raw marks, along with the qualifying status and All-India Rank. How percentile is calculated, and what each field on the scorecard means, is explained on MHT CET result 2026.

Why does MHT CET report percentile instead of a rank straightaway?

Because the exam runs across many shifts with different question papers, and percentile normalises scores across shifts before any rank or merit position is worked out. A raw mark from a harder shift is not directly comparable to one from an easier shift, so normalisation comes first.

MHT CET 2026 Counselling and Admission Dates

CAP (Centralised Admission Process) 2026 for engineering, technology, pharmacy and other technical courses ran through four rounds between late July and early September 2026, followed by institutional-level rounds for seats still vacant after Round 4.

CAP 2026 cutoff date revised to 14 September

13 September 2026

The CET Cell moved the final admission cutoff for all UG and PG technical courses to 14 September 2026, following AICTE and Supreme Court directions, after an earlier cutoff-date notice on 7 September 2026. Candidates in CAP or institutional rounds needed to report, verify documents and pay fees by this date to avoid admission cancellation.

Check the cutoff trend

How many CAP rounds does MHT CET run?

MHT CET CAP runs four centralised rounds, followed by an institutional-level round for any seats still vacant after Round 4. A candidate who does not get, or does not accept, a seat in Rounds 1 to 3 can still take part in Round 4 and, if needed, the institutional round. For where your percentile stood in each round, see MHT CET cutoff 2026, and for which colleges came up at each cutoff level, see MHT CET colleges.

What happens if a candidate misses the CAP cutoff date?

A candidate who has not reported, verified documents and paid fees by the cutoff date risks losing the allotted seat, and the seat is treated as vacant for the next round. The 14 September 2026 date applied to every admission pathway, including CAP allotment and institute-level vacant-seat rounds, per the CET Cell's revised notice.

Comparing 2024, 2025 and 2026 shows the same broad shape every year: registration in January-February, the exam in April-May, results in June, and CAP counselling from July into September. What has shifted is the number of attempts and how often deadlines get extended.

Exam dates were revised twice before the final schedule held: PCB ran 22, 23, 24, 28, 29 and 30 April 2024, and PCM ran 2, 3, 4, 9, 10, 11, 15, 16 and 17 May 2024 (Hindustan Times, 24 and 29 March 2024). The provisional answer key came out on 21 May 2024, with objections open till 26 May 2024; the final key was published alongside the result. The result was declared on 16 June 2024 at 6 PM (Times of India; CET Cell result notice, cetcell.mahacet.org). This was a single-attempt cycle, unlike 2026's two-attempt format.

Is the MHT CET exam getting earlier or later each year?

The exam window has stayed anchored to April-May across 2024, 2025 and 2026, with the exact start date shifting by a week or two depending on board-exam and holiday calendars each year. 2026 was the first year the second attempt pushed the overall cycle into mid-May, because the April attempt alone could not accommodate the higher number of registrations.

Does the result date move if the exam window shifts?

Yes, broadly by the same margin. Results landed in mid-June in 2024, mid-to-late June in 2025, and 9-19 June in 2026. The CET Cell has kept roughly a 5 to 6 week gap between an attempt's last exam day and that attempt's result, across all three years.

Commonly asked questions

Answers to what readers ask most often.

Q: Has MHT CET 2026 been conducted?

Yes, MHT CET 2026 is fully conducted, in two attempts. Attempt 1 ran PCM from 11-20 April and PCB from 21-26 April 2026. Attempt 2 ran PCB on 10-11 May and PCM from 12-21 May 2026 (excluding 16 and 17 May), after the CET Cell extended the window from an initial 12-16 May schedule. Data Sources: cetcell.mahacet.org revised notice; State CET Cell Public Notice No. TED-1125/C.R.56/CET 2026/703/2026, dated 16 March 2026.

Q: When will MHT CET 2027 dates be released?

The State CET Cell had not released MHT CET 2027 dates as of 23 September 2026. Registrations for a new cycle have typically opened in January in recent years, but that is a pattern, not an official date. Data Sources: cetcell.mahacet.org (checked 23 September 2026).

Q: Does MHT CET release a provisional answer key before the final one?

Yes, MHT CET releases a provisional answer key with a paid objection window, then a separate final answer key after review, for every group and attempt. In 2026, PCB attempt 1's final key came out on 21 May and PCM attempt 1's on 30 May. Data Sources: Times of India, Economic Times, Outlook India, May 2026.

Q: Why did MHT CET 2026 have two separate exam attempts?

MHT CET has offered two attempts since 2023 so a candidate's best percentile score counts, reducing the stakes of one bad exam day. Appearing for the second attempt was optional, and skipping it did not affect a candidate's admission chances if the first score was already satisfactory.
