Download the IIT JAM exam question papers as PDF files from jam.iitkgp.ac.in, the 2027 official site. Follow these steps.
The sample below is the 2026 Mathematics paper with its answer key, as hosted on the JAM website.
The JAM website gives IIT JAM exam question papers with answer keys, not with solutions. A key tells you the right answer. It does not show the steps.
No, the official site has no worked solutions for the IIT JAM exam question papers. Searches such as IIT JAM question papers mathematics with solutions lead to files that the JAM body did not publish. Use the official key to check your answer, and solve the steps yourself. No IIT JAM sample papers with solutions come from the JAM body either.
The key works differently in each section:
Use the same method for the IIT JAM question paper physics file and the IIT JAM question paper chemistry file. Mark your answers, compare them with the key, and note why each miss happened. The IIT JAM 2027 answer key page explains the live key process.
The IIT JAM question paper 2026 is the latest set, and it comes with an answer key for every paper. IIT Bombay organised JAM 2026, and the exam was held on 15 Feb 2026. The JAM 2027 website now hosts these IIT JAM exam question papers.
The latest of the IIT JAM exam question papers is JAM 2026. Open the file for your paper from this table. The last column shows how many candidates appeared in each paper in 2026, as per the JAM 2026 statistical report.
| Paper | Official 2026 file | Appeared in 2026 |
|---|---|---|
| Biotechnology (BT) | 11,084 | |
| Chemistry (CY) | 11,021 | |
| Economics (EN) | 2,807 | |
| Geology (GG) | 1,813 | |
| Mathematics (MA) | 9,617 | |
| Mathematical Statistics (MS) | 2,705 | |
| Physics (PH) | 9,123 |
In total, 48,170 candidates appeared across the seven papers in 2026. These IIT JAM exam question papers also help you compare papers. Mathematics and Physics each drew over 9,000 candidates. Economics, Mathematical Statistics and Geology each drew under 3,000. The full numbers are in the and on the IIT JAM 2027 results page.
IIT JAM exam question papers are paper-wise, not slot-wise. The exam runs on one day, and each paper has its own code. The sessions only fix the timing.
No, the IIT JAM exam question papers have no slot-wise version. For 2027, the forenoon session (9:30 am to 12:30 pm) holds CY, GG and MA. The afternoon session (2:30 pm to 5:30 pm) holds BT, EN, MS and PH. You may choose two papers only if they fall in different sessions.
Each code in the lists below opens the official PDF for that year. Pick your paper from this list:

2025: , , , , , , .
2024: , , , , , , .
2023: , , , , , , .
2022: , , , , , , .
The 2023 Geology file and all 2022 files carry the question paper only. The other IIT JAM exam question papers include the answer key.
The JAM website offers one free mock test for each paper. These are the only official IIT JAM sample papers. Open them from the JAM mock test page. Each mock test is free.
Free IIT JAM sample papers are available as mock tests, but not with worked solutions. Any IIT JAM sample papers with solutions that you see elsewhere are not official. Treat each mock test as a way to learn the computer-based screen.
The exam is a computer-based test. Questions appear in a random order on screen. On exam day, a virtual calculator is provided and you may not bring your own. A scribble pad is also provided, and you return it at the end. Practise your rough work with these limits in mind.
Take the mock test after you have solved two or three IIT JAM exam question papers. The mock test then checks your speed on the screen, and the papers check your topics. Put your results into your plan with the IIT JAM 2027 books page.
Solving IIT JAM exam question papers shows you the pattern in use, and the pattern has not changed. Every paper from 2025 to 2027 has Section A (30 MCQs), Section B (10 MSQs) and Section C (20 NATs).
The practical benefits are these:
One caution applies to Economics. The 2027 EN syllabus was revised and reordered, with Mathematics for Economics placed first. An old EN paper may carry topics that moved or changed. Tick each question against the 2027 syllabus before you count it as useful practice. Take IIT JAM sample papers only after this check.
The best way to solve IIT JAM exam question papers is to sit one full paper. Give it 3 hours, then score it with the official key. Start with the IIT JAM question paper 2026 and move backward.
Score your own paper with the official marking scheme. Use it for any of the IIT JAM question papers. Section A gives +1 or +2 for each correct MCQ, minus 1/3 or 2/3 for each wrong one. Section B gives +2 only for an exact set. Section C gives +1 or +2 for each correct NAT. The total is out of 100.
Here is a worked check. Take 18 correct 2-mark MCQs and 2 wrong ones in Section A. The score is 36 minus 4/3, which is 34.67 marks. This example is plain arithmetic, not an official score.
Follow this routine for each paper:
Not if you want exam-day practice. The real test gives only a virtual calculator, and own calculators are not allowed.
Finish the syllabus for your paper first, then take full papers. A full paper on unfinished topics tells you little.
Use the IIT JAM 2027 cutoff page to see what a good score meant in 2026 and 2025. Read the full cycle on the IIT JAM 2027 exam overview. For more official practice beyond the IIT JAM exam question papers, see the IIT JAM 2027 books page.

Atul has built a step-by-step content process that uses AI tools with a human in the loop. Every page goes through several stages. It starts with research, where each fact is checked on the official source. A second, independent source is then used to confirm that the fact is correct and the latest. Third-party sites are used only to spot differences and are never treated as a source. Before writing, the team studies what students actually search for and what the top results leave out. This study covers Google, Bing, DuckDuckGo, ChatGPT, and Perplexity, including AI answers and “People also ask” questions. Pages written by Atul are in plain English that can be understood in one read, and they open with the question the reader is most likely to have. Before a page goes live, every number, name, date, and fact is checked again against its official source. Finally, an editor reads and humanises every page, however good the draft is. Atul believes that advice on education should be simple, honest, and based on official facts. Fees and figures should come with their source. A student should be told clearly when a college is not the right fit.
