IIT JAM 2027 applications opened on 11 September 2026 and close on 22 October 2026. This is the only application window before the IIT JAM exam date of 14 February 2027. You apply on JOAPS at jam.iitkgp.ac.in.
The application form is separate from the later admission application. You apply for admission only after the result. No change to the IIT JAM 2027 exam date has been announced.
The last date is 22 October 2026, extended from 19 October 2026. The brochure says payment runs until 19 October 2026, with no separate extension stated. Check that your application form status shows Accepted on JOAPS.
The correction window opens on 10 November 2026, and the date is tentative. A change of paper or an added paper must be done before 10 November 2026. Each change costs ₹300 plus the difference in application fee. The FAQ on the JAM website also says defects will be rectified tentatively before 10 November 2026.
The application fee is ₹1,000 for one paper and ₹1,350 for two papers. This applies to female, SC, ST and PwD candidates. Others pay ₹2,000 and ₹2,700. Final-year students can apply, but the degree must be complete before the admission date of the admitting institute. Read the IIT JAM 2027 fees page for the full break-up.
The JAM 2027 brochure says the admit card is available from 5 January 2027 until the IIT JAM exam date. The website admit-card page says 5 January 2026. That is a leftover from the last cycle.
The card is not sent by post or email. You download it from JOAPS. The IIT JAM 2027 admit card page has the download steps.
The brochure gives 5 January 2027 as the release date, but the release date can slip. In 2026 the admit card was planned for 5 January. It was released on 13 January 2026, about a month before the IIT JAM exam date 2026. Plan to download it within a day of release, long before the IIT JAM exam date. Errors need time to fix. Report errors to jam@iitkgp.ac.in.
The IIT JAM exam date 2027 is 14 February 2027, and each paper is a three-hour computer-based test. The exam runs in a forenoon and an afternoon session on the same day.
| Session | Time | Papers |
|---|---|---|
| Forenoon (FN) | 9:30 am to 12:30 pm | CY, GG, MA |
| Afternoon (AN) | 2:30 pm to 5:30 pm | BT, EN, MS, PH |
The papers are Biotechnology (BT), Chemistry (CY), Economics (EN), Geology (GG), Mathematics (MA), Mathematical Statistics (MS) and Physics (PH).
On the IIT JAM exam date you can write two papers only if they are in different sessions. If your first paper is CY, GG or MA, your second must be BT, EN, MS or PH. If your first paper is from the afternoon list, your second must be CY, GG or MA. CY with MA is not allowed because both are in the forenoon.
The forenoon session runs from 9:30 am to 12:30 pm. The afternoon session runs from 2:30 pm to 5:30 pm. Candidates with a benchmark disability get 60 minutes of extra time automatically. Their sessions end at 1:30 pm and 6:30 pm. The reporting time and gate-closing time are not published.
No IIT JAM 2027 answer key date is announced. The response sheet, the challenge window and the challenge fee are also not announced. The organiser published keys in both 2025 and 2026, so a schedule is likely after the exam.
The IIT JAM exam date 2026 was 15 February 2026. The candidate responses and master paper were viewable on 18 February 2026. The challenge window ran from 24 to 27 February 2026. The IIT JAM exam date 2025 was 2 February 2025. The keys were displayed on 14 February 2025, and the challenge ran from 14 to 20 February 2025. These two cycles suggest 2027 responses three to twelve days after the IIT JAM 2027 exam date. That is an expectation, not an official date.
The key release date is not announced. The final answer keys and qualifying marks appear on the Master Question Papers and Answer Keys page after the result. The IIT JAM 2027 answer key page explains how to read and challenge the key.
The IIT JAM 2027 result date is 18 March 2027, as shown on the JAM 2027 homepage. It is the only place where the date appears, so treat it as tentative. The result release date falls about a month after the IIT JAM exam date 2027. The result gives your All India Rank (AIR) in each paper.
In 2026 the result went live on 19 March 2026, 32 days after the IIT JAM exam date 2026. The tentative date had been 20 March. In 2025, about six weeks after the IIT JAM exam date 2025, the website said 18 March. The schedule table said 19 March.
The scorecard date is not announced. In 2026 the scorecard became available on 26 March 2026, seven days after the result. A scorecard is issued only to qualified candidates. The IIT JAM 2027 result page explains AIR and scorecards.
IIT JAM 2027 counselling dates are not announced. IIT Kharagpur will publish the 2027 Admission Brochure in the second week of March 2027. JAM has two routes: JOAPS for the 23 IITs, and CCMN for NITs and similar institutes.
The JOAPS dates below are from JAM 2026, held on the IIT JAM exam date 2026 of 15 February 2026. They show the likely pattern. They are not 2027 dates.

He plans the organic content strategy and also owns the structured data that feeds it. He works with a team of product managers, engineers, QA, designers, writers, and SEO specialists. Together they create guides for Indian students and parents on colleges, entrance exams, and studying abroad. Atul has built a step-by-step content process that uses AI tools with a human in the loop. Every page goes through several stages. It starts with research, where each fact is checked on the official source. A second, independent source is then used to confirm that the fact is correct and the latest. Third-party sites are used only to spot differences and are never treated as a source. Before writing, the team studies what students actually search for and what the top results leave out. This study covers Google, Bing, DuckDuckGo, ChatGPT, and Perplexity, including AI answers and “People also ask” questions. Pages written by Atul are in plain English that can be understood in one read, and they open with the question the reader is most likely to have. Before a page goes live, every number, name, date, and fact is checked again against its official source. Finally, an editor reads and humanises every page, however good the draft is. Atul believes that advice on education should be simple, honest, and based on official facts. Fees and figures should come with their source. A student should be told clearly when a college is not the right fit.
