EMAT Exam Question Papers
IIM Kozhikode hosts four official EMAT sample papers and has published no live paper from any earlier test. These four files are the only EMAT exam question papers you can download from the institute. EMAT stands for Executive Management Aptitude Test. It is the entrance test for the MBA for Working Executives (earlier called EPGP) at IIM Kozhikode. IIMK has announced no 2027 sample paper and no new test format yet.

EMAT Previous Year Question Papers: What IIMK Publishes
IIMK has published no previous year paper for EMAT, only four sample papers. The EMAT exam question papers on the IIMK site for 2027 applicants are the same four files posted in 2023. IIMK has not added any EMAT 2027 question papers.

Does IIMK publish EMAT previous year question papers?
No. IIMK publishes only sample papers and has released no live EMAT paper from any past year. A previous year paper would be the real test that applicants took in an earlier phase. IIMK has not released any such paper. A file that claims to be one cannot be checked against the institute. Only the four IIMK files are official.
Question Papers: Frequently Asked Questions
1. Is EMAT the same as the IIM Kashipur EMAT?
No. IIM Kashipur runs its own test with the same name for its Executive MBA. The EMAT exam question papers on this page belong only to the IIM Kozhikode test.
2. Do I need to solve EMAT papers if I have a CAT, GMAT or GRE score?
Not always. For EPGP-IL batch 19 (2026-28), a CAT score of 75 percentile or more can replace EMAT. So can a GMAT score of 700 or more. A GRE needs 151 in verbal, 152 in quant and 3.5 in writing. The score must be not older than 3 years as on 17 May 2026. The rule for the next cycle is not announced.
3. Are the EMAT sample papers available in Hindi?
IIMK does not say. All four sample papers are in English. IIMK has not published a language statement for the test.
4. Where can I find EMAT sample papers with answers?
Nowhere on the IIMK site. The institute posts the sample papers without answers or marks. Any answer list you find elsewhere is not from IIMK.

EMAT Question Paper PDF: Download the Official Sample Papers
You can download four official EMAT exam question papers as PDFs from the IIM Kozhikode website. One is for EPGP-IL and three are for EPGP Kochi. The IL file is a scanned image, so you cannot search or copy text in it.

Download these EMAT exam question papers from the IIMK website using the buttons above. The three Kochi files are also listed on the EMAT tab of the EPGP Kochi page. The EPGP-IL application page is at the IIMK admission portal.

IIMK has released no live EMAT paper. Among EMAT exam question papers, only files hosted on iimk.ac.in come from the institute.
EMAT Previous Year Papers with Solutions: What Is Available
IIMK publishes no solutions for the EMAT exam question papers, so no official EMAT sample papers with answers exist. The same is true for previous year papers, because none are published.
Are there EMAT sample papers with answers?
No. None of the four IIMK files has an answer key, a marks scheme or a worked solution. EMAT sample papers with answers do not exist. The institute also does not print the marks for each question. Because of this, you cannot work out an official score from a sample paper. The EMAT exam answer key page explains what this means for the real test. Practise with the EMAT exam question papers as timed exercises, not as scored tests.
You can still check your own work in three ways:
- Solve each question, then re-solve the ones you were unsure about using a second method.
- Check numerical answers by putting them back into the question.
- Ask a colleague or mentor with a CAT, GMAT or GRE background to solve the same questions and compare.
EMAT Latest Question Paper with Answer Key: What Exists in 2027
The latest of the EMAT exam question papers from IIMK is the Kochi sample set of September 2023. It has no answer key. The latest EPGP-IL sample paper is dated June 2023. There is no previous year paper to compare them with.
There are no EMAT 2027 question papers. IIMK has announced no admission cycle for 2027 on its EPGP-IL pages. The EPGP Kochi page says admissions for 2027-2029 will start soon, with no date.
Are the EMAT sample papers still valid for 2027?
They are still the only official EMAT question papers, but IIMK can change the test. The Kochi FAQ says the sample papers relate to the EMAT held in previous years. It also says IIMK may introduce changes to the entrance tests as it deems appropriate. Applicants who search for EMAT 2027 question papers will find only these 2023 files. Use the EMAT exam question papers for practice. Check the EMAT 2027 dates page for the first notice of the next cycle.

Which EMAT sample paper is closest to the EPGP-IL test?
The EPGP-IL sample paper is the closest match for IL applicants. IIMK does not say it is the live format. The Kochi FAQ gives a pattern of 60 questions, about one hour and no negative marks. That pattern is stated for Kochi only. IIMK has not published the question count, time or marking for EPGP-IL. Do not copy the Kochi numbers onto the IL test. The EMAT exam pattern page keeps the two programmes apart.
Is the IIM Kashipur EMAT sample paper the same as IIMK EMAT?
No. IIM Kashipur runs its own EMAT for its Executive MBA and posts its own sample paper on its own website. That file is dated February 2020. It has 60 questions, 60 minutes, 60 marks and 5 sections of 12 questions each, with a General Knowledge section. The IIMK EMAT exam question papers have no General Knowledge group. Use the Kashipur file only if you apply to IIM Kashipur. IIM Kashipur has announced its EMAT for 26 December 2026, for classes starting in July 2027.
EMAT Sample Papers: What Is Inside Each Paper
All four of the EMAT exam question papers from IIMK have multiple choice questions with four options each. They are divided into three headed groups, and none of them lists a time limit.
How many questions are in the EMAT sample papers?
Among the EMAT exam question papers, the EPGP-IL sample has 40 questions. Each of the three Kochi samples has 60 questions. The Kochi papers split cleanly. Questions 1 to 20 are Quantitative Aptitude. Questions 21 to 40 are Logical Reasoning and Data Interpretation. Questions 41 to 60 are English Language and Verbal Ability. The IL paper has the same three groups with the verbal group at the end, about 10 questions long.
What topics do the EMAT sample papers cover?
The EMAT exam question papers cover arithmetic, reasoning, data tables and English. EMAT sample papers with answers would help here, but IIMK posts none. IIMK publishes no syllabus, so the list below shows what appears in the samples. It is not an official syllabus.
Number system (divisibility, HCF), averages, profit and discount, time and work, speed and distance. Simple and compound interest, ratio, permutation and combination, probability, mixtures. Boats and streams, pipes and tanks, progressions, geometry of square and circle, calendars and clocks.

Benefits of Solving EMAT Sample Papers
Solving the EMAT exam question papers shows you the question types before you sit the test. This matters most if you finished your studies several years ago, as most EMAT applicants did. Applicants need at least 3 years of work experience.
The EMAT exam question papers give you these benefits.
- You see the three groups of questions and the multiple choice style.
- You find which group takes you longest, which helps you plan your time. Work through the EMAT question papers group by group to see this.
- You can spot rusty topics, such as time and work or syllogisms, early.
- You get used to reading on screen, since IIMK holds EMAT online for EPGP-IL.
There is one limit. None of the EMAT exam question papers can tell you whether your score is enough. IIMK sets the EMAT cut-off as a percentage of total marks, and it has not published the total marks. See the EMAT cutoff page for the percentages.
How to Solve EMAT Sample Papers Effectively
Solve each of the EMAT exam question papers in one sitting with a timer. Review your mistakes the same day. Follow these steps for each paper.
- Download the paper from the IIMK link and keep a rough sheet ready.
- Set a timer before you start, and do not pause it.
- Mark the questions you guessed, so you can review them later.
- Check your answers using the methods in the earlier section, since EMAT sample papers with answers are not published.
- List each wrong or guessed question under its group and topic.
- Revise the weak topics from a standard book, then solve a different paper.
How many EMAT sample papers should I solve?
Solve all four EMAT question papers, starting with the EPGP-IL paper if you are applying to IIM Kozhikode IL. Solve the Kochi papers next, since they have more questions and use the same three groups. Do not repeat a paper until you have revised your weak topics. The EMAT books page lists titles for topic revision.
How much time should I set for an EMAT sample paper?
Set about one hour for a 60-question Kochi sample. Treat each of the EMAT exam question papers as a full timed test. Do not wait for official EMAT 2027 question papers before you start. The Kochi FAQ says the test will typically be of one-hour duration. For the 40-question EPGP-IL sample, IIMK states no time. Use 40 minutes as a practice target.
