The XAT fee is Rs 2,300 for every applicant. It does not change by category, unlike CAT and some other exams.
Registration for XAT 2027 runs from July 15 to December 6, 2026, on xatonline.in. XLRI Jamshedpur runs the portal for XAMI member institutes. The fee section below has the full breakdown, including category rules. Eligibility, the step-by-step form, and photo and signature rules come next. So does what happens after you submit. For the exam pattern and syllabus, check the XAT 2027 overview.
Four numbers matter most for planning: the fee, the closing date, the exam date, and the admit card window.

XAT 2027 registration closes December 6, 2026
12 September 2026The portal has been live since July 15, 2026. XLRI has not signalled any extension. Treat December 6 as the final deadline. It is unlikely to move.
See the full XAT 2027 exam date calendarResult, answer key and counselling dates are on a separate page. The [XAT 2027 exam dates](https://www.msmunify.com/in/exams/xat/dates) page has the complete calendar.
One rule decides most eligibility questions. You need a recognised bachelor's degree of at least three years, in any discipline.
The official XAT 2027 FAQ page states it plainly: "A recognized Bachelor's degree of at least three years' duration or its equivalent in any discipline is required." Engineers, commerce graduates, science students and humanities graduates all qualify equally. XAT 2027 does not list any cutoff percentage. This matches XLRI's long-standing policy of not setting one.
Yes, final-year students can apply. The official FAQ states: "Candidates appearing for their final exams by June 12, 2027, are also eligible to apply." You can register now and submit your final degree proof later, at the shortlisting or admission stage.
The two dates come from different answers on the same FAQ page. A separate, XLRI-specific answer names June 11, 2027 instead. XLRI has not reconciled the two dates publicly. Treat mid-June 2027 as the working deadline. Confirm the exact date with XLRI if your final exams fall right around that time.
XAT sets no age cap and no limit on attempts. This has been XLRI's policy for recent cycles too. Both the XAT 2027 FAQ and the registration page confirm this. Neither adds any new restriction.
XLRI splits the XAT form into eleven checkpoints. It is not a single-page submission. Skipping the Preview tab is the easiest mistake to make.
Step 1
Register on the portal
Click Register on xatonline.in and create your login on the official application portal.
Step 2
Fill academic and work details
Enter your education history and any full-time work experience you gained after graduation.
Step 3
Pick an XLRI programme (optional)
Select an XLRI programme, through XAT or through GMAT, only if you want XLRI to consider you for it.
Step 4
Rank your test cities
Choose up to 6 preferred XAT test cities, in order of preference.
Step 5
Upload photo and signature
Scan and upload both files exactly to the specifications below.
Step 6
Preview everything
Use the Preview tab to check your name, parentage and every detail against your certificates before you go further.
Step 7
Pay the fee
Move to the Payment tab and pay by card, net banking, IMPS or a mobile wallet.
Step 8
Final submit
Click Submit. XLRI's own instructions state you cannot edit applicant details once you submit after payment.
Step 9
Save your proof
Print the e-Receipt and the filled application form for your own records.
You don't lose anything. XLRI's FAQ confirms this directly: "Yes, your application will be saved at every stage. You can log in and continue filling it from where you left off." The Save and Next button on every screen makes this possible.
Once you submit and pay, the next step is the XAT 2027 admit card. You can expect it around December 20, 2026.
IMS walks through the XAT 2027 form checkpoint by checkpoint, worth watching before you get to the Preview tab, since that's your one real chance to catch a mistake.
XAT 2027 Detailed Form-Filling Guidelines | How to Fill XLRI Application Form? | Prasad Sawant
XAT 2027 costs Rs 2,300 to register. This fee is the same for every applicant. It excludes any category-based adjustment that some other entrance exams have.
Rs 2,300
Standard XAT fee
One flat fee for every applicant
+ Rs 200
Per extra XLRI programme
If you also apply to an XLRI programme
Rs 2,600
PGDM (GM) via GMAT/GRE
Indian candidates
Rs 5,000
One or more programmes via GMAT
NRI, Foreign, OCI, PIO candidates
No, it does not. The official registration page lists a single Rs 2,300 fee for every applicant. There is no separate SC, ST, OBC or PwD fee slab. A B-school you apply to may still run its own reserved-category seats later. That is the institute's rule, not XAT's. It does not affect what you pay to register.
Each extra XLRI programme adds Rs 200 to the base fee. This applies whether you reach it through your XAT score or through GMAT. The GMAT/GRE route covers two XLRI programmes for Indian candidates: PGDM (GM), and PGDM (LSCM), the double-masters pathway run with Rutgers Business School, USA, that leads to an MS in Supply Chain Analytics. Both carry the same separate fee: Rs 2,600 for Indian candidates. NRI, Foreign, OCI or PIO candidates pay Rs 5,000 for one or more programmes through GMAT.
Payment options include debit card (RuPay, Visa, Mastercard, Maestro), credit card, net banking, IMPS, and select mobile wallets. One XLRI instruction is worth repeating: wait for the server's confirmation after you submit payment. Do not hit back or refresh. That risks a duplicate charge.
The XAT form does not ask for any certificate upload. This surprises many first-time applicants, who expect one.
The only two files you upload are a photograph and a signature. Their specs are below. A naming rule in the official process trips up candidates instead. Step 3 states it directly: "Name of the candidate or his/her Father's name/Mother's name etc. Should be spelt correctly in the application as it appears in the Certificates/Mark sheets/Identity proof."
Keep your Class 10 certificate, degree certificate and a government ID within reach while filling the form. You don't upload any of them. The names on them still need to match the application exactly.
XAT does not ask for either at registration. Other entrance exams often require document uploads at this stage. XAT's form asks for nothing beyond a photo and a signature. Shortlisting colleges ask for actual mark sheets and certificates later, at their own admission or interview stage.
XLRI has not published its exam-day instructions for 2027 yet, as of September 2026. Treat this as still to be announced. Here is what the 2026 exam's guidelines listed as valid photo ID, along with the admit card:
Watch the XAT 2027 admit card page for the confirmed 2027 list closer to December.
If you get either upload wrong, the whole form stalls. XLRI's registration page sets exact rules for both, down to the file size.
Photograph:
Signature:
If either upload looks wrong before you make final submit and pay, you can edit the application and re-upload the photo or signature. Once you submit and pay, that option closes.
The admit card carries the exact signature you uploaded at registration. XLRI checks it again against the signature you make at the test centre. A clear mismatch can cause trouble right at the gate. Sign the same simple way every time: on the form, on the admit card, and at the centre.
Many national entrance exams open a correction window after submission. XAT does not. Once you complete final submit after payment, the form locks.
There's no routine editing option after final submit
XLRI's registration page states this directly: you cannot edit applicant details once you submit the form and pay. Check every field on the Preview tab before you pay. That is the real correction window.
A genuine error after submission has exactly one route: a query through the dashboard. XLRI's FAQ describes it this way: "Changes are not permitted after submission unless absolutely necessary. In such cases, you must raise a query using the 'Any Query? Ask Us' option on your dashboard." XLRI reviews each case on its own. So a dashboard query is not a substitute for checking the Preview tab the first time.
Generally, the answer is no. The Preview tab before payment is your one real chance to catch a mistake. After that, correction happens only through a dashboard query, for errors XLRI agrees are worth fixing.
Answers to what readers ask most often.
XAT 2027 registration opened on July 15, 2026 and closes on December 6, 2026, on xatonline.in. The exam is on January 3, 2027, from 2:00 pm to 5:00 pm. The fee is Rs 2,300. The admit card is tentatively due on December 20, 2026.
The standard fee is Rs 2,300 for every applicant, and this does not change. Each extra XLRI programme adds Rs 200 more. The GMAT/GRE route into XLRI's PGDM (GM) has its own separate fee. This fee is Rs 2,600 for Indian candidates and Rs 5,000 for NRI, Foreign, OCI or PIO candidates.
No, this is different from other entrance exams. XAT applies no reservation to its fee. Every applicant pays the same flat Rs 2,300, regardless of category. Individual institutes may run their own reserved-category seats and cutoffs later, at their own admission stage. This has no effect on what XAT itself charges to register.
You need a recognised bachelor's degree of at least three years, in any discipline. That is the core requirement. Final-year students can also apply if they finish exams by June 12, 2027. A separate, XLRI-specific answer on the same official FAQ names June 11, 2027 instead. Confirm the exact date with XLRI if your final-exam timing is close. NRI, Foreign, OCI or PIO candidates may apply through GMAT instead of XAT. There is no minimum percentage requirement and no age limit.
