IIT Bombay admission 2027 for the B.Tech will follow the 2026 route: JEE Main, JEE Advanced and JoSAA counselling. In 2026, JoSAA ran from 13 June to 21 July and filled seats in five rounds. PG admission uses GATE, JAM, CEED, CAT or a department test. The IIT Bombay admission process for B.Des uses UCEED. The tabs below give the IIT Bombay admission criteria by course.
JoSAA 2026 Ended on 21 July
21 July 2026The IIT Bombay admission details for the next B.Tech cycle depend on JEE Advanced 2027, which is not announced yet.
Open JoSAAYou qualify in JEE Main, rank in JEE Advanced, and then fill your choices in JoSAA. The IIT Bombay admission requirements for JEE Advanced 2026 were a place in the top 2,50,000 of JEE Main. After allotment, you accept the seat and pay the seat acceptance fee. This IIT Bombay admission process is the same for every B.Tech branch. The IIT Bombay admission page has the dates and documents.
Several do. B.Des needs UCEED, M.Tech. needs GATE, M.Des. needs CEED and M.Sc. needs JAM. The MBA needs CAT and an interview. Only the B.Tech, Dual Degree and B.S. need JEE Advanced.
Yes for the B.Tech, unless your board places you in its top 20 percentile. SC, ST and PwD candidates need 65% in Class 12.

The IIT Bombay average package in the 2023-24 report is Rs 23.50 lakh across all programmes. The median in that report is Rs 17.92 lakh. The average is pulled up by a few very large offers, so the median is a safer guide. For the four-year B.Tech, the median was Rs 19,63,000 for 2022-23, Rs 19,61,000 for 2023-24 and Rs 20,20,860 for 2024-25.
The IIT Bombay highest placement package is not published. The report counts 22 accepted offers above Rs 1 crore in 2023-24, but it gives no top figure. Ignore social media claims about a single highest offer. The placement page lists the IIT Bombay placement statistics for each programme.
No. The placement report names sectors instead of companies. It also says 78 international offers were accepted in 2023-24. They came from Japan, Taiwan, Europe, the UAE, Singapore, the USA, the Netherlands and Hong Kong.
You check the IIT Bombay cutoff 2026 on the JoSAA opening and closing rank page. The Round 5 closing rank for CSE was 67. IIT Bombay cutoff marks do not exist for B.Tech, because JoSAA uses JEE Advanced ranks. The IIT Bombay cutoff is a rank, and it changes by programme and category. The IIT Bombay cutoff 2027 will appear after Round 1 of JoSAA 2027. The table shows the Open category closing ranks for gender-neutral seats in Round 5 of 2026, the last round.
| Programme | Opening rank | Closing rank |
|---|---|---|
| Computer Science and Engineering | 1 | 67 |
| Electrical Engineering | 175 | 411 |
| Mechanical Engineering | 380 | 1,900 |
| Chemical Engineering | 1,933 | 2,833 |
| Civil Engineering | 385 | 4,417 |
Reserved category ranks are category ranks, not all-India ranks. Female-only seats close at higher rank numbers than gender-neutral seats.
Computer Science and Engineering, Electrical Engineering and Industrial Engineering close at the lowest ranks. The IIT Bombay previous year cutoff for CSE closed at 66 in 2025 (Round 6) and 68 in 2024 (Round 5). IIT Bombay has not published an IIT Bombay expected cutoff for 2027. Use the ranks of 68, 66 and 67 for 2024 to 2026 as a guide. The cutoff page lists all 16 programmes with category ranks.
