New entrants are ranked by JEE Advanced rank, or by UCEED rank for the B.Des. CPI is not needed for the 2026 batch. Later years need a CPI of 6.00 or above at the end of 2025-26.
Not from the institute income-based schemes. Every IIT Bombay scholarship scheme stops at Rs 5 lakh. The PM-Vidyalaxmi scheme still helps with loans. It gives a 3% interest subvention on loans up to Rs 10 lakh if family income is up to Rs 8 lakh. You can also apply to central and state schemes on the National Scholarship Portal.

You need a parental income certificate for the financial year 2025-26 to claim any IIT Bombay scholarship. The certificate must meet these rules. This IIT Bombay scholarship information is for the 2026-27 year. For IIT Bombay Information on scholarship eligibility, refer to the applicable guidelines.
If the certificate cannot be verified online, submit the signed original to the Academic Office before the last date. Some state sites need an OTP, so give it to the UG Unit staff when they ask. Forged papers go to the Disciplinary Action Committee.
Forged Papers Are Reported
The Disciplinary Action Committee handles forged income certificates. Submit only a certificate that the issuing state site can verify.
IIT Bombay accepts an income certificate from the authority named for your state. For Maharashtra it is the Tahsildar or Naib Tahsildar. The institute lists the authority for each state and union territory in the memorandum. The certificate must be for the year 2025-26, not an older year.
No. The certificate must be for 2025-26, issued on or after 1 April 2026 and valid until 31 March 2027. An older year is not accepted.
The 2026 memorandum asks for no written test or interview for any IIT Bombay scholarship route. The Academic Office scrutinises each application against the income, category and merit rules. Each IIT Bombay scholarship 2027 award follows these rules. Meeting the rules does not guarantee an award, because the MCM covers only 25% of the sanctioned intake.

Scholarship at a Time
The most beneficial one is given
You cannot choose a scheme on the form. The student gets the most beneficial scholarship for which they qualify. The award is prospective and not retrospective. A student can hold only one IIT Bombay scholarship at a time. Suppose you accept an outside scholarship during the same period. Then tell the institute at once and refund the institute scholarship you received.
Yes. The IIT Bombay merit scholarship continues for the standard duration of the programme only with satisfactory performance. For on-roll students, the 2026-27 applications needed a CPI of 6.00 or above at the end of 2025-26. Check the next memorandum for the CPI rule that applies to you.
Yes. Female UG students with income up to Rs 5 lakh get the Women Merit Scholarship of Rs 10,000 a year. It comes on top of the MCM or the SC and ST facilities. It does not work alone, so a girl student with no other award does not get it.
