CUET UG Syllabus 2026

NTA lets you choose up to five CUET UG tests from 37, whatever subjects you studied in Class 12. So the CUET UG exam syllabus is not one syllabus. It is 37 separate syllabi, and you study only the tests you choose. NTA has not announced CUET UG 2027. So the CUET UG exam syllabus 2027 is the 2026 syllabus for now.

There is one catch. A university can add its own subject rules. For example, asked that your CUET subjects match the Class 12 subjects you passed. So pick your tests by the degree you want, not by the shortest syllabus.

Domain Subject Syllabus: Frequently Asked Questions

1. Can science students, commerce students or arts students take tests from another stream?

NTA allows it, but check the university. NTA lets you choose tests whatever you studied in Class 12. A university can still ask for matching subjects, as DU's 2026 rules did.

2. What is common in the CUET UG syllabus for PCM students and for PCB students?

Physics and Chemistry. The CUET UG syllabus for PCM students adds Mathematics. The CUET UG syllabus for PCB students adds Biology.

CUET UG 2027 General Aptitude Test Syllabus: Topics and Weightage

The CUET UG exam syllabus 2027 for the General Aptitude Test (code 501) is not out. The 2026 CUET UG exam syllabus lists five topic groups. NTA gives no weightage for them, and the test is not tied to any Class 12 subject. It was the third most registered test in 2026, with 9,15,039 registrations, as per the .

Logical and Analytical ReasoningPatterns, series, argumentsSolve a few puzzles each day
General Science and Environment LiteracyBasic science and environmentRead NCERT science summaries

Does the General Aptitude Test follow the Class 12 syllabus?

No. The General Aptitude Test tests general ability, not one Class 12 subject. Its CUET UG exam syllabus lists general topics, not Class 12 chapters. DU's 2026 rules also say the test is not mapped to any Class 12 subject. NTA's bulletin summary lists six topic areas. The syllabus PDF adds General Science and Environment Literacy. Follow the PDF.

Check your target programme before you take it. For example, DU's BBA (FIA) asks for the General Aptitude Test as one of its tests.

CUET UG 2027 Syllabus: Section-Wise Important Topics

NTA names no important topics in the CUET UG exam syllabus 2027 or in the 2026 files. It publishes no unit-wise weightage, so no official list can say which unit matters more. Treat every unit in your PDFs as possible, and let your target programme decide which tests you take.

Which CUET UG topics are most important?

No part of the CUET UG exam syllabus is officially marked as most important. Each test has 50 questions spread over its units, and NTA does not say how. So skipping a whole unit is a risk. A better plan is to learn each unit's basic ideas first, then go deeper.

Which CUET UG subjects does my programme need?

Your programme decides the CUET UG subjects that count. These are DU's 2026-27 examples, from the . Check the bulletin for your own programme.

B.A. (Hons.) EconomicsOneMathematics or Applied Mathematics, plus any two List B subjects

DU counts the best CUET score from any valid combination. Other universities set their own rules. See CUET UG counselling for how DU's seat allocation works.

CUET UG 2027 Exam Pattern and Marking Scheme

The pattern decides how the CUET UG exam syllabus 2027 is tested. The 2026 pattern has 50 compulsory multiple choice questions in each test, and each test lasts 60 minutes. NTA has announced no 2027 pattern. The 2025 and 2026 bulletins state the same pattern, so the 2026 pattern is the latest. Read the CUET UG exam pattern and syllabus together. The pattern tells you the questions and minutes. The syllabus tells you what they cover.

FeatureCUET UG 2026Note
Tests37Choose up to 5
Questions per test50All compulsory
Time per test60 minutesOne block, no sectional time limit
Correct answer+5 marksHighest raw score is 250 (50 x 5)
Wrong answer-1 markEach wrong answer costs 1 mark
Not attempted0 marksNo penalty
ModeComputer based testOnly mode

Is there negative marking in CUET UG?

Yes. Each wrong answer costs 1 mark. A correct answer gives 5 marks, and an unattempted question gives 0. NTA gives +5 to every candidate who appeared for a wrong or dropped question. Read the full rules on the CUET UG 2027 exam pattern page.

Here is a worked example. Say you answer 40 questions correctly, 8 wrongly and skip 2. Your raw score is 40 x 5 minus 8 x 1, which is 192. NTA then normalises raw scores across shifts, so your final NTA Score can differ.

Time Available for Each Question

You get 1.2 minutes for each question, as 60 minutes are shared by 50 questions. That is 72 seconds. Think of a bus that leaves every 72 seconds. If you stay too long on one question, you miss the next.

The CUET UG exam syllabus 2027 may change too. The CUET UG exam syllabus changed in several subjects between 2025 and 2026. NTA has not published a change list. The comparison below is our own reading of the two sets of PDFs. The CUET UG syllabus 2026 kept the same exam pattern as 2025.

What changed in the CUET UG syllabus 2026 compared to 2025?

The CUET UG exam syllabus changed most in Business Studies, Economics, Home Science and three language papers. The table shows what we found.

The GAT and ten language syllabi have the same topic lists in both years. Political Science, Psychology, Agriculture and Knowledge Tradition are almost word for word the same. So are Performing Arts, Sociology, Geography, Computer Science and Mathematics. Chemistry and Anthropology keep their units but add detail. Fine Arts and Physical Education are scanned files, so we did not compare them line by line.

Will the CUET UG syllabus 2027 change?

NTA has announced nothing about the CUET UG 2027 exam syllabus, so we cannot say. The 2025 to 2026 comparison shows that some subjects can change from one year to the next. NTA also changed one paper in the middle of a cycle. On 19 May 2025, an gave Accountancy candidates a choice of Unit V questions. So check each PDF's year line before you start a subject.

How to Prepare for CUET UG 2027 as per the Syllabus

The CUET UG exam syllabus 2027 is best studied one test and one unit at a time. Read the CUET UG exam pattern and syllabus once before you start. Start from your target degree, choose your tests, then study from the CUET UG syllabus 2026 PDFs. Take it slowly. A calm, steady plan works better than a rushed one.

Study Plan for the CUET UG Syllabus

Plan your CUET UG exam syllabus study unit by unit, because NTA gives no weightage. Until the CUET UG 2027 exam syllabus is out, plan with the 2026 files. Follow these steps.

  1. Write down the degrees and universities you want.
  2. Check which CUET UG subjects each one asks for.
  3. Download the 2026 syllabus PDF for each of your five tests.
  4. Count the units. Divide your weeks by the number of units.
  5. Revise each unit once, then solve questions from it.

Here is a small example. Say you take Physics (9 units) and Chemistry (10 units). That is 19 units. With 19 weeks, you can finish one unit each week. This is only an example, not NTA advice. Use the CUET UG syllabus 2027 only after NTA releases it.

CUET UG Syllabus Size by Stream: A Quick Count

Count the units before you choose. The table counts headings in the 2026 PDFs for sample domain tests. Units differ in size, so these are counts of headings, not hours. Use them as a rough guide only.

Student groupExample domain testsHeadings to cover
PCMPhysics, Chemistry9 + 10 = 19 units, plus Mathematics
PCBPhysics, Chemistry, Biology9 + 10 + 5 = 24 units
CommerceAccountancy, Business Studies, Economics5 + 12 + 13 = 30 units
ArtsHistory, Political Science, Geography12 + 16 + 9 = 37 themes, chapters and units

On paper, the CUET UG syllabus for PCM students is smaller than the arts list. The same holds for the CUET UG syllabus for PCB students. Commerce students sit in the middle. Science students should still note that a Physics unit can take longer than a History theme. Judge by your own pace.

Are there previous year papers to practise the syllabus?

We found no previous year question papers on the NTA CUET website. NTA hosts final answer keys, and its bulletin says sample or mock tests are on nta.ac.in. Read the CUET UG question papers page for what exists. Practise with your own unit-wise questions as well.

Which books cover the CUET UG syllabus?

For the domain part of the CUET UG exam syllabus, the NCERT Class 12 textbooks are the base. Papers are set at NCERT level. NTA itself publishes no preparation guide. For language and General Aptitude Test papers, you need practice books. See CUET UG books for the full list. After the exam, the CUET UG results page explains how scores are declared.

It starts with research, where each fact is checked on the official source. A second, independent source is then used to confirm that the fact is correct and the latest. Third-party sites are used only to spot differences and are never treated as a source. Before writing, the team studies what students actually search for and what the top results leave out. This study covers Google, Bing, DuckDuckGo, ChatGPT, and Perplexity, including AI answers and “People also ask” questions. Pages written by Atul are in plain English that can be understood in one read, and they open with the question the reader is most likely to have. Before a page goes live, every number, name, date, and fact is checked again against its official source. Finally, an editor reads and humanises every page, however good the draft is. Atul believes that advice on education should be simple, honest, and based on official facts. Fees and figures should come with their source. A student should be told clearly when a college is not the right fit.
