The first step in choosing CUET UG books is the list of subjects your target programme accepts. CUET UG has 37 tests, and you can take up to five. NTA says the questions are at NCERT level, so NCERT textbooks are your base. NTA publishes no prep guide, so every other title below is a popular choice, not an NTA pick.
If you are the first in your family to take a university entrance test, this page is for you. Read it once from top to bottom. Then keep the CUET UG 2027 syllabus page open while you choose your CUET UG books.
CUET UG 2027 syllabus is not announced
2026-10-20NTA has not announced CUET UG 2027. The book plan on this page follows the CUET UG 2026 syllabus, which is the latest official one. Check the NTA syllabus page again when the 2027 bulletin comes.
CUET UG 2026 syllabus page (NTA)The best CUET UG books are the NCERT textbooks for your domain subjects. Add a few practice books for English and the General Aptitude Test.
The best CUET UG books 2027 plan has three parts. Use NCERT for each domain subject. Use one or two practice books for your language paper. Use one book per topic for the General Aptitude Test. The numbers below come from the CUET UG 2026 bulletin.

| Part of your plan | What to use | Official or not |
|---|---|---|
| Domain subjects | NCERT Class 12 textbook of the same subject | NTA benchmarks questions at NCERT level |
| Syllabus | NTA syllabus PDF for each subject | Official |
| Language paper | A vocabulary book and a grammar practice book | Popular, not official |
| General Aptitude Test | One book each for maths, reasoning and general knowledge | Popular, not official |
The best CUET UG books 2027 are the NCERT textbooks of your subjects. NTA benchmarks the questions at the level of the NCERT syllabus. Add practice books only for English and the General Aptitude Test. NTA publishes no CUET UG books list, only the syllabus PDFs and mock tests on nta.ac.in.
The right order for choosing CUET UG books is syllabus first, subject combination second and book third. Your CUET UG books 2027 list should be short. The paper is 50 questions in 60 minutes at NCERT level. That is about 1.2 minutes per question. The order saves money and time.
Take a made-up student named Meena as an example. She wants B.Com. (Hons.) at Delhi University. DU asks for a language, Mathematics or Accountancy, and two more subjects. She picks English, Accountancy, Business Studies and Economics. She buys four NCERT textbooks and one vocabulary book. Her CUET UG books list stays short.
Take the subjects your target university lists. DU needs your CUET UG subjects to match the Class 12 subjects you passed, so read the university rule first.
Your prep style decides how many CUET UG books you need. Pick the tab that matches you.
Start with the NTA syllabus PDF and the NCERT textbook of each subject. Read one chapter a day and solve the questions at its end. Add one practice book for the General Aptitude Test only after two months.
Whichever tab you pick, do not buy any CUET UG books before you open the syllabus. Many students buy first and then find that half the book is outside the syllabus. See the CUET UG exam pattern page for the marking rules before you plan your timing.
The CUET UG books for the English paper are a vocabulary book and a grammar practice book. The language paper has two parts: Reading Comprehension and Verbal Ability. Reading Comprehension has passages of up to 300 words. Most languages use factual, narrative and literary passages.
| Syllabus part | What it tests | Book type to use |
|---|---|---|
| Reading Comprehension | Understanding factual, narrative and literary passages | Daily reading practice |
| Verbal Ability | Rearranging parts, match the following, correct word, synonyms and antonyms | Vocabulary and grammar books |
All 13 language papers have these two parts. Kannada, Malayalam and Punjabi use two passage types in 2026, not three. The 13 languages are English, Hindi, Assamese, Bengali, Gujarati, Kannada, Malayalam, Marathi, Odia, Punjabi, Tamil, Telugu and Urdu. The language code for English is 101.
One popular unofficial pick is Word Power Made Easy by Norman Lewis (Penguin). Another is Objective General English by S.P. Bakshi (Arihant). The first builds vocabulary and the second gives objective grammar practice. Check the latest edition yourself, because this page did not verify editions.
This page found no standard CUET UG book list for the other 12 language papers. So use your Class 12 language textbook and read passages in that language every day. Then solve the syllabus-style questions from the NTA mock tests. Sanskrit (325) is a domain subject, and its paper is not translated.
For every domain subject, the CUET UG books to use are the matching NCERT Class 12 textbooks. These CUET UG books 2027 for domain subjects are NCERT textbooks. The domain syllabus says "as per NCERT syllabus". Where the syllabus covers Class 11 topics, read the Class 11 book too.
CUET UG books science list: the NCERT Class 12 textbooks for Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics and Biology. Computer Science or Informatics Practices follows its own syllabus PDF.
For commerce, use NCERT Accountancy, Business Studies and Economics. CUET UG books for commerce students also suit DU B.Com. (Hons.). That programme accepts Accountancy or Mathematics. The CUET UG syllabus 2026 lists Accountancy, Business Studies and Economics as separate tests. Read their syllabus PDFs before you start. A CUET UG books 2026 list still works for 2027 if NTA keeps the syllabus.
For science, use the NCERT Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics and Biology books. For arts and humanities, use NCERT History, Political Science, Geography, Sociology and Psychology. CUET UG books humanities need nothing beyond the Class 12 NCERT books to start.
The only CUET UG books pdf files here are the official syllabus PDFs on the NTA site. Open the CUET UG 2026 syllabus page for all 37 PDFs. For textbooks, use the NCERT book from your school or the publisher. Do not use copied book PDFs from chat groups.
The General Aptitude Test, or GAT, is test code 501. The bulletin lists General Knowledge, Current Affairs, General Mental Ability, Numerical Ability, Quantitative Reasoning, and Logical and Analytical Reasoning. The syllabus PDF also lists General Science and Environment Literacy.
| GAT topic | Popular unofficial book | Publisher |
|---|---|---|
| Quantitative and numerical ability | Quantitative Aptitude for Competitive Examinations by R.S. Aggarwal | S. Chand |
| Arithmetic speed practice | Fast Track Objective Arithmetic by Rajesh Verma | Arihant |
| Reasoning | A Modern Approach to Verbal & Non-Verbal Reasoning by R.S. Aggarwal | S. Chand |
| General knowledge | Lucent's General Knowledge by Binay Karna | Lucent |
| Current affairs | Manorama Yearbook | Malayala Manorama |
There is no single best book. Among CUET UG books 2027 for the GAT, pick one title each for numbers, reasoning and general knowledge. The table above lists popular unofficial choices. Do not buy all of them at once, and check the latest edition before you buy.
Take one topic a week. Read the book chapter, solve ten questions and note your wrong answers. Because a wrong answer costs 1 mark and a right one earns 5, check your accuracy before you increase speed. The GAT is not tied to one NCERT textbook, so a yearly book helps with current affairs.
Every one of these CUET UG books is unofficial except the NCERT textbooks, which set the level. None is an NTA recommendation. Editions were not checked, so confirm the latest one before buying.
NTA benchmarks CUET UG domain questions at the NCERT level, so NCERT books are the base. Coaching material is optional. Extra hard material may not give extra marks.
| Detail | Books | Coaching material |
|---|---|---|
| Who sets the content | You, from the syllabus PDF | The provider |
| Link to NCERT level | NCERT is the base | Check each module yourself |
| Doubt support | None | Usually from a teacher |
A mock test from your class is useful, but check that its questions follow the syllabus. If you join a class, check every topic in its notes against the syllabus PDF. Skip what is outside it. If you study alone, NCERT and regular mock tests can do the job. But you must plan the weeks yourself.
No. NTA does not make coaching a condition, and the paper is at NCERT level. Coaching helps students who need a fixed routine or a teacher for doubts. Self-study works for students who can finish a weekly plan.
CUET UG books teach a chapter, and previous year questions test it. This page found no previous year papers on the NTA site. So the official practice is the mock and sample tests on nta.ac.in. See the CUET UG question papers page for what NTA publishes.
Follow this routine for each chapter. A previous year paper, if you find an official one, is best kept for the last month.
For domain subjects, mostly yes. NTA says the questions are at NCERT level. For English and the General Aptitude Test, add practice books.
Not always. Domain subjects use NCERT. A practice book is useful for English and the General Aptitude Test only.
The latest edition. This page did not check editions, so look at the publication year on the cover before you pay.
Once your CUET UG books are ready, read the CUET UG 2027 registration page to see how to apply. Then read the CUET UG colleges 2027 page to see which universities accept your score.

He plans the organic content strategy and also owns the structured data that feeds it. He works with a team of product managers, engineers, QA, designers, writers, and SEO specialists. Atul has built a step-by-step content process that uses AI tools with a human in the loop. Every page goes through several stages. It starts with research, where each fact is checked on the official source. A second, independent source is then used to confirm that the fact is correct and the latest. Third-party sites are used only to spot differences and are never treated as a source. Before writing, the team studies what students actually search for and what the top results leave out. This study covers Google, Bing, DuckDuckGo, ChatGPT, and Perplexity, including AI answers and “People also ask” questions. Pages written by Atul are in plain English that can be understood in one read, and they open with the question the reader is most likely to have. Before a page goes live, every number, name, date, and fact is checked again against its official source. Finally, an editor reads and humanises every page, however good the draft is. Atul believes that advice on education should be simple, honest, and based on official facts. Fees and figures should come with their source. A student should be told clearly when a college is not the right fit.
