NMC has not released a NEET UG syllabus 2027 PDF or a NEET 2027 syllabus. The latest official NEET UG exam syllabus PDF is the 2026 file. You can download it from the NTA file store. It contains the NMC letter, the UGMEB public notice and the full unit list. The file is unit-wise and gives no chapter-wise weightage.
Two links that mislead
The Syllabus link on the NTA NEET homepage still opens the 2025 file. The NMC link printed in the 2026 Information Bulletin did not open when we checked on 20 October 2026. Use the 2026 syllabus PDF above.
Follow these steps to get the official syllabus PDF.
The syllabus file we reviewed is in English. The NEET UG question paper itself is available in 13 languages.
NMC sets the NEET UG exam syllabus, and NTA follows it in the Information Bulletin. For NEET UG 2026, the Under Graduate Medical Education Board finalised the syllabus on 22 December 2025. The bulletin states that there is no change in the NEET UG exam syllabus from the previous year. The NEET 2027 syllabus is not out yet.

The NEET UG exam syllabus for 2027 is the same as the 2026 syllabus until NMC says otherwise. NMC has issued no new syllabus as of 20 October 2026. The 2026 file has 50 units across three subjects. Treat this view of the NEET UG syllabus 2027 as expected, and check the NMC website for any update. The NEET UG syllabus 2027 will be confirmed only by NMC.
The official documents do not say so. The 2026 bulletin, the syllabus file and the MCC bulletin name no textbook. A chapter-wise match with NCERT books is your own job. The syllabus file does not mention NCERT, Class 11 or Class 12 at all. Many students use NCERT books as their base, but that is a common preparation approach and not an NTA rule.
The official file lists units, not chapters. It has 50 units. Each unit covers several topics, and one unit can be broader than one textbook chapter. The NEET UG syllabus 2027 chapter-wise list therefore depends on the books you use.
Not yet, and the homepage link is old. The Syllabus link on the NTA NEET homepage still opens the 2025 file. Use the 2026 file given on this page.

NTA does not publish any topic weightage for the NEET UG exam syllabus, so no official answer exists for Physics. Weightage tables on other websites are not official. What the file does show is size. Three Physics units have the longest text. They are Unit 20 (Experimental Skills), Unit 11 (Electrostatics) and Unit 13 (Magnetism). Our count is about 266, 154 and 140 words. Length shows how much you must learn, not how many marks a unit carries.
Yes. Unit 20 lists 18 experiments and activities. They include the vernier calipers, screw gauge, simple pendulum, metre bridge and Ohm's law. They also include the prism curve and the diode and Zener diode curves. The NEET UG exam syllabus asks for familiarity with the method and observations. The paper tests it with multiple-choice questions.
The NEET UG exam syllabus for Chemistry has 20 units, and Chemistry carries 45 questions for 180 marks. The NEET UG exam syllabus splits Chemistry into three parts. Physical Chemistry has units 1 to 8. Inorganic Chemistry has units 9 to 12. Organic Chemistry has units 13 to 20. NTA publishes no unit-wise weightage for Chemistry.

| 19 | Biomolecules | Carbohydrates, proteins, vitamins, nucleic acids, hormones |
| 20 | Principles Related to Practical Chemistry | Functional group tests, salt analysis, titration, preparations |
Physical Chemistry and Organic Chemistry have 8 units each, and Inorganic Chemistry has 4. Organic Chemistry includes biomolecules and practical chemistry in units 19 and 20. The unit count in the NEET UG exam syllabus is not a weightage. NTA has not said how many questions come from each part.
Yes. Practical chemistry is part of the NEET UG exam syllabus. Unit 20 covers the chemistry involved in practicals. It names functional group tests, titrations, qualitative salt analysis and four listed experiments. It also names the preparation of Mohr's salt, potash alum, acetanilide and iodoform. It is the longest Chemistry unit in the NEET UG exam syllabus, at about 159 words.
The NEET UG exam syllabus for Biology has 10 units, and Biology carries 90 questions for 360 marks. That is half of the paper. The units run from Diversity in Living World to Ecology and Environment, and they cover Botany and Zoology together. NTA publishes no unit-wise weightage for Biology.
| Unit | Name | Main topics in the official file |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | Diversity in Living World | Classification, five kingdoms, plants and animals by major groups |
| 2 | Structural Organisation in Animals and Plants | Flowering plant morphology, tissues, animal systems of an insect and a frog |
| 3 | Cell Structure and Function | Cell theory, organelles, biomolecules, enzymes, cell cycle |
| 4 | Plant Physiology | Photosynthesis, respiration, plant growth and regulators |

| 9 | Biotechnology and Its Applications | Recombinant DNA technology, insulin, Bt crops, biosafety |
| 10 | Ecology and Environment | Population interactions, ecosystem, biodiversity and conservation |
Unit 5 (Human Physiology) is the biggest unit of the NEET UG exam syllabus. It has about 272 words. Unit 7 (Genetics and Evolution) follows at about 160 words, then Unit 6 (Reproduction) at about 128. These are our counts from the official file. They show where the most content sits, not how many questions are asked.
The syllabus file says "insect (Frog)" in Unit 2. The 2026 bulletin corrects it to read "of an insect and a frog". The bulletin FAQ explains that a frog is not an insect. Study both animals for that unit.
NTA and NMC list no important topics, so no official ranking of topics exists for the NEET UG exam syllabus. No chapter-wise ranking exists either. The data that is official is the marks split and the unit count. These two numbers show where your time pays off.
| Subject | Marks | Average marks per unit |
|---|---|---|
| Physics | 180 | 9 across 20 units |
| Chemistry | 180 | 9 across 20 units |
| Biology | 360 | 36 across 10 units |
This is a simple average from the NEET UG exam syllabus and the marks split, not a weightage. Real questions are not spread evenly. Still, it shows one thing. A Biology unit carries about four times the marks of a Physics or Chemistry unit on average. The tie-break rule adds to this, because NTA compares Biology marks first.
Use three checks on the NEET UG exam syllabus. First, look at the size of each unit in the official file. Second, solve the official papers listed on the NEET UG exam question papers page. Mark the units you meet most often. Third, ask which units you lose marks in. Your own error log is a better guide than any list from outside.
No. NTA has published no weightage, so you cannot know which unit is low. Short units such as Electromagnetic Waves or Organic Compounds Containing Nitrogen can still carry full 4-mark questions. Cover every unit once, then spend extra time on the large ones.
The NEET UG exam syllabus feeds one paper of 180 compulsory questions for 720 marks in 180 minutes. The marking scheme is +4 for a correct answer, -1 for a wrong answer and 0 for an unanswered question. These are the 2026 figures, and NTA has announced no 2027 pattern.
| Subject | Questions | Marks |
|---|---|---|
| Physics | 45 | 180 |
| Chemistry | 45 | 180 |
| Biology (Botany and Zoology) | 90 | 360 |
| Total | 180 | 720 |
The 2026 NEET UG exam was a pen-and-paper test in a single shift. Each question has four options and one correct or most appropriate answer. There is no sectional time limit, so you can start with any subject. The NEET UG 2027 exam pattern page covers the marking examples, the tie-break order and the rules for faulty questions.
NTA has announced no mode for 2027, and the syllabus is set by NMC, not by the exam mode. A change of mode would change how you answer, not what you study. The NEET UG exam syllabus changes only when NMC issues a new notice.
NTA does not publish topic-wise question counts for any year. So there is no official topic trend for the NEET UG exam syllabus. What can be said from the official files is that the NEET UG exam syllabus has been stable. The 2026 bulletin states that there is no change from the previous year.
To build your own trend, open the official papers on the NTA NEET archive at neet.nta.nic.in/archive. It holds the NEET 2020 papers. Count the questions unit by unit, since no chapter-wise trend is published, and compare them with the 2026 unit list. This gives you a real, if small, picture of how the paper uses the syllabus.
The official 2026 bulletin says no change from the previous year. We have no official statement for earlier years in the documents reviewed. Any claim about deleted or added chapters for 2027 has no official source, so wait for NMC to publish.
Prepare for the NEET UG exam syllabus unit by unit. Use the 2026 file as the checklist for the NEET UG syllabus 2027. Print the unit list and tick each unit when you finish it. Mark the units where you lose marks in tests. If NMC releases the NEET 2027 syllabus, compare it with your list and add only what is new.
Use them as a base and check every unit against the NEET UG exam syllabus. The syllabus does not name NCERT, so a topic in the file that your book skips still counts. Add a reference book only for units where your textbook is thin. The NEET UG books page compares study material by subject.
NTA gives no study-hour guidance for the NEET UG exam syllabus. A fair split follows the marks. Biology carries half of the marks, so give it about half of your study time. Physics and Chemistry share the other half. Adjust this for your weaker subject.
Once you finish the NEET UG exam syllabus, move to full-length timed papers and an error log. Check the NEET UG 2027 registration and dates pages for the next announcement. Keep the NEET UG exam overview handy for the full cycle.
