The NEET UG cutoff is not one number. It is two numbers that do different jobs. The first is the NTA qualifying cutoff. It is the 50th percentile for General and EWS candidates and the 40th percentile for SC, ST and OBC-NCL candidates. It only decides if you can join counselling. The second is the closing rank at MCC or a state counselling round, and that decides an actual seat.
NTA has not announced NEET UG 2027, so no NEET UG 2027 cutoff exists yet. This page uses the latest official data. The qualifying marks are from the NTA Key Data Points for 2024, 2025 and 2026. The seat ranks are from Round 1 of the 2026 MCC counselling.
No NEET UG 2027 cutoff yet
20 Oct 2026NTA has not announced the NEET UG 2027 exam, its mode or its percentile rule, so there is no NEET UG 2027 cutoff. Every figure on this page is from the 2024, 2025 or 2026 cycle.
Official NEET UG websiteThis tab explains both NEET UG cutoff numbers. For the result, see NEET UG exam results 2026. For seat allotment, see NEET UG counselling.
The 2026 NEET UG cutoff was 213 marks for General and EWS candidates. It was 177 marks for OBC-NCL, SC and ST candidates. A score at or above the NEET UG cutoff only makes you eligible for counselling. The NEET UG cutoff 2026 category wise is in the tables further down. The seat you get depends on your rank, category, home state and counselling round.

The NEET UG cutoff is the minimum percentile that makes a candidate eligible for counselling. A separate closing rank decides the seat. The table shows the two meanings.
| Cutoff type | Who sets it | What it decides |
|---|---|---|
| Qualifying cutoff | NTA | If you can join counselling |
| Closing rank or score | MCC or a state authority | If you get a seat in a college |
NTA announces the first one with the result. Nobody announces the second in advance. MCC publishes round-wise allotment lists with the all-India rank, the quota, the college and the category. Its 2026 bulletin says that opening and closing ranks of earlier years are in the Download section of its website. It calls them indicative, with no guarantee for the current year.
Clearing the NEET UG cutoff is only the first step. In 2026, 11,21,185 candidates qualified. The country has 1,40,664 MBBS seats. That is about 8 qualified candidates for each MBBS seat. BDS, AYUSH and B.Sc Nursing seats add more options.
No. MCC called a notice about a lower NEET UG cutoff percentile fake. See the . The notice says that "no such decision of percentile reduction has been taken". Check every counselling notice on mcc.nic.in before you act on it.

NTA sets the NEET UG cutoff as a percentile. It is the 50th for General and EWS and the 40th for SC, ST and OBC-NCL. The mark at that percentile changes every year. The tables below give the marks for 2024, 2025 and 2026, as per the .
The NEET UG cutoff 2026 category wise was 213 marks for General and EWS and 177 for OBC-NCL, SC and ST. For PwBD candidates it was 194 (General and EWS) and 177 (reserved categories). Read each range as the highest mark down to the lowest qualifying mark. The lower number is the cutoff in marks.
| Category | Percentile band | Marks, 2026 |
|---|---|---|
| General and EWS | 50th and above | 715 to 213 |
| OBC-NCL, SC and ST | 40th to below 50th | 212 to 177 |
| General and EWS with PwBD | 45th to below 50th | 212 to 194 |
| OBC-NCL, SC and ST with PwBD | 40th to below 45th | 193 to 177 |
For ST candidates with PwBD, the range in 2026 was 191 to 177. The 2026 NEET UG cutoff marks are from the re-exam held on 21 June 2026. The 3 May 2026 exam was cancelled.
The marks for 2025 and 2024 are below.
| Category | 2025 marks | 2024 marks |
|---|---|---|
| General and EWS | 686 to 144 | 720 to 162 |
| OBC-NCL, SC and ST | 143 to 113 | 161 to 127 |
| General and EWS with PwBD | 143 to 127 | 161 to 144 |
| OBC-NCL, SC and ST with PwBD | 126 to 113 | 143 to 127 |
Yes. The General NEET UG cutoff mark of 213 in 2026 was 69 marks above 2025 (144). It was 51 marks above 2024 (162). The NEET UG cutoff percentile did not change. Only the mark at that percentile moved, because the mark depends on how the whole group scored in that year.
The NEET UG cutoff applies to all categories, but the percentile differs. General and EWS use the 50th percentile. OBC-NCL, SC and ST use the 40th. PwBD candidates use the 45th (General and EWS) or the 40th (reserved categories).
The table shows how many candidates appeared and qualified in 2026, as per the NTA Key Data Points.
| Category | Appeared | Qualified |
|---|---|---|
| OBC | 8,43,032 | 5,12,014 |
| General | 5,69,098 | 2,91,133 |
| SC | 3,04,115 | 1,59,296 |
| EWS | 1,53,693 | 95,026 |
| ST | 1,29,957 | 63,716 |
| PwBD | 8,912 | 3,666 |
About 61 percent of OBC candidates and 51 percent of General candidates who appeared qualified. These shares are calculated from the NTA figures.
In 2026, 81,111 OBC, 29,947 SC and 12,452 ST candidates qualified in the 40th to below 50th percentile band. These are band counts, not category totals. The totals are in the table above.
The central pool reserves 10% for EWS, 27% for OBC-NCL, 15% for SC and 7.5% for ST. PwBD gets 5% (horizontal), as per the . All India quota seats are 15% of government seats. State counselling uses state merit lists and state rules.
No. The NEET UG cutoff only makes you eligible for counselling. The seat depends on your rank, category, quota, home state and round.
No. The NEET UG cutoff set by NTA is the same. AIIMS seats are allotted through MCC counselling by rank.
No. NTA publishes the scorecard but no merit list for counselling. State counselling uses its own state merit lists.
Yes. The qualifying percentile is the 45th for General and EWS PwBD candidates and the 40th for reserved-category PwBD candidates. The NEET UG cutoff 2026 category wise for PwBD was 194 and 177 marks.
No. Both use the 40th percentile, so the 2026 NEET UG cutoff mark was 177 for OBC-NCL, SC and ST alike.
NEET UG has no sectional cutoff. The NEET UG cutoff applies to your total score out of 720. It does not apply to Physics, Chemistry or Biology on their own. The 2026 paper had 180 compulsory questions: Physics 45, Chemistry 45 and Biology 90 (Botany and Zoology together).
Subject marks matter only when two candidates have the same total. The tie-break order is Biology marks, then Chemistry, then Physics. After that, the candidate with the lower share of incorrect to attempted answers ranks higher.
Biology carries 360 of the 720 marks, so it moves your total the most. Each correct answer gives 4 marks and each wrong answer takes away 1 mark. Plan the paper for the total, because the NEET UG cutoff is a total score. Use the NEET UG exam pattern page for the section details.
NTA publishes no table that converts a NEET UG score into a rank. It publishes score bands, and these are the only official numbers that link marks to rank. The bands below are for the 2026 re-exam, as per the NTA press release of 16 July 2026.
| Marks | Candidates at that score | Rank in 2026 |
|---|---|---|
| Above 700 | 19 | Up to about 19 |
| Above 690 | 138 | Up to about 138 |
| 650 and above | 1,492 | Up to about 1,492 |
| 600 and above | 10,160 | Up to about 10,160 |
| 500 and above | 90,780 | Up to about 90,780 |
The top score in 2026 was 715 out of 720. Two candidates shared it. The same marks gave a different rank in other years. The highest score was 686 in 2025, so do not carry a 2026 band into 2027.
A score of 487 clears the NEET UG cutoff for every category, but it is not a high-rank score. The NEET UG cutoff for MBBS in a government college is a rank, not a mark. NTA gives no band for 487. In 2026, 90,780 candidates scored 500 or more, so a score of 487 ranks beyond 90,780 at the all-India level.
India has 64,121 government MBBS seats in total (NMC, as on 18 September 2026). A General category government seat at an all-India rank beyond 90,780 is unlikely. Seats in private and deemed colleges, reserved-category seats and state-quota seats can change this. Your state rank may also be much better than your all-India rank. Private and deemed college fees are high.
Yes. Only 19 candidates scored above 700 in 2026, out of 19,99,895 who appeared. A score of exactly 700 sits between rank 20 and rank 138, because 138 candidates scored above 690. Such a score is far above the NEET UG cutoff. The Round 1 ranks below show how far it goes.
No, not in 2026. The lowest qualifying mark in 2026 was 177. So 170 marks did not clear the NEET UG cutoff 2026 category wise in any row. In 2025 the General cutoff was 144 and in 2024 it was 162, so 170 qualified in those years. Even then, qualifying is not a seat. Cutoff marks move every year, so do not plan with one fixed mark.
Nobody can promise a seat at these ranks. NTA publishes no rank-to-college table. MCC calls past ranks indicative, so no one can give a fixed NEET UG cutoff for MBBS by rank. NMC lists 64,121 government and 76,543 private MBBS seats, a total of 1,40,664 as on 18 September 2026. The ranks 20,000, 40,000 and 60,000 all fall inside the government seat count.
Counting is not a promise. Government seats are split across states, categories and quotas, and only 15% are in the All India quota. A rank of 75,000 falls outside the government count but inside the total. Private and deemed seats then become the main option. For a real picture, read the last allotment lists on the MCC archive and your state authority's lists. See the NEET UG colleges page for seat numbers.
Find your category in the NEET UG cutoff 2026 category wise table first. If your score is at or above that mark, register for MCC counselling on mcc.nic.in. Also register for your home-state counselling, as both run separately. In 2026, MCC charged a non-refundable registration fee of ₹1,000 (General and EWS) or ₹500 (SC, ST, OBC and PwBD) for the All India quota, central universities, AIIMS and JIPMER. The refundable security deposit was ₹10,000 or ₹5,000. Deemed universities charged ₹5,000 as registration and ₹2,00,000 as security deposit. These figures are from the , and the 2027 amounts are not announced. Fill your choices in the order you really prefer, and keep your documents ready. The NEET UG counselling page lists the steps.
There is no single NEET UG cutoff for MBBS in a college, because MCC publishes ranks and not cutoff marks. So the NEET UG cutoff for MBBS in a college means the last rank allotted in a round. The ranks below are from Round 1 of the 2026 counselling. The source is the of 24 August 2026.
The NEET UG cutoff for AIIMS Delhi in Round 1 of 2026 was an Open category rank of about 52. At Maulana Azad Medical College (MAMC) it was about 129, and at VMMC and Safdarjung it was 124. These are All India quota, MBBS, non-PwD seats. They are the last ranks seen in that list, not official cutoffs. These ranks are not the same as the NEET UG cutoff 2026 category wise marks given above.

One stray single-candidate allotment at MAMC in the Open list is left out. Lady Hardinge Medical College and University College of Medical Sciences are not shown. Their Round 1 lists have isolated entries that make a clean figure impossible.
Later rounds can end at different ranks, so the NEET UG cutoff for MBBS in one college changes by round. MCC publishes each round on its archive page. Check Round 2, Round 3 and the stray round before you decide. The NEET UG counselling page explains the rounds.
The General NEET UG cutoff was 162 marks in 2024. It fell to 144 in 2025 and rose to 213 in 2026. These cutoff marks moved by tens of marks within two years. The share of appeared candidates who qualified stayed near 56 percent in all three years. So the percentile held steady while the marks moved.
| Year | Highest score | General cutoff mark |
|---|---|---|
| 2024 | 720 | 162 |
| 2025 | 686 | 144 |
| 2026 | 715 | 213 |
| Year | Appeared | Qualified |
|---|---|---|
| 2024 | 23,33,297 | 13,15,853 |
| 2025 | 22,09,318 | 12,36,531 |
| 2026 | 19,99,895 | 11,21,185 |
The number of candidates who appeared fell by about 3.3 lakh between 2024 and 2026. In 2026, 22,79,743 candidates registered and 2,79,848 were absent. The share that qualified is calculated from the NTA figures.
A fixed NEET UG 2027 cutoff cannot be stated now. NTA has announced no date, mode or paper for 2027. The Centre has told the Supreme Court that a move to computer-based tests is under consideration, with no final decision. A parliamentary committee has recommended a yearly review of the qualifying percentile. That is a recommendation, not a rule.
The qualifying NEET UG 2027 cutoff in marks will depend on how the whole group scores. The rule is a percentile. The seat closing rank depends on seats, quotas and choices. These are the factors for each.
