The University Târgu Mure? Medical Campus Hamburg (UMCH) is a private branch of Romania’s George Emil Palade University of Medicine, Pharmacy, Science and Technology of Târgu Mure? (UMFST). Established in 2019, it offers a six-year human medicine program in Germany. The theoretical modules in Hamburg are taught entirely in English, ensuring accessibility for international students. From the third year onward, students complete clinical training at teaching hospitals across Germany, Spain, or Malta, conducted in the respective national languages to provide authentic medical practice exposure. Academic management, including curriculum design, teaching quality, and overall academic governance, is directed by UMFST in Romania, ensuring that the standards and structure remain consistent with the parent university. On the other hand, administrative operations—covering student services, campus logistics, and day-to-day management—are coordinated locally by UMCH staff in Hamburg. Located in Hamburg’s Science City Bahrenfeld, the modern campus spans over 6,000 square meters. It features advanced lecture halls, laboratories, seminar rooms, and cutting-edge tools such as a virtual 3D anatomy/dissection table. Classrooms are equipped with high-definition streaming facilities, supporting hybrid and flexible learning. This dual management approach combines Romanian academic oversight with efficient local administration, offering a high-quality, internationally oriented medical education in Germany.
