The National VET Regulator regulates courses and training providers to ensure nationally approved quality standards are met including providers who provide VET courses to overseas students. Where standards are not met, the National VET Regulator may decide to cancel the training provider’s registration or not renew the registrations which means the training provider will not be able to continue teaching any courses. The National VET Regulator believes that Mercury Colleges Pty Ltd does not meet certain standards and has taken the decisions to not renew Mercury Colleges’ registration as a VET training provider including its registration to deliver VET courses to overseas students. Mercury Colleges Pty Ltd believes it does meet all relevant standards and has challenged these decisions in the Administrative Appeals Tribunal, a body that provides independent review of administrative decisions by the National VET Regulator. It is anticipated that the outcome of the Tribunal’s review will be known within the next 4-6 months. Mercury Colleges Pty Ltd is entitled to continue to provide courses pending the Tribunal’s decision.
