Language Program - Pre-sessional English - For IELTS 6 University of Westminster

The Pre-sessional English 10 weeks (For IELTS 6) program at the University of Westminster is designed for prospective students who wish to improve their Academic English before starting a full-time course at the university. Over a period of 10 weeks, students will engage in intensive English language learning covering all aspects including writing, reading, speaking and listening, with a particular focus on understanding and using academic English. The program helps students to become more competent and confident in using English in an academic context, helping them not only to succeed in their forthcoming studies but also in their future careers. To achieve IELTS 6 level, students will undergo practical and interactive learning activities such as group work, presentations and projects. The program also includes studying the culture and social aspects of living and studying in the UK. By the end of the program, students are expected to have developed a range of study skills like note-taking, reading strategies, and academic writing. They will also have a better understanding of UK academic conventions. The course also prepares students for the range of assessment methods used on UK degree courses. Although the completion of the program does not give automatic admission to degree courses, successful students will find the transition to studying in English at university level considerably easier.

The University of Westminster is a public university based in London, United Kingdom. Founded in 1838 as the Royal Polytechnic Institution, it was the first polytechnic to open in London. The Polytechnic formally received a Royal charter in August 1839, and became the University of Westminster in 1992.
