Language Program - English for Specific Purpose - English for Gastronomy Docklands Academy London

These classes are designed for students who need English for working in food and beverage operations such as one of our partner restaurants. It includes learning most frequently used language in catering contexts. The course has been developed by our English language teachers in conjunction with our specialist Gastronomy expert and qualified chef. We deliver both classroom based learning as well as workshops and practical sessions in our partner restaurant and kitchen. The minimum study time for the course is a week, although we recommend a month to fully explore the language and practical elements of the course.

Docklands Academy, London (DAL) is a modern English Language and Higher Education Academy close to London’s financial district in Canary Wharf, with students from many countries.

English Language Courses are from beginner to advanced levels in General English, English for Specific Purposes, Preparation for IELTS and Cambridge English: First (FCE) or Advanced (CAE). We offer English courses all year round for adults and students who are 16 years or older. We also offer English summer school programmes for groups of children from 10-15 years of age.

As a Higher Education Academy, we offer Pearson Accredited Higher National Certificate (HNC) and Higher National Diploma (HND) in Business, Hospitality Management and International Travel and Tourism Management courses as well as Vocational courses in CIEH Food Safety, Gastronomy and Culinary Arts. Have great facilities on Campus where students enjoy a pleasant atmosphere on campus, with friendly staff and modern facilities. Students can use the library and IT facilities or relax and eat in cafeteria. During break times students can walk along the waterside just outside the Academy, or sit on the grass in good weather by the dock and watch the water sports. They have an open-door policy which means students can have access to all staff to discuss any concerns.
