The Bachelor of Science Master of Teaching in Secondary Education (Chemistry, Physics, Mathematics) program at the University of Technology Sydney is a dual degree program that provides students with deep understanding and skills in specialized science disciplines, alongside the pedagogical knowledge and skills needed to become effective and innovative science teachers.
This five-year full-time course prepares students to teach secondary education level Chemistry, Physics, and Mathematics in Australia and beyond. The first three years are focused on the fundamentals of Chemistry, Physics, and Mathematics, nurturing students’ understanding of these core subjects.
In the last two years, students transition into the Master of Teaching (Secondary) while still continuing their science study. This part of the course prepares students for the professional role of a teacher. It covers areas such as learning theory, teaching methodologies, classroom management strategies, and assessment and evaluation techniques.
Graduates from this program are eligible for accreditation through the New South Wales Education Standards Authority (NESA) and can go on to work as secondary school educators in these disciplines.
