The Honours Degree of Bachelor of Physiotherapy program at The University of Adelaide is a comprehensive health science program that prepares students for a career in physiotherapy. This program focuses on exploring the science behind physiotherapy, gaining insight into the function and dysfunction of the human body, and learning how to diagnose and treat various conditions.
Throughout the program, students will take courses in anatomy, physiology, biology, neuroscience and other related fields. Apart from theoretical learning, practical experience is an important part of the curriculum. Students will have opportunities to gain clinical experience, working directly with patients under the supervision of registered physiotherapists.
The Honours component of the degree also allows students to conduct their own small-scale research project in an area of physiotherapy that interests them, developing research skills and knowledge that can be beneficial in future work or studies.
The program emphasizes the importance of evidence-based practice and encourages critical thinking, problem-solving skills, and a deep understanding of human body function and movement. Upon graduation, students are qualified to register and practice as a physiotherapist.
