RMIT's Bachelor of Social Work (Honours) programme is designed for individuals who are passionate about human rights, social justice, and improving the quality of people's lives. In this course, students gain the necessary skills and knowledge to help people deal with personal and social issues, as well as promote welfare and social change. They are exposed to both theoretical and practical aspects of social work, including children and family social work, community work, couple counseling, group work, and more.
This four-year programme includes placement opportunities where students can apply their learning in real-world social work settings. With a strong focus on international social work, students also have the opportunity to study abroad.
Upon completion, graduates become eligible for membership with the Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW). This degree opens up potential career opportunities in various fields like health, community services, child protection, and disability services among others.
Lastly, the Honours portion of the course allows for a deeper investigation into an area of individual interest, enabling students to not only understand but also contribute to the social work profession. It is perfect for those considering future research or a higher degree by research.
