The Master of Clinical Psychology program at Queensland University of Technology (QUT) is a comprehensive postgraduate program designed to provide students with the skills needed to practice as a licensed clinical psychologist. It incorporates both theoretical and practical components, providing students with a thorough grounding in the principles of clinical psychology, as well as hands-on experience through placements in a variety of settings.
The curriculum is based on the scientist-practitioner model, integrating research methods, evidence-based practices, and advanced clinical skills. Key areas of study include psychological assessment and therapy, mental health issues across the lifespan, ethical and professional issues in psychology, and conducting and evaluating research.
Students will also participate in supervised clinical placements where they will gain valuable experience working with clients in real-world settings. These placements provide opportunities to apply the skills and knowledge learned in the classroom to a clinical setting, and to learn from experienced clinical psychologists.
The QUT Master of Clinical Psychology is a highly competitive program, with a limited number of places available each year. Graduates from this program are eligible for registration as a psychologist with the Psychology Board of Australia, and endorsement as a clinical psychologist following completion of the clinical psychology registrar program.
