The Bachelor of Education (Primary) program at Queensland University of Technology (QUT) is an undergraduate degree designed for those who wish to become primary school teachers. The course blends theory and practice, equipping students with the knowledge and skills to effectively facilitate learning in children from Prep to Year 6.
This four-year program includes studies in literacy, numeracy, curriculum, pedagogy, child development, and inclusivity in primary classrooms. Students also have the opportunity to specialize in an area, such as mathematics, science, or languages, in order to diversify their skills and enhance their employability.
Beyond theoretical study, the program involves 90 days of supervised professional experience in schools and other learning sites, allowing students to put theory into practice, and gain firsthand experience in teaching primary-aged children. Completing the course prepares graduates to meet Australian professional teaching standards and makes them eligible for teacher registration in Australia.
At QUT, students engage with professional educators and experience transformative learning through state-of-the-art virtual learning tools. Thorough units of study and hands-on-practice give future teachers a solid foundation for their career.
