At Curtin University, the Bachelor of Psychology program is a comprehensive, full-time course lasting four years. This program offers students an in-depth understanding of human behavior, as well as valuable skills in critical thinking, research methods, problem-solving, and communication. It prepares students well for work in the fields of health services, social work, counselling, human resources, and more.
Students of the program will undertake study in all the main areas of psychology, including cognitive psychology, social psychology, personality and assessment, developmental psychology, and biological bases of behavior. Additionally, students will also explore research methods and the ethical considerations therein while also engaging in a significant amount of statistical application and interpretation.
To conclude their studies, students undertake an honours program which includes a significant research project in their final year. Upon graduation, students will be eligible for provisional registration as a psychologist, provided they further complete an approved fourth-year program in Psychology.
The course uses a variety of delivery methods including: laboratory classes, lectures, online activities, workshops and tutorials. Digital resources allow students to learn in a non-traditional style, enjoying the benefits of more interactive learning procedures. Practical fieldwork throughout the course helps to ensure graduates are career-ready.
