Curtin University's Bachelor of Design (Fashion Design) is a comprehensive program that equips students with the creative skills and strategy to succeed in the global fashion industry. This course emphasizes creativity, experimentation, innovation, and solid understanding of fashion form, structure and concepts.
Students will engage in conceptual development, technological skills, fabric manipulation and garment construction techniques to create contemporary fashion designs. The course also covers ethical practices, cultural and contextual research in design, textiles, historical and contemporary style influences, and the application of design processes.
To ensure students are industry-ready, they experience real-world fashion projects, exhibitions, performances and collaborations. Students also have the opportunity to showcase their final year collections at the fashion show. They will gain direct experience through internships and industry projects in Australia and overseas enriching their understanding of fashion and building industry contacts.
This program is underpinned by sustainability principles and recognizes fashion as a diverse industry that connects multiple sectors such as business, marketing, production, technology, and logistics.
