The Australian Catholic University's Master of Social Work program is designed to equip students with the necessary skills and knowledge required to start a career in social work. This fully accredited program integrates theoretical learning with hands-on field education experience, providing a comprehensive insight into different areas of social work.
Students can expect to explore subjects related to social justice, social policy, child protection, mental health, family support, substance abuse and more. They will develop tools necessary to work with individuals, groups, and communities, with a strong emphasis on ethical practice, human rights, and social justice.
In addition to classroom studies, the program includes at least 1000 hours of supervised field placements, offering students the opportunity to gain practical experience and learning, and to make meaningful contributions to a variety of social service settings. The program is delivered in a flexible mode and is suitable for both domestic and international students.
It prepares graduates for professional leadership roles in a variety of sectors and settings, including health care, education, community services, government, and non-government organizations. The course meets the Australian Social Work Education and Accreditation Standards (ASWEAS) and graduates are eligible to apply for membership with the Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW).
