By Atul Harsha, Content Manager

A CLAT exam registration 2027 form must be complete, submitted and paid by 11:59 PM on 31 October 2026. The side effect is that the Consortium of NLUs does not consider incomplete application forms. The list of centres may change with the number of applications at each centre. The Consortium notifies candidates when their preferences are affected. CategoryUG feePG fee
General and OBC₹4,000₹4,000
NRINot listed on the UG page₹4,000
SC, ST, BPL and PwD₹3,500₹3,500

PwD candidates are in the ₹3,500 group on the CLAT 2027 PG instructions and on the UG page. The UG page names no fee group for NRI candidates. A UG candidate in that category can ask the helpdesk before paying the CLAT application fee. Candidates also bear the bank transaction charges on the CLAT application fee. The payment gateway shows the actual charge after you choose a payment mode.

Is the CLAT application fee refundable?

No, CLAT exam registration fees are non-refundable and non-adjustable. If you file more than one form, the Consortium considers only the last form. The CLAT application fee paid on earlier forms is not refunded. If a detail is wrong, edit your existing form while registration is open.

What is the optional ₹500 previous papers add-on?

The ₹500 charge is for previous years' question papers. It is not part of the ₹4,000 or ₹3,500 CLAT application fee. The payment screen asks "Do you want Previous Year Question Papers?", and you answer Yes or No. The add-on is optional. The CLAT previous year question papers page lists the papers the Consortium hosts.

Is the CLAT registration fee the full cost of joining an NLU?

No, the CLAT 2027 registration fees cover only the application. Tuition and other fees of each NLU are in the Information Brochure on the Consortium website. Each NLU also lists its fee on its own website. Read that fee structure for every NLU you plan to list before you pay the CLAT application fee.

Documents Required for CLAT Application Form 2027

The CLAT registration documents for every candidate include a photograph and a signature. Candidates who claim a category benefit also upload a certificate for that category with the CLAT application form. The allotted university collects the original certificates after CLAT exam registration, at admission.

Which documents are required for the CLAT 2027 application form?

The CLAT registration documents are a recent front-facing photograph on a plain background and the candidate's signature. A certificate is needed only for the category you claim.

You apply underUploadFormat
SC, ST or OBCCategory certificatePDF, under 1.5 MB
PwDUDID card or disability certificatePDF, under 1.5 MB
BPLBPL certificate from a competent authorityPDF, under 1.5 MB

Keep these CLAT registration documents scanned before you start the form. PwD candidates also state in the form whether they need a scribe. They say whether they will bring their own scribe or want the Consortium to provide one. For any other need, a PwD candidate writes to the PwD Nodal Officer at nodalofficer-pwd@consortiumofnlus.ac.in. The mail must reach the officer at least 10 working days before the exam.

Do I need a reservation certificate or domicile proof to register?

You need a reservation certificate only to claim a category benefit, and the NLU asks for it at admission. The form has an upload field for the category certificate if you apply under SC, ST or OBC. The official CLAT 2027 FAQs say a candidate without a reservation certificate today may still apply. That candidate must submit the document at admission, or becomes ineligible for the course.

Domicile matters only for state-level reservation. Select a state only if you are a domicile of that state and hold the relevant certificate. The form warns that a category without documentary proof might disqualify your candidature. Claim only the categories for which you hold a reservation certificate.

Documents: Frequently Asked Questions

1. Do original certificates go to the Consortium?

No, candidates upload copies with the form. The original certificates go to the allotted university at admission, in the manner that university specifies.

2. What if my documents do not match the form?

The provisional admission is cancelled with immediate effect if the form and the documents show a mismatch. If the mismatch concerns a reservation category, the candidate is considered in later rounds without that category.

3. Does a spelling mistake in my name matter?

Yes, the Consortium requires your name and your parents' names to match the certificates, mark sheets and identity proof. Any change or alteration found may disqualify the candidature.

CLAT 2027 Photo and Signature Specifications

CLAT exam registration needs the photograph and the signature in JPEG or PNG format. The CLAT photo and signature size rules start there, because the form prints a format but no size. Neither file needs attestation. The CLAT application form crops both images after upload and has buttons to rotate them.

What is the CLAT photo and signature size for CLAT 2027?

The Consortium has not published a CLAT photo and signature size in KB or pixels for CLAT 2027. File size limit: Not officially announced as of 13 October 2026. The form prints only the format and background rules below.

ItemPhotographSignature
FormatJPEG or PNGJPEG or PNG
BackgroundLight, with the face front-facingWhite
InkNot applicableBlack or blue

If an upload fails during CLAT exam registration, check the CLAT photo and signature size, format and background first. Then write to the helpdesk with the problem.

CLAT Form Correction 2027: How to Edit Application Form

Candidates can edit CLAT exam registration details only until 31 October 2026. The Consortium states that updates to the application form will not be entertained after the closure date. Every CLAT form correction therefore needs to happen before the CLAT 2027 registration last date.

How do I edit the CLAT application form after submitting?

Log in to your CLAT account and click the "Edit Application Form" button. For a test centre change, open the Test Centre Preference tab, pick the new city and click Save/Submit. For a reservation change, open the Reservations tab, make the change and click Save/Submit.

The official notices show this button for two kinds of CLAT form correction, test centre preference and reservation category. The instructions do not list other editable fields. If the button does not show the field you need, ask the helpdesk about the CLAT form correction. The instructions do say that programme, category and the BPL field cannot be changed after you submit and pay. A name that does not match your certificates may disqualify the candidature, so check the spelling before you pay.

Is there a CLAT form correction window after 31 October 2026?

The Consortium has announced no separate CLAT form correction window after the closing date. Not officially announced as of 13 October 2026. The official instructions say updates are not entertained after closure. Treat 31 October 2026 as the last day for every CLAT exam registration correction.

Do the WBNUJS and NLU Meghalaya reservation changes affect my form?

Yes, if you applied under West Bengal OBC-A, West Bengal OBC-B or the Meghalaya domicile category. Review your reservation choice in the form. Both NLUs changed their seat matrix in notices dated 5 September 2026. Update your CLAT exam registration form by 31 October 2026.

  • WBNUJS (UG and PG): OBC-A and OBC-B of West Bengal are removed, and OBC of West Bengal is added.
  • NLU Meghalaya (UG and PG): Khasi & Jaintia, Garo, and Other Scheduled Castes/Other Scheduled Tribes of Meghalaya are added.

In the Reservations tab, answer the "Are you a domicile of ..." question for West Bengal or Meghalaya. Then select the category you want to claim and click Save/Submit.
