The GATE Result 2027 shows four things: marks scored, GATE Score, AIR, and category-wise qualifying status. IIT Madras conducts GATE 2027 and declares the result through the GOAPS portal on 19 March 2027. Qualified candidates get a scorecard, valid for three years. It works for M.Tech, M.E., M.S., direct PhD admissions and PSU recruitment. The result is generated separately for each paper, so candidates who attempted two papers get two separate results.

Check GATE 2027 ResultPortal timing may shift by a few hours
Heavy server load can delay the exact release time. The portal often opens late evening, so refresh after 5 PM on 19 March 2027 instead of earlier.
Downloading the GATE 2027 result takes seven steps on the GOAPS portal.
Step 1
Visit the GOAPS portal
Go to the official GOAPS portal for GATE 2027, hosted by IIT Madras.
Step 2
Click the result link
Click the GATE 2027 Result link once it goes live.
Step 3
Log in
Enter your Enrolment ID or Email ID, password and captcha.
Step 4
Select the paper code
Pick the paper or subject code if prompted. This matters for two-paper candidates.
Step 5
View your result
Check raw marks, GATE Score, qualifying status and AIR on screen.
Step 6
Download and print
Save the result as a PDF and take a printout as backup.
Step 7
Verify every field
Cross-check your name, enrolment ID, paper code and date of birth.
Expect slow load on result day
Millions log in at the same time, so the portal may run slow. Wait 15 to 20 minutes and retry, instead of refreshing repeatedly. Repeated wrong logins can lock your session for a while.
The GATE result and the GATE scorecard are two different documents.
| Document | Who Gets It | What It Shows | Typical Release |
|---|---|---|---|
| GATE Result | Every candidate who appears | Marks, GATE Score, AIR, qualifying status (pass/fail) | On result day itself |
| GATE Scorecard | Only candidates who qualify | Official scorecard used for admissions and PSU applications | A few days to a week after the result |
Both documents come from the same GOAPS login. The scorecard stays downloadable for several months. A nominal fee may apply once the free download window closes.
The GATE 2027 scorecard carries these details for every qualified candidate.
Check every field carefully
A mismatch, even a minor spelling error, can delay verification during counselling. Raise a correction request with IIT Madras quickly if you spot one.
GATE 2027 marks go through three stages before ranking: normalization, GATE Score conversion, and percentile calculation.
Papers held across multiple sessions, such as CS and Civil, face difficulty differences between sessions. IIT Madras adjusts raw marks using the mean and standard deviation of each candidate's own session. This gives a normalized mark out of 100. Single-session papers skip this step entirely.
| Term | What It Means |
|---|---|
| Raw Marks | Actual marks scored out of 100 (single-session papers) |
| Normalized Marks | Adjusted marks out of 100 for multi-session papers |
| GATE Score | Final standardized score out of 1000, used for ranking and admissions |
| Percentile | Percentage of candidates who scored at or below your GATE Score in that paper |
| AIR | Your actual rank position among all candidates in that paper |
The chain runs in order: marks, then normalization where it applies, then GATE Score, then percentile and rank.
GATE result dates have stayed close to 19 March for three years running.
| Year | Result Date | Conducting Institute | Notable Trend |
|---|---|---|---|
| GATE 2025 | 19 March 2025 | IIT Roorkee | Topper list released around 25 March, merit list largely handled through branch-wise cutoffs |
| GATE 2026 | 19 March 2026 | IIT Guwahati | Scorecard released 27 March 2026, branch-wise cutoffs and topper list published in the same window |
| GATE 2027 | 19 March 2027 | IIT Madras | Exam spread across six days in February, normalization applied to multi-session papers |
The result date falls on or near 19 March, five to six weeks after the exam ends. The scorecard for qualified candidates follows within a week or two. Cutoffs for Computer Science and Electronics run higher than core branches. The score band for the top 100 AIR stayed narrow each year. Topper lists, with AIR 1 for every paper, publish alongside branch-wise cutoffs a few days after the result.
Seven steps follow the GATE 2027 result, from scorecard download to counselling enrollment.
Download the scorecard immediately and match every detail with your application form.
Qualifying status differs across General, OBC-NCL, EWS, SC, ST and PwD categories. Confirm which one applies to you.
For identical GATE Scores, institutes apply a fixed order: subject-specific section performance first, then GA marks, then age (older candidates get preference). If still tied, both candidates get the same AIR, and the next rank is skipped.
COAP releases the merit list for IITs and IISc. CCMT releases it for NITs, IIITs and GFTIs. Both come out once results and scorecards are finalized, ranking all qualified candidates in a branch for seat allotment.
Register for the relevant GATE 2027 counselling process within the stipulated period. Missing the deadline can cost a seat, even after qualifying through GATE 2027.
Candidates who gave GATE more than once should keep all scorecards ready. Institutes usually accept whichever scorecard gives the highest rank.
PSUs shortlist candidates using the latest GATE Score, without a separate written test. Track notifications from PSUs relevant to your branch.
