LIBA holds rank 55 in the NIRF 2025 Management category. Its score is 53.12 out of 100 (NIRF 2025 Management Ranking). Its NIRF institute ID is IR-M-S-331.
NIRF has not published a 2026 Management ranking, so NIRF 2025 is the current edition. Any "NIRF 2026" rank quoted for LIBA is not a published figure.
Management is the only NIRF category LIBA is ranked in. It does not appear in the NIRF Overall, University, Research or College lists. That is expected for a standalone AICTE-approved management institute, which is not a university.
Up, and by a clear margin. LIBA chennai moved from rank 66 in NIRF 2024 to rank 55 in NIRF 2025, an eleven-place improvement in one edition. Its score rose from 49.26 to 53.12.
In NIRF 2023 LIBA did not appear in the published Management top 100. It did not appear in the 101-125 band either. So this is a two-year climb from outside the published list into the top 60.
A rank moving a few places is usually noise. Eleven places, with a score gain of 3.86 points, is a real move.

NIRF scores every ranked institute on five parameters. The headline rank hides which of them LIBA is actually good at. That split is the most useful thing here.
| NIRF 2025 parameter | LIBA score | What it measures |
|---|---|---|
| Teaching, Learning and Resources (TLR) | 74.53 | Faculty strength, student strength, faculty qualifications, financial resources |
| Research and Professional Practice (RPC) | 19.26 | Publications, citations, patents, funded projects |
| Graduation Outcomes (GO) | 77.18 | Placement, higher studies, examination results |
| Outreach and Inclusivity (OI) | 72.00 | Regional and gender diversity, support for disadvantaged students |
| Perception (PR) | 23.45 | How employers, academics and the public rate the institute |
| Total | 53.12 | Weighted composite, giving rank 55 |

Graduation Outcomes, at 77.18, is LIBA's strongest parameter. That is the parameter built on what happens to students after the programme: placement, higher studies and exam results. It lines up with LIBA's own filed placement data. That data shows 232 of 238 placed in the 2023-24 graduating year, with a median of ₹11 lakh. The LIBA placement record sets out that data year by year.
Teaching, Learning and Resources at 74.53 is close behind. LIBA reported 35 faculty members against 480 PG students in the same filing.
Research, at 19.26, is the weakest score by a wide margin. It is 58 points below LIBA's Graduation Outcomes score. RPC measures publications, citations, patents and funded projects. A low score means LIBA's academic research output is small relative to the institutes around it.
Whether that should change your decision depends on what you want. If you are joining the two-year PGDM to get a job, the parameter that predicts your outcome is Graduation Outcomes. LIBA scores well there. If you are considering the Fellow Programme in Management or the doctoral route, research output matters most. This is the number to weigh.
Perception, at 23.45, is the second weakest. It measures how employers and academics rate LIBA against other management institutes. A high outcomes score beside a low perception score usually points one way. The institute delivers for the students inside it. Its name carries less weight outside its own region than its results warrant.
LIBA is not ranked by QS. It does not appear in the QS World University Rankings or the QS Business Masters Rankings. It is also absent from the QS Global MBA Rankings. It is also absent from the QS subject ranking for Business and Management Studies.
| QS ranking | LIBA's position |
|---|---|
| QS World University Rankings | Not ranked |
| QS Business Masters Rankings | Not ranked |
| QS Global MBA Rankings | Not ranked |
| QS World University Rankings by Subject, Business and Management | Not ranked |
This is not unusual and it is not a mark against LIBA on its own. QS rankings are largely built around universities and around MBA degree programmes. LIBA is a standalone institute awarding an AICTE-approved diploma, which places it outside the frame most QS tables use.
Take care with search results here. "Loyola University" and "Loyola University Chicago" do appear on QS listings, and neither is LIBA. Those are separate American institutions with no connection to Loyola Institute of Business Administration, Chennai.
LIBA does not appear in the Financial Times business school rankings. It is not in the FT Global MBA Ranking or the FT Masters in Management Ranking. It is also absent from the FT Executive Education rankings.

The FT rankings require international accreditation as an entry condition, typically AACSB or EQUIS. LIBA holds neither. It does not appear on the EQUIS accredited-schools list, the AMBA accredited-schools directory or the AACSB accredited-school listing.
LIBA's published international accreditation is SAQS, awarded by AMDISA, per its full-time PGDM brochure. It also states AICTE approval, AIU recognition and NBA accreditation. SAQS is a South Asian quality standard and is not an entry route to the FT tables.
LIBA holds one course-level ranking, and it covers the institute as a management school rather than a single programme.
| Programme | Ranking held |
|---|---|
| PGDM Full-Time | Covered by NIRF 2025 Management rank 55 |
| PGDM Weekend | No separate ranking published |
| Online PGDM | No separate ranking published |
| Fellow Programme in Management | No separate ranking published |
| PGP in Logistics | No separate ranking published |
| PGP in Sustainability and Circular Economy | No separate ranking published |
| Executive Diploma in Management | No separate ranking published |
NIRF ranks institutes in the Management category as whole institutions, not programme by programme. So rank 55 describes LIBA as a management school. It is not a rank for the full-time PGDM specifically. It carries no information at all about the online or weekend routes.
That matters if you are comparing the Online PGDM at ₹3,50,000 against the full-time programme at ₹18,89,700. Do not lean on the NIRF rank for that comparison. The rank does not cover the online route. The LIBA courses list sets out the difference between them.
The useful comparison is not with the IIMs. It is with the management institutes in and around Chennai that a LIBA applicant would realistically also consider.
| Institute | NIRF 2025 Management rank | Score |
|---|---|---|
| Indian Institute of Technology Madras | 13 | 66.50 |
| Great Lakes Institute of Management, Chennai | 37 | 58.05 |
| Loyola Institute of Business Administration (LIBA) | 55 | 53.12 |
| S.R.M. Institute of Science and Technology | 56 | 52.74 |
| Anna University | 88 | 46.92 |
| Bharathidasan Institute of Management, Tiruchirappalli | 96 | 45.36 |

No. LIBA scored 53.12 and SRM scored 52.74, a difference of 0.38 points out of 100. One place apart on a gap that small is statistical noise, not a quality difference. Choose between them on fee, location, specialisation and placement record, not on the rank order.
Great Lakes ranked 37 with 58.05 against LIBA's 55 with 53.12, a real gap of 4.93 points. The parameter split explains where it comes from. Great Lakes scored 32.86 on Research against LIBA's 19.26. It also scored 80.97 on Teaching, Learning and Resources against LIBA's 74.53.
LIBA is ahead on two parameters. Its Graduation Outcomes score of 77.18 beats Great Lakes' 73.90. Its Perception score of 23.45 beats Great Lakes' 20.50 too. So LIBA's rank gap is driven mainly by research output, not by what happens to its graduates.
Bharathidasan Institute of Management, at rank 96, is the reverse case. It scored 33.51 on Perception, higher than both LIBA and Great Lakes, but only 1.06 on Research. A single weak parameter can move a rank a long way.
