Loyola College on Sterling Road is a landmark every Chennai auto and cab driver knows. LIBA sits inside the same campus, but the name LIBA on its own will not get you there. Ask for Loyola College, Sterling Road, then walk to the LIBA block.
Distances and travel times on it are approximate. LIBA does not publish distance or travel-time figures on its official pages. So every number here is labelled as an approximation, not a fixed figure. The address itself is confirmed from LIBA's own admissions portal.
Chennai International Airport at Meenambakkam is the only airport serving the city. It handles both domestic and international flights from two adjacent terminals.
From the airport to Nungambakkam is roughly 15 to 18 km, and the road time varies a great deal. Expect around 45 minutes in light traffic and up to 75 minutes in the evening peak.
Three ways into the city from the airport:
If you are arriving the night before an interview, take the cab. The saving on the other two options is not worth the risk of a missed connection at 11 pm.
Chennai has two main long-distance terminals and a useful suburban stop right next to the campus.
| Station | Approximate distance to LIBA | Use it for |
|---|---|---|
| Nungambakkam | 1 to 2 km | Suburban trains, the closest station to the campus |
| Chennai Egmore | 5 to 6 km | Most trains from within Tamil Nadu and the south |
| Chennai Central (MGR Chennai Central) | 6 to 7 km | Long-distance trains from across India |
| Chetpet | 2 to 3 km | An alternative suburban stop |
Arriving at Chennai Central. This is where most long-distance trains terminate. Take an auto or app cab to Loyola College, Sterling Road. Approximately 20 to 40 minutes depending on traffic, with an approximate auto fare of ₹150 to ₹300.
Arriving at Chennai Egmore. Slightly closer than Central and usually an easier exit. Same approach: auto or app cab to Loyola College, Sterling Road.
Arriving at Nungambakkam suburban station. This is the closest option and the one to aim for if you are travelling light. From the station it is a short auto ride, or a walk of roughly 15 to 25 minutes. The time depends on which exit you take.
Nungambakkam is well inside the city, so road access is straightforward once you are in Chennai. Sterling Road connects to Nungambakkam High Road and to Poonamallee High Road, both major arteries.
By intercity bus. Kilambakkam Bus Terminus, in the south of the city, handles most intercity services now. It replaced much of the traffic that used to run through Koyambedu. Koyambedu Bus Terminus still handles a share of services. From either, take the metro or an app cab towards Nungambakkam.
By MTC city bus. Metropolitan Transport Corporation buses run through Nungambakkam from most parts of Chennai. This is the cheapest road option, with fares typically in the ₹10 to ₹30 range. Ask for the Sterling Road or Loyola College stop.
By car. Parking near Sterling Road is limited, especially on weekdays. If you are driving for an interview, allow extra time for parking rather than for the drive itself.
Chennai traffic is the variable that decides your journey, not the distance. A 6 km trip across the city can take 20 minutes at 7 am and 50 minutes at 6 pm. Plan around the time of day.
The cheapest route into LIBA is the suburban train to Nungambakkam station. From there, take a short auto ride or walk to Loyola College, Sterling Road.

The metro deserves a mention beyond its cost. It is the one option in Chennai that road traffic does not affect. That makes it the reliable choice when you have a fixed appointment time in the morning or evening peak.
Once you are in Chennai, Nungambakkam is one of the easier addresses to reach. It is central, well served by buses, and sits on the suburban rail line, with the Green Line metro a short ride away.
LIBA's full-time PGDM is a residential programme. Hostel accommodation comes in AC and non-AC options, with separate blocks for men and women (LIBA PGDM admissions page). If you are joining the programme rather than visiting, the daily commute question largely disappears. The LIBA hostel and other fees set out what accommodation costs.
The nearest railway station is Nungambakkam, about 1 km away, and the nearest open metro station is Pachaiyappa's College on the Green Line. The distances below are measured from the Loyola College campus on Sterling Road and are approximate.
| Stop | Distance from the campus | Note |
|---|---|---|
| Nungambakkam railway station | About 1 km | Chennai suburban line, a short auto ride or walk |
| Pachaiyappa's College metro station | About 2.5 km by road | Green Line, the nearest open station |

A few practical points for a first visit. This matters most if you are coming for the selection rounds in February or March 2027.
Name the landmark, not the institute. Loyola College, Sterling Road, Nungambakkam. Drivers know the college. Many will not know LIBA.
Carry some cash. UPI works almost everywhere in Chennai, including with most auto drivers. Some older drivers and smaller shops still prefer cash, and a network drop at the wrong moment is inconvenient.
Allow for traffic, not distance. Every distance on it is short. None of the travel times are, at peak hours. For an interview, leave with an hour in hand beyond what a maps app estimates.
Plan for the weather. Chennai is hot and humid for most of the year. The north-east monsoon also brings heavy rain between October and December. Rain slows city traffic considerably. If you are visiting in that window, add more time.
Book onward travel before you arrive. If you are returning the same day after an interview, book the train or flight in advance. Chennai Central and Egmore are busy terminals and same-day availability is not reliable.
Confirm your reporting point with LIBA. LIBA shares the Loyola College Campus with a large undergraduate college, so the campus is bigger than the institute. Ask admissions@liba.edu which gate and which block to report to. This matters most if you are arriving early in the morning.
The LIBA admission process sets out when the selection rounds run and what to carry with you.
