The IIM Calcutta course fees differ mostly in what they include, not only in the amount. The MBAEx fee covers a room and an overseas module. The full-time Ph.D. has no tuition fee at all. IIM Calcutta pays each doctoral student a monthly stipend of Rs 42,000 to Rs 50,000, depending on the stage of the thesis. Among paid programmes, the one-year PGPEX-VLM has the lowest IIM Calcutta fees. It needs an engineering degree and work experience.
The IIM Calcutta course fee for the MBAEx is Rs 33,50,000 for Batch 19 (2025-26), and it is not refundable. You can also pay the equivalent in US dollars. It is higher than the MBA because it includes accommodation and an overseas immersion with economy airfare. Batch 21 (2027-28) has not published its fee yet.

The MBA schedule adds a refundable caution deposit of Rs 20,000. The PGDBA adds Rs 10,000. The MBAEx fee leaves out electricity and food. The PGPEX-VLM fee leaves out accommodation. Ask for food and mess charges in writing before you pay.
You pay the IIM Calcutta fees at the start of each term. The Rs 1,00,000 deposit you pay on accepting the offer counts towards Term I. At registration you pay the balance of Term I, which is Rs 4,40,000, plus the Rs 20,000 caution deposit. That makes Rs 4,60,000 in one payment. From Term II to Term VI, you pay only through the institute's payment gateway.

The IIM Calcutta course fees of other programmes follow their own plans. The MBAEx Batch 19 plan asked for Rs 2,00,000 on acceptance and three payments of Rs 10,50,000. It also took a Rs 60,000 security deposit. The PGDBA takes four equal payments, one at each semester. The Executive Ph.D. takes Rs 1,00,000 on acceptance, then three payments of Rs 8,00,000. IIM Calcutta states that late payment can attract a penalty, so check the dates in your offer letter.
Scholarships and need-based aid can lower your IIM Calcutta fees, but they reach only some students. Named awards such as the Aditya Birla Scholarship and the IDFC First Bank MBA Scholarship are few in number. No full waiver is published, so no scholarship covers the full IIM Calcutta fees for the MBA. Need-based aid depends on your family income. The amount for each student is not printed, so apply early and keep a loan plan ready. Government of India schemes for SC, ST and other groups are paid through the concerned ministries.
The refund rule for IIM Calcutta fees comes from a Ministry notice that the institute publishes. The notice was issued by the Ministry of Human Resource Development, now the Ministry of Education. The notice asks for a refund of nearly the full fee if you withdraw before the course starts. It allows a processing fee of not more than Rs 1,000. If you leave after joining and the seat is filled by the last date, the refund carries a proportionate deduction. The deduction covers the monthly fee and hostel rent.
The Rs 1,00,000 deposit is adjusted against Term I. The Rs 20,000 caution deposit returns when you leave, after adjustments. The institute publishes the Ministry notice on refund; ask the MBA office how it applies to your batch.
The Batch 19 fee of Rs 33,50,000 is stated as not refundable. The Rs 60,000 security deposit is refunded after the programme, after adjustments.
