MNIT Jaipur Overview

Malaviya National Institute of Technology Jaipur (MNIT Jaipur) is a public, centrally funded technical institute. It sits on Jawahar Lal Nehru Marg in Jaipur. It started in 1963 as Malaviya Regional Engineering College (MREC). It became a full National Institute of Technology on 26 June 2002 (mnit.ac.in). It gained Institute of National Importance status under the NIT Act on 15 August 2007. MNIT Jaipur admits B.Tech students through JEE Main and JoSAA counselling, not through its own entrance test.

The institute's strongest verified number is its Computer Science and Engineering placement record. The 2024-25 batch recorded a ₹13 LPA median package and a ₹19.80 LPA average (). The highest offer that year was ₹64 LPA. What the headline "average package" figure hides is the branch gap. Architecture placed at a ₹5.5 LPA median in the same year, and Civil Engineering at ₹7.5 LPA. A JEE Main rank that gets you into MNIT Jaipur does not tell you which outcome you get. The institute allots seats by category and quota, not by a single combined merit list.

A candidate with a strong JEE Main rank in Computer Science, Electronics or Electrical Engineering gets a genuinely good outcome here. The fee stays low and income-linked. A candidate looking only at a branch like Metallurgical Engineering or Civil Engineering should check twice. Read the MNIT Jaipur placement report branch table before assuming the institute-wide average applies to you.

What is MNIT Jaipur known for? MNIT Jaipur is known for its Computer Science, Electronics and Electrical branches, which post the highest packages on campus. It is also known for its NIRF 2025 rank of 12 in Architecture and Planning (NIRF 2025, mnit.ac.in). That is well ahead of its Engineering rank of 42.

Who should choose MNIT Jaipur over a private engineering college? A candidate whose rank clears the JoSAA closing rank for a core branch should pick MNIT Jaipur. Most private colleges cannot match it. The fee is a fraction of private-college tuition. The placement record in core branches is also stronger.

MNIT Jaipur Courses and Fees 2027

MNIT Jaipur runs ten B.Tech branches and one B.Arch programme. It also has an MBA, several M.Tech specialisations, M.Plan, M.Sc and PhD programmes (). These sit across 14 departments and three centres. The B.Tech branches are Computer Science, Electronics and Communication, Electrical, Mechanical, Civil and Chemical Engineering, plus Metallurgical and Materials Engineering. The newer ones are Artificial Intelligence and Data Engineering, Engineering Physics, and Mathematics and Computing. The five-year B.Arch runs alongside them (JoSAA 2026 seat matrix, MNIT Jaipur).

The B.Tech tuition fee is not one fixed number. It depends on the family's annual income slab. For students admitted in 2026-27, General and OBC candidates with income above ₹5 lakh pay ₹62,500 tuition per semester. Candidates in the ₹1-5 lakh slab pay ₹20,834. Candidates below ₹1 lakh income pay zero tuition. All SC/ST/PwD candidates pay zero tuition regardless of income (). Institute fees of about ₹18,450 a semester apply to every category. Hostel room rent and the mess advance take the four-year cost for a top-slab student to about ₹9.6 lakh. See the full MNIT Jaipur fee structure and payment schedule for the year-by-year breakup.

What is the MNIT Jaipur MBA fee? MNIT Jaipur's Department of Management Studies runs a 75-seat MBA. It admits students through CAT, XAT, CMAT, MAT or GMAT scores plus a Personal Interview. The full-time MBA tuition for students admitted in 2026-27 is ₹50,000 a semester for General and OBC candidates. The four-semester total is about ₹3.12 lakh, as set out on the MNIT Jaipur MBA fee page.

Does MNIT Jaipur Have a Student Exchange Programme?

Yes. MNIT Jaipur runs student exchange through agreements with partner universities abroad. The International and Alumni Affairs office says its students have gone to Canada, Taiwan, Germany, Japan and the USA under such programmes. The office lists thesis work at Hiroshima University in Japan under an MoU, and the SURI programme of the University of Saskatchewan in Canada. The latest visit on that list is from 2019. Read the MNIT Jaipur student visit and exchange page before you plan an exchange.

MNIT Jaipur Admission and Application Process 2027

B.Tech and B.Arch admission at MNIT Jaipur runs only through JoSAA counselling after JEE Main. CSAB follows for any seats left after JoSAA rounds close. There is no separate MNIT Jaipur entrance test or application form for undergraduate admission (Admission FAQ, mnit.ac.in). Foreign nationals, NRIs, OCIs and PIOs join through DASA, which also uses a JEE Main score. M.Tech admission runs through GATE and the institute's own PG/PhD counselling process. MBA admission runs through a written management test score plus interview.

Seats are split by Home State (Rajasthan-domicile) and Other State quotas. The split changes the closing rank a candidate needs. JoSAA 2026 ran five rounds, and Round 5 was the last. In Round 5, the Computer Science Open closing rank was 6,143 for Home State. It was 5,868 for Other State (JoSAA 2026 closing ranks). See the full MNIT Jaipur admission process and dates for the round-by-round schedule.

MNIT Jaipur Placements and Salary Packages 2026

The 2024-25 UG batch placed 567 of 717 registered students, a 79.08% placement rate. The average package was ₹12.85 LPA and the median was ₹10 LPA (MNIT Jaipur Placement Report 2024-25). Computer Science led every branch, at a ₹19.80 LPA average and ₹13 LPA median. Architecture and Planning closed the year at a ₹6.24 LPA average. Full branch-wise detail sits on the MNIT Jaipur placement report page.

How to Check MNIT Jaipur Cutoff 2026

Check your JEE Main category rank against the JoSAA closing rank on the MNIT Jaipur cutoff page. Match it to your target branch, quota and counselling round. Closing ranks vary by round, so a rank that misses the seat in round 1 can still clear later.

MNIT Jaipur Scholarships 2027

MNIT Jaipur's own fee-waiver system already removes tuition for most SC/ST candidates. It also removes tuition for General/OBC candidates with income below ₹1 lakh. On top of that, the institute administers Merit-cum-Means (MCM) scholarships and an SC/ST category institute scholarship. It also channels a long list of state government post-matric scholarships for SC/ST/OBC/PwD students (). Full route-by-route detail is on the MNIT Jaipur scholarship page.

MNIT Jaipur Ranking 2026

MNIT Jaipur carries five NIRF 2025 ranks. Engineering is 42, Overall is 77, Architecture and Planning is 12, Management is 62 and Research Institutions is 50. How Were These MNIT Jaipur Reviews Chosen?

Where do these reviews come from?

We read about 24 Reddit threads, mostly from 2024 to 2026, where students, alumni and applicants discuss MNIT Jaipur. Reddit did not let us open full comment pages, so we read the post text and the comment extracts that a search tool returned. We may have missed replies deep inside long threads.

We also read about 9 Quora answers, most of them older. The Google rating of 4.6 from about 2,344 ratings is from the public Google Maps page. We did not collect Google review text in bulk, so no point on this page rests on Google review text beyond the rating.

What did we keep and leave out?

We kept posts that gave specific detail and, where possible, came from current students or alumni, with recent posts first.

We left out review sites that collect ratings, paid or promoted posts, the college's own material, Quora's automatic answer blocks, and posts that read like generated text. We also left out jokes, deleted posts, serious allegations that we could not verify, and any fee, cutoff, package, rank or date quoted in a post.

What do these reviews not cover?

Posts on fees against value, safety, and the MBA and M.Tech programmes were few or mixed, so we say little on them. Many Quora answers on faculty and hostels are several years old, so we treat them with care. Read the MNIT Jaipur fees page for the official fee.

Is MNIT Jaipur Worth It? Who It Suits and Who It Does Not

Students say MNIT Jaipur is worth it if you value campus life and a central location, and if you are ready to build your own placement preparation.

  • You want a green campus in a large city, with lively fests.
  • You are ready to start data structures, projects and internships from the first year.
  • You choose a circuit branch, or you plan to add skills to a core branch.
