IIT Delhi Cutoff 2026

The table below gives the OPEN, Gender-Neutral closing rank for every IIT Delhi programme. Each figure comes from the final JoSAA round of that year. OPEN ranks are Common Rank List ranks, so you compare your own CRL rank against them directly.

Read the trend column the way you read a shop's price list from three different years. A branch whose number keeps falling is getting harder. A branch whose number keeps rising is getting easier to reach.

Data Sources: JoSAA opening and closing ranks 2026; JoSAA previous-year archive. All figures are OPEN, Gender-Neutral, All India quota, from the final round of each cycle: Round 5 in 2024, Round 6 in 2025, Round 5 in 2026.

Why does the round matter when you compare years? JoSAA ran six rounds in 2025 and five in 2024 and 2026. A sixth round fills a few more seats. So a 2025 number sits slightly deeper down the rank list than a 2024 or 2026 one. Treat year-to-year moves of a few dozen ranks as noise, not as a trend.

IIT Delhi also admits to its Abu Dhabi campus through JoSAA. Those seats sit in the same allotment, under their own programme names.

IIT Delhi Section-Wise JEE Advanced Rank Cutoff 2026

JEE Advanced reports a rank, not a percentile. It gives you two ranks, and both matter. Your Common Rank List rank places you against candidates who qualify for inclusion in the Common Rank List.

JoSAA then uses the right one for the right seat. For an OPEN seat, it reads your CRL rank. For an EWS, OBC-NCL, SC, ST or PwD seat, it reads your category rank. So the 128 shown above for Computer Science and Engineering is a CRL number. The 62 shown for SC in the next table is a category rank.

Does a good CRL rank guarantee a good category rank? No. Your category rank counts only candidates from your own category who scored above you. The wider field does not touch it. Two candidates with nearly the same CRL rank can hold very different category ranks. The category rank usually decides a reserved seat.

IIT Delhi Category-Wise Cutoff 2026

JoSAA runs a separate seat pool for each category, so each category closes at its own rank. The table below gives the 2026 Round 5 closing rank, Gender-Neutral, for each of the five main seat types.

Never compare a General closing rank against an SC or ST closing rank and call it a trend. They come from separate seat pools and separate rank lists. The gap shows reservation policy at work, not one category being easier.

OPEN candidates compete for the largest pool, and JoSAA reads their Common Rank List rank. In 2026 this pool closed at 128 for Computer Science and Engineering and 12,730 for Design.

IIT Delhi Expected Cutoff 2026

The 2026 cutoff is no longer an expectation. JoSAA published it in July 2026, and the tables above carry it. So use the three-year record instead of a forecast.

Computer Science and Engineering barely moved across the three years. Its OPEN closing rank went 116, then 126, then 128. Electrical Engineering moved from 625 to 605 to 612. Those branches barely shift. If you are inside those bands, the branch is realistic for you.

Other branches moved more. Mechanical Engineering loosened from 1,782 to 2,205 across the three years. Civil Engineering loosened from 4,169 to 4,901. Chemical Engineering loosened from 2,221 to 2,724. A three-year swing of several hundred ranks is normal in the middle of the list.

What actually moves a cutoff? Three forces move it: how many candidates qualify JEE Advanced that year, how many of them put IIT Delhi above other IITs, and whether the seat count for that branch changed. All three can pull in opposite directions inside the same year.

There is one more thing to ask before you fix your choice order. Ask your counselling helpdesk whether the branch you want added or cut seats this year. A seat-count change moves the closing rank more than exam difficulty does.

Factors Affecting IIT Delhi Cutoff

Five things move the number every year, and exam difficulty is not the main one.

  • Branch popularity. Computer Science and Engineering and Mathematics and Computing draw the strongest ranks every year. In 2026 they closed at 128 and 338 for OPEN, while Textile Technology closed at 6,580.
  • Category-wise seat count. A smaller reserved pool tightens that category's closing rank, even when fewer candidates apply in it.
  • Choice-filling behaviour. One student lists IIT Delhi CSE above a similar seat elsewhere. That alone changes how far down the rank list the branch fills.
  • Round number. Round 1 and the final round rarely close at the same rank. Early freezes push later rounds further down the list.
  • Total JEE Advanced qualifiers that year. A bigger or smaller qualifying pool shifts every threshold at once, at every IIT.

Does the IIT Delhi cutoff change between JoSAA rounds? Yes, it usually loosens as rounds progress, because withdrawals free seats that then go to lower ranks. Always read the round number next to any cutoff figure you see.

Commonly asked questions

Answers to what readers ask most often.

Q: What is the IIT Delhi cutoff for Computer Science in 2026?

Computer Science and Engineering closed at JoSAA rank 128 for OPEN Gender-Neutral candidates in Round 5 of 2026. The same branch closed at 35 for EWS, 108 for OBC-NCL, 62 for SC and 28 for ST. The five-year Dual Degree in the same subject closed at 212 for OPEN. Data Sources: JoSAA opening and closing ranks 2026.

Q: Which IIT Delhi branch has the easiest cutoff?

The four-year B.Tech in Design, which closed at 12,730 for OPEN Gender-Neutral candidates in 2026. The four-year B.S. In Chemistry followed at 8,823, and Textile Technology at 6,580. Data Sources: JoSAA opening and closing ranks 2026.

Q: Where does IIT Delhi publish its official cutoff?

JoSAA publishes it, not IIT Delhi. Open JoSAA's opening and closing rank tool, then filter by year, round, institute, programme and seat type. Data Sources: JoSAA opening and closing ranks 2026.

Q: Does IIT Delhi have a JEE Advanced cutoff percentile?

No. JEE Advanced reports ranks, not percentiles. IIT Delhi cutoffs are stated as a Common Rank List rank for OPEN seats and a category rank for every reserved seat. Data Sources: JoSAA opening and closing ranks 2026.
