The IIM Mumbai scholarship 2027 offer is narrow, so plan your money before you accept a seat. The admission policies for Batch 2026-28 describe fees, deposits and refund rules. They describe no waiver. The only recurring IIM Mumbai scholarship details published are in the PhD brochure, and the figures below show them. The institute has not published its policies for Batch 2027-29, so IIM Mumbai scholarship information for that batch is still to come.

No MBA Fee Waiver Is Published for Batch 2026-28
The Batch 2026-28 MBA fee is Rs 25 lakh with a refundable Rs 50,000 deposit. Plan your loan or savings early, and ask the admissions office about any government aid for your category.
No published scheme exists for the MBA, MBA-OSCM or MBA-SM in the Batch 2026-28 policy. The MBA policy and the admissions page show a programme fee of Rs 25 lakh and a refundable deposit. They list nothing else on aid. No IIM Mumbai merit scholarship or need-based scheme is printed for these programmes. Read the fees page for the full payment terms.
Regular full-time PhD scholars with a valid CAT, GRE, GMAT, UGC-JRF or GATE score qualify for the stipend. No other IIM Mumbai scholarship schemes are published for current students.
IIM Mumbai scholarship schemes in the public record fall into four groups, and only the first is current. The table separates each one by status. The older waivers come from the 2022 mandatory disclosure, when the campus was still NITIE. Treat them as history, not as current IIM Mumbai scholarship details.
| Support | Who it covers | Status |
|---|---|---|
| PhD stipend and HRA | Regular PhD scholars with a valid test score | Current, 2026 brochure |
| CSR scholarships | Three female students from underserved communities in STEM | CSR-funded award, as per the CSR brochure |
| SC and ST tuition waiver | SC and ST students with family income under Rs 4.5 lakh | 2021-22 batch, NITIE era |
| Need-based waiver | 75 students, family income under Rs 1,00,000 or Rs 2,50,000 | 2021-22 batch, NITIE era |
Old Waivers Are History, Not Current Aid
The SC and ST waiver and the need-based waiver are from the 2021-22 batch. Do not plan your fee around them. Ask the admissions office what applies to your batch.
The Batch 2026-28 MBA policies do not mention it. In 2021-22 the institute gave a 100% tuition waiver to SC and ST students. Their family income had to be under Rs 4.5 lakh. It ran under a Government of India scheme. Ask the admissions office whether any government aid applies to your batch.
No IIM Mumbai merit scholarship is listed for the MBA. The institute admits MBA students on a composite score and publishes no merit scholarship scheme. A high CAT score helps you get in, and it does not reduce the fee. The only merit link is the PhD stipend, which needs a valid test score. So the merit scholarship search ends at the PhD.
No 100% scholarship route is published for the MBA in the Batch 2026-28 policy. The PhD stipend is the closest current support.
IIM Mumbai scholarship eligibility 2027 for the PhD stipend starts with a valid CAT, GRE, GMAT, UGC-JRF or GATE exam score. The score must be valid by the last date to submit the application. Online take-home GMAT and GRE scores do not count.

Latest Date to Clear a Test
For candidates without a valid score on the last date
A candidate without a valid score on the last date can still meet the IIM Mumbai scholarship eligibility rule. The candidate must clear the test before 30 September 2026 and meet the institute norm. The stipend then applies for the balance period of the PhD.
You must join the regular, full-time PhD and hold a valid test score. The IIM Mumbai scholarship continues only with satisfactory academic performance and timely documents. Executive PhD scholars are working professionals, and the policy says they join without financial assistance.
You apply for the IIM Mumbai scholarship through the PhD admission portal, because no separate form is described for the scheme. The timeline shows the order of steps. For the MBA, there is no IIM Mumbai scholarship form. Read the IIM Mumbai admissions page for any change after the CAT 2026 result.

Apply to the regular PhD with a valid test score on the date of application. The stipend is part of the PhD financial assistance clause, and the institute pays it for five years from admission. Plan to finish the research in that period.
Documents for the IIM Mumbai scholarship 2027 are the PhD admission documents plus proof of a valid score. Keep mark sheets and the degree certificate of your master's or bachelor's degree. Keep the score card of the CAT, GRE, GMAT, UGC-JRF or GATE.
Final-Year Candidates: Send the Certificate by 31 May
A certificate from the Principal or Registrar must reach the institute by 31 May of the year of admission.
You need the score card that shows a valid test score, and the mark sheets that support your eligibility. Scholars who claim HRA must also give the prescribed documentation. The institute can verify papers at any stage.
The IIM Mumbai scholarship has no separate selection, because the PhD admission decides who joins. Selection has three steps. These are screening, a written test and a research presentation with an interview. The stats show how the brochure splits the marks.

No. Admission to the regular PhD with a valid test score carries the stipend. The institute may revise the stipend and HRA under statutory approvals, so check the brochure for your year.
IIM Mumbai told NIRF 2025 that 37 students had full tuition reimbursement from state and central government schemes. Another 60 had it from institute funds and 56 from private bodies. These counts are for the two-year PG programme, which had 1,012 students across its years. The report does not name the schemes behind each count.

The 2022 disclosure shows the older picture. In 2021-22, 75 students received a 30% or 50% need-based waiver. These IIM Mumbai scholarship details are history, and the current policy does not repeat them.
Yes for the regular PhD, because a year of stipend is many times the PhD fee. Scholars without a hostel room also receive HRA. The stipend goes with a conference grant of up to Rs 2 lakh for a paper abroad, after two Q1 papers.
