IIM Mumbai admission requirements start with a bachelor's degree with at least 50% marks or equivalent CGPA. These IIM Mumbai admission criteria apply to the Batch 2026-28 policy. SC, ST and PwD candidates need 45%. The degree must come from a university set up by an Act of Parliament or a State legislature. A deemed university under the UGC Act, 1956 also counts. The policy asks for at least three years of study after Class 12.
Any bachelor's degree meeting the marks rule.
Yes, final-year students can apply for IIM Mumbai admission 2027. The requirements for them are simple. You must meet the marks rule for the exams you have written so far. Your Principal or Head of Department must certify your marks. You must finish your final exams and viva before joining. The Batch 2026-28 policy also set 30 June 2026 for the degree and 31 December 2026 for the marksheet and degree certificate. Missing these dates cancels the admission.
MBA-OSCM admission requirements at IIM Mumbai are narrow. The programme is for engineers and a short list of maths and economics graduates. A B.Com or BA graduate cannot choose it. Such candidates can apply for the general MBA or MBA-SM instead. The IIM Mumbai admission criteria for those two are open to all disciplines.
CAT is the entrance exam for IIM Mumbai admission to the MBA, MBA-OSCM and MBA-SM. The IIMs conduct CAT every year, and the same score works for every participating IIM. The IIM Mumbai admission process starts with this score. Read the CAT 2026 exam pattern and CAT 2026 syllabus pages for the paper details.
Other programmes use other tests. The table lists each route as shown on the IIM Mumbai website.
| Programme | Exam accepted | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| MBA, MBA-OSCM, MBA-SM | CAT | Domestic full-time route |
| MBA through GMAT | GMAT or GMAT Focus Edition | Test-centre score, not older than five years |

| MBA-BPGP (blended) | CAT, GMAT, GRE or IMAT | IMAT follows the CAT pattern |
| BS in Digital Science and Business Management | JEE Main Paper 1 | After Class 12 with Maths and Physics |
Yes, IIM Mumbai admission has a GMAT route for the MBA. The Batch 2026-28 cycle closed on 31 March 2026. The score must be from a test centre and not older than five years on that date. International applicants can use GMAT, GRE or CAT. The international application fee is US$ 200, as per the 2026 announcement.
The IIM Mumbai admission process for the MBA has three stages. You can read the details of each stage below. Stage I checks your minimum CAT percentile. Stage II shortlists you for the personal interview. Stage III builds your composite score for the final offer. The IIM Mumbai admission procedure is the same for the MBA, MBA-OSCM and MBA-SM.

Step 4

IIM Mumbai calls candidates for the personal interview on CAT score.
Step 5

Then wait for the composite score list.
Step 6
Accept the Offer
Submit your documents.
The procedure for applying starts with the CAT form. After the result, follow the IIM Mumbai admission process notice on the admissions page and its admission portal. Read the CAT 2026 results page to know what your scorecard shows.
IIM Mumbai admission criteria for selection give 60% weight to CAT. The personal interview gets 20%. Academics and work experience get the other 20%. This is the composite score of the Batch 2026-28 policy. The institute calls the third part the Academic Performance and Work Experience (APWE) score.
Weights Can Change
IIM Mumbai says the composite score weights are tentative and may vary. The institute can also change the admission policy at any stage. Check the policy for your batch before you plan your preparation.
The IIM Mumbai admission criteria use this formula: AR = 0.70 x (A + B + C) + 0.20 x D. A, B and C are the rating points for your Class 10, Class 12 and bachelor's marks. D is the rating for work experience. Class 10 marks give points as shown below.
| Class 10 marks | Rating points |
|---|---|
| 55% or below | 1 |
| Above 55% to 60% | 2 |
| Above 60% to 70% | 3 |
| Above 70% to 80% | 5 |
| Above 80% to 90% | 8 |
| Above 90% | 10 |
Class 12 marks use a separate scale for Science, Commerce and Arts streams. Bachelor's marks use a scale based on your degree type, such as engineering, commerce, science or professional courses. Work experience is covered in the next question.
No. Freshers can apply. Work experience under 12 months earns no points in the APWE score. From 12 to 36 months, you earn 0.20 points for each month above 11. More than 36 months earns 5 points.
IIM Mumbai admission shortlisting for the interview depends on your CAT score and your category. Meeting the minimum percentile does not guarantee a call. The policy says the real section-wise and overall cutoffs may be much higher than the minimums. The institute shares interview and offer details after the CAT result. International applicants can choose an on-campus or online interview.
The interview carries 20% of the composite score in the Batch 2026-28 policy. CAT carries 60%, so a strong CAT score still matters most. The interview can still move your rank, because the final offer list follows the composite score.
IIM Mumbai admission requirements for documents follow the marks you enter in your CAT form. The institute can verify your eligibility at any stage. Keep these documents ready for the IIM Mumbai admission process.
Where no conversion rule exists, IIM Mumbai divides your CGPA by the maximum CGPA and multiplies by 100.
The IIM Mumbai cutoff for admission starts with a minimum of 85 overall CAT percentile for General candidates. These IIM Mumbai admission criteria are Stage I minimums from the Batch 2026-28 policy, which used CAT 2025. They are only the entry gate, and the real shortlist cutoff can be higher. The IIM Mumbai cutoff page holds the full table for every category and section, so this page does not repeat it.
