NIT Trichy scholarships come from four sources: the institute, the National Scholarship Portal, state governments and donors. How Much Can NIT Trichy Scholarships Cut the Fees?

Pay Semester I in Full First
Notice NITT/AO/FEES/2026/047 of 27 August 2026 says semester I tuition is paid in full and refunded later. Circular NIT-T/AO/FEES/2026/053 of 12 October 2026 sets 20 November 2026 for class representatives to submit the papers. The refund starts after the JoSAA and CSAB 2026 amount reaches the institute, expected in February 2027.

Does NIT Trichy Give a 100% Scholarship?
Yes, for tuition. The NIT Trichy scholarship of full remission applies to Open, EWS and OBC-NCL families with income below ₹1 lakh. SC, ST and PwD students pay no tuition. One-time fees, annual fees and deposits are still paid.

Income-Based Tuition Remission
For Open, EWS and OBC-NCL students of B.Tech and B.Arch. Income below ₹1 lakh gets full tuition remission. Income from ₹1 lakh to below ₹5 lakh gets two-thirds, which is ₹41,667 a semester. Circular of 12 October 2026.
SC, ST and PwD Tuition Exemption
Tuition is nil in every programme at any income. The B.Tech total for these students is ₹1,63,750 for the 2026 batch.
National Scholarship Portal Schemes
The circular of 14 July 2026 lists 15 central and state schemes. They include the Central Sector Top Class Education schemes for SC and ST students. PM YASASVI is for OBC, EBC and DNT students. There is also the National Scholarship for Post Graduate Studies. Apply on scholarships.gov.in.
Tamil Nadu BC, MBC and DNC Scholarship
Fresh and renewal forms for 2026-27 cover students in IITs, IIMs, NITs, IIITs and central universities. The forms state no amount.
RECT'78 Alumni Scholarship
About ₹45,000 a year for two second-year B.Tech scholars, one girl and one boy, supported in years two to four. Circular of 29 November 2023. The of 11 August 2026 name two second-year scholars, from Instrumentation and Control and from Civil. The scholars of 2024-25 and 2025-26 continue.
RECT'78 EWS Alumni Scholarship
Tuition fee support for economically disadvantaged students. The 2026-27 results of 11 August 2026 name two second-year scholars, from Instrumentation and Control and from Production. The 2025-26 scholars continue. The results state no amount.
RECT'89 Student Aid Fund
It covers tuition, one-time fees, hostel and mess from year two until the course ends, on merit and means. The name six scholars from the endowment. Two are in year II, three in year III and one in year IV. Two more second-year girls are supported over and above the endowment. The results state no amount.
RECAL and Other Alumni Awards
The RECAL form of 2016 lists awards including ₹20,000 to ₹40,000, such as Ramabhadran Narayanan at ₹40,000. The Silver 72 Trust, the Abundant Cauvery Delta Education Foundation and the Student Aid Fund are also listed on the scholarship page. The form is old, so confirm each award is open.
Company and Bank Awards
Bank of Baroda Achievers Awards: three of ₹31,000 for final-year students (2022). EIL: ₹3,000 a month for SC and ST students of the 2024 batch. Avery Dennison: USD 1,300 for first-year UG students (2019). ONGC and SAIL are listed without amounts.
PG and Ph.D. Stipend
M.Tech, M.Arch and Ph.D. scholars receive a stipend under the institute policy, linked to attendance. The policy states no amount.

NIT Trichy scholarship eligibility depends on your category, course, family income and year of study. Each NIT Trichy scholarship has its own rule. Income means the family income on a certificate issued on or after 1 April 2026. An EWS certificate is not accepted for remission.

Two Rules on Holding More Than One Scheme
The NIT Trichy scholarship circular for NSP says One student, One benefit. The Department of Higher Education OM of 19 June 2026 moves NSP to One Student, Multiple Scholarships from AY 2026-27. That means one merit scheme plus several welfare schemes. Ask the Scholarship Section which rule applies to you.
Who Can Apply for the RECT'78 Scholarship at NIT Trichy?
A second-year B.Tech student who cleared every first-year course without an arrear can apply. You must be an Indian citizen and not admitted through DASA. A student with another scholarship is not eligible. A fee concession alone does not bar you. The lists the criteria.

How Do You Apply for an NSP Scholarship at NIT Trichy?
Get the bonafide certificate first, then register on NSP, then submit the printed form. Follow these steps:
