In August 2026 the Indian Institute of Management Bangalore published its PGP 2027-29 admission process document. Everything in this cycle follows from that document. IIM Bangalore has still not announced the PGP 2027-29 domestic shortlisting, interview or offer dates, as of 10 September 2026.
CAT 2026 is the confirmed prerequisite step. Registration runs 3 August 2026 to 15 September 2026 (5:00 PM IST), admit cards release 4 November 2026, and exam day falls on 29 November 2026, per the official CAT website. IIM Bangalore releases its own PGP dates only after CAT results, expected January 2027. Its sibling PGPBA 2027-29 cycle is already live: applications open 1 October 2026 and close 14 January 2027, per IIM Bangalore's own admissions notice.

}The most recently completed PGP cycle, 2026-28, ran from 13 October 2025 to 20 January 2026, and that batch has already joined. IIM Bangalore's PGP 2027-29 admission process document, published on its official site, keeps the same eligibility rule and selection formula as the 2026-28 cycle. Its reference cutoff table still draws on CAT 2025, because CAT 2026 has not yet been held. CAT gates both PGP and PGPBA for domestic candidates. IIM Bangalore runs one alternate route: a separate PGP international and overseas admission process on a test-centre GMAT or GRE score, which does not accept CAT. See the IIM Bangalore overview for fees, placements and ranking alongside this admission picture.
What should you actually do right now if you're targeting IIM Bangalore's PGP 2027-29 batch? Register for CAT 2026 within its own window, since that exam is the mandatory step every domestic PGP applicant must clear first. IIM Bangalore's own PGP shortlisting, interview and offer dates only follow once CAT 2026 results are declared, expected January 2027, so there is nothing further to track on IIM Bangalore's admissions page yet.

IIM Bangalore's PGP 2026-28 process ran Personal Interviews in February and March 2026. Offers went out in the first week of April 2026, with acceptance due by the second week. IIM Bangalore's standard practice is to release PGP shortlisting, interview and offer dates only after CAT results are declared, expected January 2027. A broadly similar February-April window is therefore a reasonable expectation for PGP 2027-29, not a confirmed one. Confirm the exact dates on IIM Bangalore's own PGP admissions page once it posts them.
A bachelor's degree in any discipline with at least 50% marks or an equivalent CGPA qualifies for the IIM Bangalore admission application form to PGP and PGPBA. SC, ST and PwD candidates need only 45%. CA, CS, ICWA/CMA and FIAI professional-qualification holders are eligible on the same percentage terms even without a separate bachelor's degree.
PGP and PGPBA run on CAT for domestic candidates. IIM Bangalore also runs a separate PGP international and overseas route on a test-centre GMAT or GRE score, and that route does not accept CAT. EPGP accepts GMAT or GRE only. PGPEM accepts CAT alongside GMAT, GRE and the IIMB Test. PGPPM and the PhD accept existing test scores and conduct an a written test of their own, then an interview.
| Programme | Accepted Exam |
|---|---|
| PGP | CAT (domestic route); GMAT or GRE (international and overseas route) |
| PGPBA | CAT only |
| EPGP | GMAT or GRE only |
| PGPEM | CAT, GMAT, GRE or IIMB Test |
| PGPPM | CAT, GMAT, GRE or IIMB Test, then interview and case analysis |
| PhD (Doctoral Programme in Management) | CAT, GMAT, GRE, GATE or UGC-CSIR/JRF NET by area, or IIMB Test, then interview |
15 international students joined the 2026-28 PGP batch through GMAT, at an average score of 713, per IIM Bangalore's own inauguration announcement. EPGP needs five years of work experience as on 31 March 2027, and PGPEM needs six years of full-time experience as on the same date. Company sponsorship is not an entry route into EPGP.
The Indian Institute of Management Bangalore's PGP admission process runs in two stages, and both stages use a weighted composite score rather than a single cutoff decision:
Step 1
Apply online
Submit your CAT registration and academic transcripts once IIM Bangalore admission applications open.
Step 2
Two reference letters
Referees submit online directly, by the application deadline. No extension applies for late references.
Step 3
Stage I shortlisting
A 100-point pre-PI score: CAT 55, boards 10+10, bachelor's 10, work experience 10, gender diversity 5.
Step 4
PI and WAT
Shortlisted candidates sit a Personal Interview and Written Ability Test, usually on the same day.
Step 5
Stage II composite score
PI carries 40 points, WAT 10, CAT drops to 25, boards and bachelor's together 15, work experience 10.
Step 6
Final offers
Offers go out on the Stage II composite score, category-wise, against the seats available.
What happens if I miss the reference-letter deadline? A late reference affects your application directly. IIM Bangalore's own document grants no separate extension for one. Your referee's delay, not only your own, can cost you the whole application.
CAT is not the only thing deciding your final rank. In Stage I, CAT carries 55 of 100 points, the largest single weight. Boards, bachelor's degree, work experience and gender diversity together make up the other 45. By Stage II, that balance shifts sharply toward the interview: PI and WAT together carry 50 points, more than CAT's reduced 25-point share.
How does the IIM Bangalore selection criteria actually work for work experience? IIM Bangalore scores experience on a sliding scale: 10 times the number of months, divided by 36. It caps at the full 10 points once you cross 36 months (three years) by July of the admission year. Internships, articleship and unpaid work earn no weight at all under this formula.
IIM Bangalore runs its own single-stage shortlisting and interview process rather than a centralised counselling system like JoSAA. There is no separate seat-allocation round after the interview. Once the Stage II composite score is finalised, offers go out directly, category-wise, against the number of seats sanctioned for that batch.
IIM Bangalore's most recently published cutoff table sets the General aggregate bar at 85 percentile, with EWS matching NC-OBC at 75, well below General. See the full IIM Bangalore CAT cutoff page for the sectional break-up by category and what actually moves the bar year to year.
IIM Bangalore reserves seats under the statutory categories: NC-OBC, SC, ST, EWS and PwD. It evaluates each against its own cutoff and its own composite-score pool, not against a shared bar with General candidates. Submit your category certificate with the required document set to claim a reserved-category seat.
A student admitted to PGP is not locked into paying the full Rs 26,00,000 fee. IIM Bangalore's Financial Aid Program, merit scholarships and government-run need-cum-merit routes can each reduce that number, some down to zero for a qualifying candidate. See the full IIM Bangalore scholarship page for every route, its eligibility and its renewal condition.

Yes, on the international and overseas route only. IIM Bangalore requires a test-centre GMAT or GRE score there, and it does not accept CAT on that route. Domestic PGP candidates still need CAT. EPGP accepts GMAT or GRE only, and PGPEM accepts CAT, GMAT, GRE or the IIMB Test.

The PI alone carries 40 of 100 points in Stage II, the single largest weight in the final composite score. WAT adds another 10 points on top of that.
