IIM Ahmedabad runs 43 documented scholarship routes for PGP and PGP-FABM students. They range from one headline Rs 25,00,000 award to broader, income-linked government schemes reaching far more students. The largest single award, the P H Shah Merit cum Means Scholarship, goes to only 2 women candidates a year.
Most students qualify instead through the institute's own need-based scholarship. It tests family income under Rs 15 lakh.
Every figure on this page traces to Indian Institute of Management Ahmedabad's own Scholarship Guidebook for 2024-2026. No third-party estimate appears here. Where a scheme's terms were not confirmed for every programme, this page says so rather than assuming they carry over.

The Guidebook groups its 43 routes into four families. They are Union Government schemes, IIMA-administered awards, private or foundation awards, and state government schemes. The accordion below details the eight routes with confirmed slot counts or recipient numbers.
Rs 25,00,000, across 2 slots, reserved for women candidates, and income-linked. Its income ceiling follows the Special Need-Based Scholarship criteria: family income below Rs 15,00,000. Shortlisting runs on the SNBS applications and PGP I CGPA. It is the single largest IIM Ahmedabad scholarship and difficult to get.
Rs 75,000 to Rs 2,45,000 a year, based on family income under Rs 15 lakh. 72 PGP students and 16 PGP-FABM students received it in the most recent cycle. That makes this the award most students actually receive.
Open to OBC-NCL, EBC and DNT candidates with family income up to Rs 2.5 lakh. It offers 100 slots, with 30% reserved for women candidates.
Family income ceiling of Rs 8 lakh. 10 slots, with 10 recipients in the most recent cycle at the institute.
This carries a family income ceiling of Rs 6 lakh. The national scheme sets no fixed slot cap as it applies here.
Up to Rs 2 lakh a year plus allowances, with an income ceiling of Rs 8 lakh. The scheme offers 300 slots nationally, across institutes including this one.
Two tiers exist. The first pays Rs 10 lakh a year, or Rs 20 lakh over two years, across 9 plus 1 slots. The second pays Rs 5 lakh a year, or Rs 10 lakh over two years, across 18 plus 2 slots. A student needs a minimum CGPA to continue into year two.
3 slots and 3 recipients, tied to the CFA Institute's own scholarship access programme.
PGPX carries its own separate scholarship structure. An entry scholarship covers up to 25% of the single-room fee, and a graduation scholarship covers up to 15%. Both reduce the effective fee rather than the headline figure.
Almost every confirmed route here tests income, category, or both.
Four steps run between an admission offer and a scholarship award.
| Step | What Happens |
|---|---|
| 1 | You confirm admission and complete fee registration for the PGP or PGP-FABM |
| 2 | You submit income and category documents through the institute's scholarship process |
| 3 | The institute assesses your eligibility against each scheme's income ceiling and category rules |
| 4 | The institute communicates awards before or during the academic year, per scheme |
Four documents cover almost every route on this page.
| Document | Needed For |
|---|---|
| Income certificate | All income-linked routes |
| Category certificate (SC/ST/OBC-NCL) | Category-linked government schemes |
| Disability certificate | Disability scholarship scheme |
| Bank account details | Direct transfer of any awarded amount |
The institute assesses each scheme separately, against its own income ceiling, category rule and slot count. The P H Shah Merit cum Means Scholarship has only 2 slots, against a far larger pool of eligible women candidates. It shortlists on the Special Need-Based Scholarship applications and PGP I CGPA together. That makes it the most competitive route on this page.
The need-based scholarship has the widest real reach among the routes this page could confirm. It reached 72 PGP and 16 PGP-FABM students in the most recent cycle.
Most students who receive one qualify through the income-linked need-based route, not the headline Rs 25 lakh award. Apply there first if your family income sits under Rs 15 lakh. The more competitive routes at Indian Institute of Management Ahmedabad come after it, not before.
Recipient counts say more than slot counts, so both appear below where the Guidebook gives them.
| Scholarship | Recipients (most recent cycle) |
|---|---|
| Need-based (PGP) | 72 |
| Need-based (PGP-FABM) | 16 |
| P H Shah Merit cum Means | 2 |
| Top Class Education (SC) | 10 |
| CFA Scholarship | 3 |
| Endowment Entry-Level | 30 slots (9+1 and 18+2 tiers) |
The P H Shah headline and the need-based scholarship's real reach differ sharply. That gap is the most useful number on this page. At Indian Institute of Management Ahmedabad's most recent count, 88 students received the need-based award. Two received the headline one.
Renewal is not automatic
The Endowment Entry-Level Scholarship needs a minimum CGPA to continue into year two. Most government income-linked schemes require fresh income proof each year. A scholarship received in year one is not guaranteed in year two without meeting these conditions.
Subtract your likely scholarship from the total on the IIM Ahmedabad fee structure and payment schedule page. That gives a realistic net cost.
