This course aims to equip you with the latest skills for a range of careers in veterinary science, as well as in STEM and non-STEM industries. You will be taught by a range of skilled scientists and clinicians with extensive experience in animal disease and research. It will cover virtually every aspect of animal biology, management, and disease that is likely to interest you. You will require ambition to succeed in the veterinary field and a desire to improve animal health and welfare. In 1949 The Royal Veterinary College became a full part of the University of London, whilst retaining its independence with its own Royal Charter, and in 1955 the College acquired a country estate in Hertfordshire to provide a new field station; today our modern and vibrant Hawkshead campus. The Hawkshead Campus is where veterinary medicine students are based for the final three years of their course, alongside veterinary nursing students and specialists-in-training.More recent developments include the building of the Queen Mother Hospital for Animals in Hertfordshire, which today treats over 7,000 patients a year and, in 2001, seventy-six years after the opening of the College's Research Institute in Animal Pathology at Camden, the establishment of the London Bioscience Innovation Centre, which houses over 40 life science companies.The College holds a unique position in the English-speaking world of over two centuries of innovation and leadership in veterinary medicine. The RVC is one of 17 member institutions within the federation of the University of London.
