Wilfrid Laurier University Enters Partnership With State University in India

Wilfrid Laurier University and IK Gujral Punjab Technical University (IKGPTU) in Kapurthala, India have signed an agreement that will boost the student experience in computer science programs.

The memorandum of understanding allows eligible students who have completed two years in IKGPTU’s Computer Science and Engineering program to transfer to Laurier’s Computer Science program for their third and fourth years to complete a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science degree.

Key Takeaways:

  • Wilfrid Laurier University and IK Gujral Punjab Technical University (IKGPTU) in Kapurthala, India, have signed an agreement.
  • After signing the memorandum of understanding, computer science students will be able to start their studies at IKGPTU and finish at Laurier.
  • For their third and fourth years, IKGPTU Computer Science and Engineering students can transfer to Laurier’s Computer Science department.

This partnership is in keeping with the Laurier Strategy: 2019-2024’s internationalization goal of producing global citizens with strong intellectual competencies while making an impact as an internationally linked institution.

Signing the memorandum of understanding allows computer science students to begin their studies at IKGPTU and conclude them at Laurier is an exciting prospect for both institutions and students.

Through this collaboration, IKGPTU and Laurier will broaden their worldwide reach, give students a relevant international experience, and increase their intercultural competency.

Laurier’s Computer Science program provides students with hands-on experience in both software and hardware, allowing them to learn the principles of computing. Co-op placements are another way for computer science students to put what they’ve learned into practice.

IKGPTU’s Computer Science and Engineering curriculum blends fundamental computer science and engineering knowledge with practical experience in the business.

IKGPTU, formerly Punjab Technical University (PTU), is a state university that has been established by an act of the Punjab legislature to develop technical, management, and pharmaceutical education in the province.
